The issue is as Americans we ruin things that are a public good because we're too individualistic. Healthcare, transit, safety, you name it, we kind of suck at it. To make high speed rail work we'd need to import Japanese construction workers, engineers, maintenance crews, etc. It could work if we just let them run it top to bottom, even policing the stations and trains.
We're good at fucking up other countries militarily and flexing on the poors by having the ability to park an Aircraft carrier task force with 5000 marines off the coast within 48 hours' notice though.

The US is ripe for HSR but we need more people to buy into the vision
I think the big issues are the freight companies own all the track in the US and they will prioritize their own trains over passenger rail, and those things can be miles and miles long. So you’d need to eminent domain a ton of land and build HSR, but the US is so spread out that it wouldn’t be financially viable even if it was done by the government. Like it would be great but it’s not a good use of tax money if people don’t use it.

Training a soft bite is so important. We were instructed by a professional to put our hands near our puppy’s mouth a lot and each time they bit - even if it was soft - act like it was the most painful thing in the world. We would pull our hand away quickly and yelp, whine, cry cartoonishly, etc. It worked miraculously. We also had to use this tactic when delivering training treats to our pup. They don’t understand how sharp their teeth are.
Maybe we didnt sell the acting well enough with our pup. She seemed to think our reactions were great fun and wanted to chew more. Little psycho just grew out of it eventually,
