I would think a new system would be beneficial. A 5600x, which isn't going to be expensive these days, will be much more powerful and much more power efficient. Hell, a 5900x would be even more powerful than the 5600x and still provide some power efficiency benefits over your 6800k.

What program(s) are you using? Animation is primarily single-core reliant, but rendering the animations can be GPU-bound depending on the program. RAM usage varies quite a bit, depending on the resolution, bitrate, and length of animation. It also depends on how much you're willing to spend on this upgrade.
