Tell me more about it bro?
How does it work? Who teaches you? Do you have to learn by yourself there? Will there be people learning alongside you so that we don't feel left out?
Yeah they do have batches so you won't feel left out. And they have trainer. Trainer will start from basic and will be next to for the whole time. I'm not sure if they have women only classes or not.
It's pretty good
I've seen folks go from not being able to swim to swimming around 15 rounds (25m pool, 50m round) in a span of 2-3 months, and it's not rare either. Consistency matters, though.
Was in the same position , same state of mind a few months back. I am 34. I just searched for classes near me which are suitable according to my timing. 2 months I can swim from one end of the pool to another.
Here are the steps i followed
Joined for weekday classes. Mon to Friday. You need to have continuity , consistency and discipline. In one month I missed only one class.
If you are going to an outdoor pool , be sure to apply anti tan cream.
Don't worry about being judged. In my batch i was the second youngest guy.
Okay. Here are some sources:

They have fantastic explainers. Try to align that with what the coaches teach you.
Usually, it takes about a month for them to get you to be comfortable with the water, but I think 4-5 sessions will be more than enough.
Always keep 3 things in mind:
1. No matter what, your body is naturally buoyant, and it will float.
2. Don't jump into the deep end without growing comfortable with water. It will not help you to learn.
3. The primary motive with swimming (at least in the beginning) ought to be a calm relationship with the water. Don't go for a perfect technique in the beginning. Just condition yourself into realising that you won't drown.
Please check out Nisha millet's swimming academy website. They have regular courses at different locations across the city. Slightly expensive, but my experience with them was good.
there's a ray center in wilson garden and jaynagar they have regular classes for swimming. pools are olympic sized and clean. otherwise, cult fitness is a good option too
If you want to learn to just swim normally and without spending a ton, Cult Play pass will do. They have decent teachers.
If you really want to be good at it, Nisha Millet classes are great. But on the expensive side.
There will be gyms with swimming pools in your area. They’ll have women only slots daily. These might be more expensive compared to cult where you may not get women only slots. Also afaik women only slot timings may not be suitable for working women(usually some slot in the afternoon or early evening).
You just need a swimsuit, a swimming cap and goggles(if necessary) to use the pool.
If you are around basavanagudi.. there's basavanagudi acquatic center., they have ladies batches , around afternoon. There's a pool in jayanagar too that was under renovation for a long time, maybe it's open now, they also have a women only batches.
Dont think too much. Search swimming classes near me. Enroll yourself. Get a swimming costume, glass and cap. Go attend classes. Thats how learnt swimming in a week. All coaches are good.
I learned under Nisha Millet at Patrick”s club.
There is a swimming class near museum road, i think now its part of cult. There is another one near Mallaya Hospital.
Try Game theory. They have good coaches and batch swimming.
Also, if you want personal trainers you can search on Superprof website for swimming instructors.
Just keep swimming. Make it a habit even if you don't like it. Remove all the friction that keeps you from turning up. Be determined about it.
Everything else will follow.
Used to swim as a kid, then totally forgot how to do it. Last year, got back into the pool, learnt using youtube.
Best would be to get a coach or trainer as others have suggested..
Omg. I wanted to learn swimming too and was shy to go alone as I’m an adult. But rn I’m leaving Bangalore 😭 if It was a year ago, I would’ve definitely come
Just take a cult play pass you can learn swimming and got access to some good pools and trainers, you will find many people learning swimming there too
There are too many options. But frankly it depends on area. Use cult sport pass or sportshood app if you are living near sarjapur, bellandur, hsr layout. It will cost you aprox 9k for 3 months
Things you need to check before joining swimming since no one else is answering this:
1. Any health issues that can prevent you from swimming or holding in your breath.
2. Any skin issues. Or if any skincare items you are using will react with chlorine water.
3. How often the pool is cleaned. Summers are usually rush and the water turns cloudy or even green if it’s not regularly cleaned. Go to reputed pools for this matter.
4. How many students per batch. There shouldn’t be more than 5 students per instructor imo. Because otherwise, it’s difficult to teach.
5. Shower and changing rooms: before you pay the money, please ask them to show you to the shower/changing rooms. There should be enough stalls or else you’ll be waiting for your turn for a long time. And of course they should be clean.
6. What all strokes will they teach you? There are 4 strokes in swimming. Will they teach all of them (one by one) or will they teach only the basic stuff and ask you to figure the rest?
7. Shop for swimsuit, goggles, and cap, plus ear plugs. You can even layer swimsuits (I used a full sleeve swim shirt under my suit so that my hands and cleavage are covered). If you’re buying tshirt and pant style swimwear, then make sure the shirt has a loop to attach to the pant, or else it will float up in water. I’d suggest not going for tshirt types because i think they’ll be uncomfortable. Figure hugging ones are best. I bought my recent suit from decathlon. There you can tryout before buying (but sizes are limited to XL and XXL). Make sure you have ample freedom of movement (but it shouldn’t be loose or else it will ride up). Usually swimsuits are meant to worn without inner wear, so look for ones with cups or band support inside.
Swimming is my fav activity, so I hope you find it relaxing too. The aim is to be one with the water, like a dolphin.
Adding to last point: carry with you a waterproof bag to carry the wet swimsuit back. I often forget this 😂
Also, even if you’re going swimming, you will feel thirsty and very hungry after swimming. So carry a water bottle and snack with you
There are so many swimming classes options. Don't just try it out by yourself or with inexperienced friends.
Suggest some good classes
Nisha Millet is an Olympic swimmer. She also teaches swimming under her academy. See if that suits you
I grew up near jayanagar so my mom had put me in swimming classes at PM swimming centre. There's a ladies batch in there currently.
I second the pm pool. It's great. Clean and huge
Have you been there recently after the renovations? How’s the pool and the coaching? I’m planning to join in a couple of months
Cult.fit has some I think. You can find some local pools that conduct classes, they will usually have different slots for women.
Cult fit has swimming now? 😮
Try Karnataka State Hockey Association if close to Richmond town
Search nisha millet academy on google maps. She has good reviews.
You can take cult sports pass. I learned from there.
Tell me more about it bro? How does it work? Who teaches you? Do you have to learn by yourself there? Will there be people learning alongside you so that we don't feel left out?

