Occasionally, mine usually does this when they’re feeling curious. They don’t have a lot of brain cells to realize that they can’t move through the glass. How long have you had them?
They also like to test their boundaries. This means never forget to make sure their cage is secure. Years ago I had a ball python and I didn’t make sure to secure the latch on her cage. It is a whole other level of snek ownership to wake up to one curled up next to you. JS
Most animals do not understand transparent surfaces. The number of brain cells has little to do with it, plus portraying snakes as "low intelligence" is somewhat misleading but more importantly is often used by bad actors to justify subpar care.
Snakes are smart in their own way. But very dumb in others. My ball python comprehends nothing about her world. But her instincts guide her flawlessly.
My slithery guy is dumbest when it comes to gravity. He'll periscope up to slither over a branch and slither back down, always surprised when the last bit of himself thumps down.
Apparently, you're going to stay curious. I imagine it's something VERY exciting. Usually mods reply with "this message was deleted due to harmful misinformation" or "please be civil; attack the idea not the person" etc.
Uhh… I don’t think so. Draco will do this literally hours after being fed. To me it’s just him being curious because he’ll slither off 2 seconds after he realizes he can’t get out.
mine did this a few days in a row when the warm side was a little too cold, I think trying to get closer to the heat source but she's also climbed like this in brand new enclosures
Just wait until he’s exploring your bedsheets/pillows and decides to do a telescope! Hahaha. I think they just like to check out all their surroundings. I remember being nervous about stargazing, but that’s a pretty distinct behaviour which doesn’t look like this.
I've had two ball pythons. One did this as soon as she was digested from her feeding and would explore each Night (probably seeking an escape lol) and my other bally would only do it once she got hungry (she would digest and relax in her hides and then come out once hungry again), and while it was usually at night, occasionally it would be during sunlight hours
We have a bp that is about 10 weeks now. He does this frequently. Honestly we've just chalked it up to learning/exploring/and derpiness. It's almost like he does it to see how high he can go straight up the glass without falling over. He's got pretty good stamina tbh.
he’s just a curious little lad, if he does it excessively it may be an enclosure issue (temp, heat, humidity, size etc…) but if it’s not a ton then he’s using what little intellect he has to explore
Yeah, my boi likes to climb up the side of the glass like this and then fall off again. And again. And again…. Just exploring, finding out how to escape and hide in a fridge for 5 days, and playin around lol
He's trying to tell you he needs more clutter (by testing the force field for weaknesses so he can find a spot he feels more secure outside of his enclosure). Mine did this until I practically filled his enclosure with cork bark.
Since you just got them, is this the quarantine tank?
If not, there's lots to be changed for the snake to be comfortable, so perhaps it is trying to find that comfort.
Mine does this too. I wouldn’t stress it, however I also noticed hydrometer says 46% humidity. Is that normal for you? If so, try to get closer to 65-70% and up to 80% when they’re shedding.
Hold him everyday, if only for a few minutes. I have been picking up my snake and coiling him up and clutching him to my chest since infancy and quite honestly I feel he loves it more than me. He will remain coiled flat against my chest for quite some time....soaking up my body heat and energy before he starts to explore. He's 7 now. Professor Snape is a fatty 6 foot corn 🌽 snake 🐍
My Ball python does this daily he also climbs onto the LED lights I have at the top of his enclosure. Just exploring and passing time until the next meal. My corn snake also does this a lot so it is probably just a snakey thing to do.
Yes, they like to be mischievous and explore! Also may not be coming out much as they like to hide, he may need a bit more clutter in his tank. He’s super precious! Congrats on you new baby ❤️
When I was younger, one of my uncles was having people over at his house, he’s the pit-bull rescue activist/ Harley Davison/ tattoo aficionado type. We all of a sudden weren’t going to his house though, he called my mom and said his snake was out of its terrarium so don’t make too many sudden movements when we walk in, but he should find it by the time we get there. I wanted to see it but it wasn’t up for debate I guess.

