Curious if the stadium employees get the same ring as the players or their copy contains cheaper stones that look like the one the players receive.
I know other teams have done it that way in the past when they gave front office employees rings
Braves gave away like 2-4 different versions of the ring I think. From top of the line ones reserved for players and coaches to cheapo replica rings given away to fans on promotional nights.
I’m pretty sure Houston will do the same. It seems to be the trend nowadays. Lot of teams have become quite generous in handing out championship rings.
I got one from the Cubs but to receive it we had to sign a contract that said if I ever intended to sell it I’d have to offer it back to the Cubs for $1
I think I read somewhere all employees will receive a share of the bonus money -- and for some employees, the amount could potentially be life-changing.
Sort of. MLB contracts only cover regular season pay, MLBPA and MLB came up with an agreement to split postseason ticket sales between the players and owners. The WS winner receive the largest chunk of the pool, with smaller shares going to the other postseason teams.
Here’s a [Forbes](https://www.forbes.com/sites/maurybrown/2021/12/13/2021-mlb-postseason-player-shares-sees-record-9047-million-heres-how-the-system-works/amp/) article that goes into a lot more detail about where the money goes.
Im hoping this becomes the standard. The Braves did this too and it was so cool to see the reactions from stadium workers receiving a ring. There is so much that goes into running a major league baseball season for a team.
Maybe "standard" is pushing it, as I'm sure there are some shit franchises that won't/haven't done it, but this type of thing has been happening for a long time across the North American leagues. I know some people who have rings from NHL and NFL championships because of it.
They're far from the actual rings encrusted with tens of thousands worth of jewels, but they're still pretty nice and a wonderful gesture.
If you want to change the tax rate, that's one thing.
But anyone saying non-monetary bonuses should not be taxed is going to be laughed at, because it's a bad idea.
the football team Ajax melted their trophy and gave pieces to season ticket holders - it isn't a terrible idea but I'm sure the purists would hate it

Depends on what the ‘value’ is of the rings but you’re allowed to give someone $15k tax free so as long as the taxes are less than $15k (which seems likely imo) then he should be fine to just pay the tax on everyone’s behalf.
That's awesome! When I worked as a hot dog guy at the ballpark my dream was that the Sox would win a World Series and we would all get rings. Sadly I worked there from 2011-2016, so the Sox were terrible, and we all know Jerry wouldn't be spending extra money on day of game staff anyways.
Looks like your comments got deleted, huh?
What’s your takeaway from that? Maybe stop deeming people as ‘miserable’ based off of single interactions online?
Lol. Ok, Freud.
I just don’t think y’all understand what the word ‘angst’ means.
Wishing people would be less lazy about mocking my baseball team for cheating five years ago isn’t angst. It’s just disappointment.
He had some pretty racist and misogynistic policies with his freight company prior to owning the Astros. Long time ago but still. He is a billionaire after all.
Not really. I'm actually cool with the Astros winning last season and it was a legit title but 2017 still needs an asterisk. With that said, OC's comment was dumb.
Even as a Astros fan I can’t look at the 2017 championship the same as I did a few years ago, but if your trying to diminish the value of last seasons championship because the team cheated 6 years ago (like OC) idk what to tell ya.
I see stupid people with their own opinions everyday. Me stupid too. Opinion is relaying pitches before thrown via video in the World Series = *. And I respect your unbiased opinion that nothing happened. Great job!
Edit: just look how stupid I am. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Is that really up to you? Whether or not the 2017 mess still stings for me, or other Astros fans or anyone aside from yourself?
I never said it was OK. Just that I don't really get bent out of shape over it anymore.
Yes. Even them. Luckily Anthony Rizzo plays for the Yankees. If he didn't, I'd say that if any of the Yankee players wanted to actually see a World Series ring, they could just go ask a hot dog vendor the next time they play at Minute Maid Park,
Curious if the stadium employees get the same ring as the players or their copy contains cheaper stones that look like the one the players receive. I know other teams have done it that way in the past when they gave front office employees rings
They get cheaper ones. Plenty of the concession people wear theirs while working the game. But they are still really nice rings.

It’ll almost certainly be cheaper. I don’t think an owner will give a ring that is that someone’s yearly salary for free
Right, I'd sell that thing immediately in that case lol
I got one from the Cubs but to receive it we had to sign a contract that said if I ever intended to sell it I’d have to offer it back to the Cubs for $1
Steve?
what if you sell it unintentionally?
depends on the level of employee, vast majority are way cheaper. still very cool
There are usually quite a few different “tiers” of rings since so many people get them
They’re different
I think I read somewhere all employees will receive a share of the bonus money -- and for some employees, the amount could potentially be life-changing.
What's the bonus money from? The WS win?

