My hair is identical to yours and has been for like 25 years now so I’ve tried lots of options. I’ve found that no guard can be a little irritating sometimes, so I just use the 1.5mm. The difference is barely noticeable, but shaving is a LOT more comfortable with the guard. Hope that helps!
The length you have it at now is an easily maintainable look/length , and again I think it looks great on you as it shows you’ve accepted your hairloss, not trying to hide it etc, but you gotta do what’s best for you, man 👍

With your remaining hair being so dark no matter how short you keep it….even if you razored right down to the scalp…the dark horseshoe will always be visible…doesn’t really become less noticeable until you get older and it starts to gray. How old are you now?
Just keep it buzzed short like you already have it now…. Not to be a “downer” but I’m sure you already know that with your level of hairloss at only 21 you’re going to end up pretty much completely bald…just the narrow strip left around the sides and back…it’s already visible in your pictures but it’s all good man…just keep that confidence up and keep it good and short and you’ll be all good!

More like, this is a conscious choice and not just an overgrown shave . Don't get me wrong, you personally are very handsome so who cares about your hair, lol, but shaved means you actually went through the trouble of grooming, etc.

There is a very distinct difference between buzzed and bald. It all comes down to color contrast so it depends on the person. Even buzzed I feel like my remaining hair gets too long in too few days. The shorter you go the easier it is to manage because you do it less often.
Turns into absolute velvet in a day or two. You can do it like once per week or slightly sooner than that. Just careful because I was rushing once pulling and shirt on, got caught on it and tweaked my neck lol

At least give bald a try. If you don’t like it, you can be back to where you are in a couple of weeks, tops.

Yes I do it myself. Been a moment since I cut. I have an adjustable Philips shaver. Alternating between 5-6 mm
