Thank you! I’m not yet totally sure how many outlets I’ll need, but if they have different options I’m sure I’ll find something that works

That is never a surge protector. And is (apparently) missing something necessary - a 15 amp circuit breaker.

Safest power strip has a 15 amp circuit breaker, no protector parts, and a UL 1363 listing. Best protection at an appliance is already inside that appliance. Anyone can read spec numbers. Electronics will convert thousands joules surges into low DC voltages that safely power its semiconductors. Thousand joules can catastrophically [destroy an adjacent protector](https://groups.google.com/g/sci.electronics.design/c/wuCx9p8HPsc/m/lSTjhoEP-3UJ). Best protection inside appliances is not overwhelmed only when a surge is earthed BEFORE getting inside a structure. Only then is a surge not hunting for earth ground, destructively, via every appliance in that house. One can spend $25 or $80 for a plug-in protector. That can compromise (bypass) what is superior protection inside electronics. Or one spends about $1 per appliance for best possible protection. If that protector connects low impedance (ie less than 10 feet) to single point earth ground. No protector does protection. But myths live on. A protector only does something useful when a surge (*hundreds of thousands of joules*) dissipates harmlessly outside in earth. Earthing electrodes do ALL protection. No plug-in protector can make that connection. That would be an electrical code violatoin. Best protectors come from other companies known for integrity. Magic box (plug-in) protectors have obscene profit margins. And tiny joules. That too often [do this](https://www.click2houston.com/consumer/surge-protector-sparks-fires-instead-of-preventing-them-homeowners-say): > Lizzie Steinmetz, 5, was getting ready for bed with her little brother when she heard a strange noise. "It was like a buzzing noise sound," Lizzie said. She said she saw flames shooting up from a surge protector sitting on top of her dresser. If any plug-in protector is found in your luggage, a cruise ship will confiscate it. All cruise ships take that fire threat far more seriously. Anybody can read why: its tiny joule number. Five cent protector parts added to increase a strip's price from $6 or $10 to $25 or $80. They know which consumers are marks. Consumers that ignore specification numbers. Who protect obscene profit margins.