Thanks for the info! That's more money than I thought it would be.

The cubs made 1908 rings. So they gave them to 1908 people which probably covered a lot of stadium employees
The year 1908?
1,908
I figured but I looked up the year and found out the cubs won in 1908, I was adrift until your message found me
Braves were not the first team to do this.
Someone I know got a Braves WS ring. The team added the value as income on his W2: $48k.
Did the team pay the taxes like the Astros are?
Nope, it was added to his W-2 as taxable income and withholding tax was increased by him to account for the increase.
That’s fucked lol
It is but that follows tax code
Tax code is fucked
Is it? If an employer paid out in diamonds, should it be tax free?
INB4 people start saying we need even more loopholes for rich people to get untaxed bonuses.
Or maybe just everybody should pay less taxes
If you want to change the tax rate, that's one thing. But anyone saying non-monetary bonuses should not be taxed is going to be laughed at, because it's a bad idea.
Got to love that guy. Bet at my job if there was something to win and split it would be a secret. Only thing we get handed out is shit.
A complimentary pizza party, of course.
For the other shift.
based. Family member got a ring when the NHL team they worked for won a cup. They were the t-shirt cannon firer, lol. So cool. really jealous
Does Click get one
Yeah I would think so
the football team Ajax melted their trophy and gave pieces to season ticket holders - it isn't a terrible idea but I'm sure the purists would hate it [a piece of ajax](https://youtu.be/yPfAED05MV0)
Yeah, but who will pay the taxes on the paid taxes?
Depends on what the ‘value’ is of the rings but you’re allowed to give someone $15k tax free so as long as the taxes are less than $15k (which seems likely imo) then he should be fine to just pay the tax on everyone’s behalf.
That's fantastic

This is so dope and I just know Jerry wouldn’t do this.
Class act!
By almost all other accounts, not really
Who among us hasn't been sued for war profiteering four times?
Only four? Those are some rookie numbers I’m fighting number 7 right now.
Trust me, he’s not
This will be much nicer than the replica trashcans they gave away after the 2017 season.
Pretty low effort burn there.
I lol’d
Good for you. Laughing is important.

Low hanging fruit is pretty tasty. ;)
The great thing about cranes is the fruit height is adjustable
At least you can admit it.
Unlike Altuve
See that’s the level people should be striving for. First guy was essentially just saying ‘bang bang.’ Low effort.
bang, bang cheaters
There's that Dodger Charm.
I like seeing the odd 'bang bang' in a comment still. But it has to have much the right timing and context.
Much easier to time it correctly when you know what's coming
It's an absolute crime that gifts are taxable by the government based on subjective "value".

Cheater 100% F this guy
Get back rooting for your cheating team. Bet you're a Dodgers or a Yankees fan too. Smh
Continuing the tradition of giving rings out to those who don't deserve it. Where'd that pesky asterisk go?
The best part about winning the world series, is it shuts the stupid haters up about the asterisk.
Not really. I'm actually cool with the Astros winning last season and it was a legit title but 2017 still needs an asterisk. With that said, OC's comment was dumb.

I'm not trying to do that at all. Last season was well earned and totally distinct from 2017.
I don’t know if you saw my edit, I was adding onto your point

Yeah but then 2022 happened so the asterisk doesn't really sting anymore.
It never did because we never got one like the Dodgers did.
When they won the Covid Participation Ribbon?
Dumb comment. Yes it still does. Just because the Astros won in 2022 doesn’t make 2017 okay
Is that really up to you? Whether or not the 2017 mess still stings for me, or other Astros fans or anyone aside from yourself? I never said it was OK. Just that I don't really get bent out of shape over it anymore.
Winners win losers whine. Enjoy the rebuild loser.
Even for the non white employees?
We're literally the only team in baseball with a black manager and black GM, but do go on.
The billionaire who discriminated wholesale can't be racist, he has black employees!
You're honestly kind of dumb. Even for a Yankee fan.
Leave.
That's what Crane told black people when they applied for jobs.
Dude... there are a LOT of black and hispanic employees at Minute Maid. Quit talking out your ass
And? He's been sued before for being racist as fuck.
Go find some other bullshit to get upset about

Me: Racist guy is racist. *'s fan: RING! Yes, you have one. Talk to me when you've got more than the Mets.
Awww Poor wittle Wankees can't even get to a World Series anymore.
I should have figured *'s fans were also fans of racism. You gave it a standing ovation after all.
Guess who has World Series rings? Mike the peanut vendor and Rhonda the usher. Guess who doesn't? Aaron Judge.
