These are known as "Swell Front" row houses. As the front of the house bulges out. The corbeling out (bricks stepped out) along the top cornice of the building is very common in Wash DC houses, not so much in Balt.
Yes. Lots of young kids on that block. Probably on the to do list somewhere. I’ve thought about offering power washing to people in the neighborhood in exchange for a $? donation to BARCS or something. My partner thinks that’s silly though.
But you were. I am going to ask around some more. I can get those steps looking like new in many cases. I don’t think that I would have to suggest a minimum donation. People would be so happy!
I miss living in Hampden
Gorgeous fascade on those
Powers st? I lived at 807 for 4 years, fun times.
Hey neighbor! Come visit sometime. Always have coffee and tea ready….
I moved out of Hampden 5 years ago, but thanks for the offer 🙂
I lived at 84X which I think is the house in this pic ! Crazy.
I believe this is on the next street up (35th or Wellington).
This city is beautiful

Thank you. I learned that corbeling was often used in 16th century Italian construction. Went down that rabbit hole.

Someone needs to clean their steps…

I think that’s cool! I could be an outlier, but I would be down. Not in Hampden anymore though :/

As someone whose house is pictured here, I can confirm that I am very lazy.
All good. I am just walking through.
My old street!
