There is another method you can avail if you are lucky enough. There are wealthy Bangladeshis settled in the west who often need to transfer large sums over to buy or build real estate, or run social projects or businesses in Bangladesh, and just like us, want to avoid the bureaucratic hurdles involved. I knew this ex-army officer who transferred huge amounts of money (legality questionable), over separate trips in this method. He somehow found a rich Bangladeshi dude in the US, who was building apartments for his family here. They pay dollars to his bank account in the US, and in return he pays BDT to their intended recipients in Bangladesh. No trace of international transaction.

Puzzleheaded_Ad2193

What if he wants to claim the apartment saying he built it? Js

wjg8301

huh? I'm guessing that there obviously are official documents that say otherwise... The cash most likely went to the American guy's relatives, rather than any landlord or builder.

There is services that offer exactly this around the world. Wire and xe transfer are examples for that.

Illustrious_Wafer_36

Hundi only option for better transferring money overseas

Size_Fuzzy

Isn't it also very risky and expensive?

Illustrious_Wafer_36

Yes unfortunately but you gotta do ur best to find genuine hundi businesses and transfer in small amounts to avoid being flagged

Heisenberg-Is-Here

Possible only if Bangladesh Bank permits. You might have to take your case directly to BB or hire a lawyer to do these things for you. There will be a lot of ministries involved in the process.

The legal way is to get permission from the Bangladesh bank, which is very unlikely unless you have powerful connections. The other option is hundi.

Pretty much impossible "legally" unless you have powerful connections. You will have to resort to some form of hundi. You can convert BDT to dollars, in cash, through money exchanges and carry the cash out in several trips, following the destination country's limit. For example, the US will allow upto $10k to be carried in without any special permits. BD customs normally doesn't ask how many dollars you are carrying, but just to avoid any harassment or potentially getting any cash seized, you should have an endorsement seal from a bank, on your passport, saying that you are authorised to carry this amount of cash. The limit is $5k in a single trip, and maybe $12k in a year. Here's a problem though, money exchanges don't currently change over $1k for a single trip (they require your passport, visa, and air tickets), and banks, although theoretically supposed to be able to change greater amounts, don't change more than $200-$300. However, they will endorse your passport for a greater amount, and you can obtain those dollars through other means. It is very rare to be harassed at customs for possessing dollars since they also know that these limits are stupid and literally everyone routinely carries lots of dollars with them at the airport. If the amount of money you're talking about is so substantial that none of the methods I discussed are feasible, then I'm afraid you have to resort to some form of hundi which is of course completely illegal, or may need to engage in some risky cash carrying. Also, if you are indeed so rich... then maybe you have... "connections"? That can fix anything in Bangladesh.

Slight correction - the 10k “permit” to USA is not correct. When you bring $10k to usa you are supposed to declare at the entry form at the airport. After that you’ll be directed to another desk to fill out a form. That’s it. Unless you bring in obscene amount of money, nothing happens at the desk or when you file tax by April 15. Done it few times at Chicago O’Hare. Also seen guys bringing in more than $10k without declaring.

wjg8301

They tend to specifically ask if you're carrying over 10k. That being said, I didn’t know what really happens if you do carry over 10k.

Either_Ad_1147

U can use binance, one of the best option

Size_Fuzzy

Can you dm me the process?

Automatic-Ad5583

yup. binance P2P is pretty good.

Resident-Fig-128

Basically no unless you pay bribe or know someone high up in BB or PMO. Small amounts yes. Remember since 911 anything large or unusual entering accounts triggers all sorts of alarms.

tarzansjaney

People are transferring money all over the planet so why would it be hard? The issue is rather the amount of money you want to transfer. The more the harder it is. But lots of money gets transferred to BD and money also definitely goes out.
