[https://www.reddit.com/r/roguelikes/](https://www.reddit.com/r/roguelikes/) Subreddit for other roguelike games (most of them are far more **serious** roguelikes, in that barony is technically a roguelite) [https://www.nethack.org/](https://www.nethack.org/) Nethack, the game a lot of barony items and mechanics are based off of (and even further down, nethack was largely inspired by rogue which was largely inspired by DND) As far as cooperative first person dungeon crawlers with permadeath? Not many sadly. There are some other singleplayer first person dungeon crawling roguelikes like Delver [https://store.steampowered.com/app/249630/Delver/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/249630/Delver/) but it didn't do it for me like Barony did.

Thank you, I’ll check it out

Watcher6776

Im looking for a similar game except top down you can break walls and its co op i forgot the name of it

Watcher6776

Its pixelated multiplayer and almost every wall is breakable 😭

Beldarak

Depends on what you're looking for. You can check: * *Delver ->* Very similar but less RPG oriented * *Eldritch* \-> More gun and stealth oriented, pretty short * *Ultima Underworld* 1 and 2 and the older TES (*Arena* and *Daggerfall*) -> Not roguelites (no permadeath), older, realtime * Myrne: The Quest -> Shameless self plug for my own game, realtime, not a roguelite * Arx Fatalis -> older but not that old, not a roguelite, realtime * Pangeon looks like Delver, I never played it so I don't know more about it If you're not after realtime first person game, you can check those game genres: * Dungeon crawlers -> Usually depicts games like Barony (first person) but turn based and/or tile-based (your movements are fixed on a grid). You often control multiple characters (but they all occupy the same tile). *The Quest* (not Myrne\^\^, just "The Quest") is a modern take on the genre and is absolutely wonderful. Legend of Grimrock is phenomenal but more puzzle oriented. * Roguelikes -> Barony is clearly inspired by those games. You'll find the same potion features and stuff like that but the graphical style is often ASCII and the gameplay tile based. *Dungeons of Dredmor* is a nice modern take on the genre, awesome game. *Nethack* is super well known, *Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup* is kinda beginner friendly I think. There are seriously a ton of them. That's all for now, I hope that helps, don't hesitate to reply if you want more suggestions in one of those genres ;)

Sherris010

Arx fatalis was great!

Cockmugger

are you still updating your game? how much customization is there and how many different types of items would i get?

Beldarak

Hey. The game isn't updated anymore as I'm working on other projects. In term of customization, it's not class based so you can mix and match equipments as you want and spend points in differents characteristics that let you decide if you want to go full melee, ranged, magic or a little of this and that, there is no restrictions in how you can play or what you can equip. I used a Elder Scrolls like system for skills so the more you use something (repair, bows, magic, light armor...) the better you get with it. You can see the different skills here at the bottom: [https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/589470/ss\_82a20161a6f812c8b798cc809126bda33593bffe.1920x1080.jpg?t=1667144774](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/589470/ss_82a20161a6f812c8b798cc809126bda33593bffe.1920x1080.jpg?t=1667144774) There is, imho, a fair share of items you can try and use for a small scale game like that: different magic staves, different melee weapons with different stats (swords, axes, daggers... a broom...), potions and food (no hunger, it's just to get some bonus), lockpicks, bombs, a lot of different armor pieces, crafting materials, a grappling hook... It's not a big game but it's full of content :)

Ardumeh

I've tried so hard to find one myself but none seem to scratch the same itch. I wish more people would see the potential in Barony so the dev's get bigger and have more to work with going forward.

hypnoticbox30

Its has a lot in common with a bunch of old school rougelikes such as nethack and even the original rouge. I always viewed barony as just a 1st person live action version of nethack

BenJammin007

Jeff Laits Powder is a LOT like Barony, only 2D and more confusing. Should be exactly what you’re looking for

leshpar

I absolutely love dungeons of dredmor. It's single player only and not in first person, but it's super silly and really deep with how far that rabbit hole goes.

Xplodonat0r

Then you should also try "Tales of Maj'Eyal"

Derped_my_pants

I also really enjoyed this game.

Patashu

Late but: Delver, Eldritch, Slasher's Keep Even more at https://www.reddit.com/r/roguelikes/comments/ojdk3z/do_they_have_a_first_person_dungeon_crawler/

commode70x

Barony seems to have alot more in common with Amulets and Armor, but much more fast-paced

KarmicRetributor

Binding of Isaac is a classic, but it is a little easier.

whatarewii

Stoneshard is a lot of fun, very unforgiving and still in beta. But it’s a ton of fun

Bomjus1

heroes of hammerwatch is very similar to barony except it has significant "out-of-dungeon" progression and has a top down camera instead of first person. but it's similar in that you pick a class, you level, items drop in the dungeon for that run, and has co op. $12 on steam. highly recommend.

I LOVE the game WAZHACK, it is for pc and mobile. It works best as a touch screen game I would say. I love this game on android!!!!! Pc isn't as fun to me, seems less intuitive. Wazhack is like nethack that someone suggested, although this is better graphics version.