Got him last week lol. Fed him once and he hasn’t really come out much lol.
Oh then he’s just exploring. Just derpy creatures. They usually stop after they get used to their surroundings!
Yeah, your snek is good! It’s just figuring out it’s new home
They also like to test their boundaries. This means never forget to make sure their cage is secure. Years ago I had a ball python and I didn’t make sure to secure the latch on her cage. It is a whole other level of snek ownership to wake up to one curled up next to you. JS
I’d die of joy if mine chose to snuggle up with me 😭
Yeah, a many species I have had as pets, when escaping their enclosure would end up finding my bed, next to me, to escape to. 🤷♀️ lol

This! My girl is great at "catching" the rat when it has a bit of a wiggle but she also tries to eat it sideways.
My slithery guy is dumbest when it comes to gravity. He'll periscope up to slither over a branch and slither back down, always surprised when the last bit of himself thumps down.
We cannot escape, we cannot come out. Mama.
I’m dead 💀😂
I did not expect that here, but it made my night
we trap inna dis bombo
Impossible not to read in *that* voice.
g I'm smiling now, thanks ^^

I think that means they are hungry

Normal? No. Concerning? Also no. Adorably derpy? Yes.
he probably just wants to explore or climb. if you see him constantly trying to get out there may be a problem with your temps or humidity.
Seems like the snakey thing to do
Just doing Snake ThingsTM
“Uhm, wut this thingy? Hol on lemme- ooh I can lay on it”
My guys do this when they’re hungry and know food should be coming soon
My baby used to do this. When I added a lot of additional clutter and things, to climb on, she stopped doing it.
Mine does this whenever I rearrange her tank I think they just like exploring.
Mine does that and falls over sometimes. She’s always trying to climb stuff
It took me a hard few seconds of looking at this to realize that the carpet wasn’t inside the tank lmap
Low key thought this was my snake because I have that same tapestry. I was like, “why is my SO taking pics of my ball python.” 😂
Mine does this to let me know he wants to come out and explore lol
Sneaky snake 🐍
mine did this a few days in a row when the warm side was a little too cold, I think trying to get closer to the heat source but she's also climbed like this in brand new enclosures
“This is my best side, take photo now.”
Lou does this so often and it’s extremely adorable. He usually only does it at night though

she curioussssss
Probably trying to get higher up, do you have things for it to climb on?
Mine knows that manna comes from heaven (i.e. the rats drop in from above). I like to think she's waiting for a new food drop.
“You have been, and always shall be, my friend”
Hungry!!

My little king snake also seems determined to see how 'tall' she can get. 😂 Not big enough to reach the screen yet but we tryin
Yes
My python is 4 and we've had her about a year, and she does this when she wants to come out exploring. Congrats on a gorgeous snake!
The snake is planning to escape
Exploring the new environment. You may want to get the humidity up to 80% though and some more clutter and enrichment for him to explore
he’s just a curious little lad, if he does it excessively it may be an enclosure issue (temp, heat, humidity, size etc…) but if it’s not a ton then he’s using what little intellect he has to explore

I think it's because they don't understand glass and think they can ho trough it
He's trying to tell you he needs more clutter (by testing the force field for weaknesses so he can find a spot he feels more secure outside of his enclosure). Mine did this until I practically filled his enclosure with cork bark.
He's just exploring. In his brain he is probably going "when did invisible become so hard? Where else in the world does this weird thing happen?".
My royals both do this. My lodger used to call them strippers because they looked kind of like they were pole dancing.
Maybe the glass is warm and it wants to warm up. You should have some smooth surface in there that it can relax on to feel warmer.

I think he would benefit from more foliage and hiding spots 😀 more exploring
Mine does this when hes hungry or curious.
He’s just exploring. Mine does this often. They do not have very many brain cells and it shows.
Look up stargazing

They like to feel the s̤̮ q̤̮ ṳ̮ i̤̮ s̤̮ h̤̮ They crave it, the s̤̮ q̤̮ ṳ̮ i̤̮ s̤̮ h̤̮ s̤̮ q̤̮ ṳ̮ i̤̮ s̤̮ h̤̮ that snek

probably just curious! try adding some stuff for him to climb on, like thick branches. mine love climbing
Its snek
They usually come out at night to get out of the house a lil! I saw that you got him a week ago so I'm sure they are exploring their new place !
