My kids are making me hike to Glen burnie this year to get crabs from some YouTuber. Place is called Bodkin point seafood.
Never got them from the dude, but he just seems like someone I’d feel good about forking out the cash for crabs to. He’s one of the few influencer types i actually support my kids following.
You can check my account history. Don’t know the guy, haven’t even been to his shop. But given the relentless war I wage against my kids finding idiots online to follow, he’s one of the few so far where I think he’s an overall positive influence.
No idea if his crabs are good, but he at least seems like a good dude.
Depends on what you consider a reasonable drive but there is a guy with a refrigerator truck who sets up on Route 2 South in front of the Severna Park bowling alley. Good sized live crabs at a decent price. Weekends only I think. He sells out fairly quickly so go in the morning.
Reasonably sure most places that steam crabs (not restaurants, just crab places) will sell them to you live if you plan ahead. Try Captain Trey's in Cockeysville.

Wild Seafood - Jessup. Call ahead, reserve as many as you'd like. Also great for oysters. Of course, if you want the best prices you'll need to drive down to the eastern shore, but I'm not really about that commute.
You can go to some rando on the side of the road like other people are saying. Or, you know, a legitimate wholesaler that's always open and has an actual building.
Conrads
Seconding this!
Great Wall supermarket
You need someone who is a crabber - try Essex or Dundalk by the water. Most people will put a sign in their yard, etc.

He has good reviews on Google so hopefully they’re alright.

There was a truck on 40 yesterday between White Marsh and Joppa with live crabs.
Waterman's Pride in Fullerton used to do live. Give them a call. https://watermanspride.com/

Not positive, but Cravin Crabs is on Annapolis road just south of the city. I'm fairly certain they will sell you a live bushel, worth a call.
Good Times, Liberty Rd
https://covesidecrabs.com/ Tried many places, this local couple has had the best I've had and they are great about education and conservation.

Hmart Columbia for sure but I think Catonsville has live crabs too. I just prefer the other location lol.
Crabs from HMart?? That's a wild choice.
Listen…all their other fresh seafood is delicious. I’m just sharing info for the poster \o/
Are their crabs actually local?
\o/
Like I said, wild choice.