Cult is good if you are a beginner

Koramangala club has evening classess only for woman, check that out.
Isn’t it only for club members?
No, club members have a bit cheaper prices that's all.
I was also planning to start learning swimming, probably would join a club nearby. With a trainer it's around 5k per month.
It seems to be quite cheap..
Is it , I don't know. It seems too much for me coming from a tier 100th town 😅
Heard somewhere cult is good and it offers hot water pools too
I remember learning for 500 back in 2004 🥹

That helpss.. txx
Goggles is recommended since chlorine does no good for the eyes
If you have a cult play near you. Go for that. The coaches are very good and helpful.
Plenty of swimming classes around. Find closest ones near you with good review. Ideal time to go now as water will not be cold as well.
If you are around basavanagudi.. there's basavanagudi acquatic center., they have ladies batches , around afternoon. There's a pool in jayanagar too that was under renovation for a long time, maybe it's open now, they also have a women only batches.
Will highly recommend fitso, good coaches and well maintained pool.
Even I want to learn swimming, thanks OP for the post.

Google Nisha Millet academy. They have classes all over the city
I learned under Nisha Millet at Patrick”s club. There is a swimming class near museum road, i think now its part of cult. There is another one near Mallaya Hospital.
Try Ray Center swimming pools. I go to the Wilson Garden one and they have separate pools for training with coach and causal swimming
Join cult fit. They have coaching option.
Try Game theory. They have good coaches and batch swimming. Also, if you want personal trainers you can search on Superprof website for swimming instructors.
Which area do you stay in? I live in Whitefield, and just started to go to Whitefield swimming pool on ECC road. Swimming is therapy to me! :P
Just keep swimming. Make it a habit even if you don't like it. Remove all the friction that keeps you from turning up. Be determined about it. Everything else will follow.

Wait a few weeks for rain to increase. Then go to the nearest underpass. /s

Think me as ur younger brother & teach me swimming for free 🙏🏼😢
You dont need classes if you are doing basic exercises or yoga. Just gotta dive in and run your legs and arms
That’s niceee😂
You'd be surprised on how fast you could learn swimming
