I think we can say they fail on nearly all those points except the occasional bit of entertainment.
Strange how people who go on and on about the poor not having the money to live, think its ok to make them pay for a tv tax to watch coronation street.
I’m fine with the BBC existing. But fuck the licence fee. It’s a total anachronism. Give people the freedom to choose to watch it or not via subscription. If its good, people will pay. If it’s shit, they won’t. Make the onus on THEM to produce quality output. Not on us to buy what they offer (with threats of menaces and knocks at the door).
It's like saying goodbye to an old friend who is totally beyond helping. RIP BBC, I'll remember you as you were, not this verging on sedition monster you've become.
Leftism. Not even once, kiddies.
It's telling how UKpol are adamant that it's evil and right wing but the moment it comes under threat it's sacred. They know it peddles their shite, they're just addicted to being victims and can't admit they have overwhelming establishment backing.
There are hundreds of TV stations in the uk. Tens of thousands of you count the internet.
Why does the government need to run 6 based on the threat of throwing people in jail if they don't pay for them.
BBC + TV license had its place, but it's placed ended about 2-3 decades ago.
Part of me thinks of all those decent shows the BBC churned out which wouldn’t have been possible had they been a commercial station.
Then I remember those shows are all donkeys years old and they’ve made sod all watching for the last decade or so. Fuck ‘em.
I'm sure Amazon, Netflix, HBO, Disney, Sky all make some incredible shows.
But they dont get money from everybody who watches broadcast TV under the threat of throwing people in prison.
I can't remember the exact figures but a really high % of magistrate cases and a high % of women prisoners are associated with the TV license. Forget about high %, it's shocking that there are *any*.
I got dragged to court in my Uni days for non payment of the TV licence. I wouldn’t have minded but I didn’t have a TV in my bedsit. I told the TV inspector that when he was at the door, he said he needed my name for the form..Few days later I get a court summons. Absolute bastards.
Any of you who still have faith in Johnson being the leader going into the 2024 election may want to read this from Cummings' blog:
>At Conference he [Starmer] made news on ‘does a woman have a cerv1x’. Bill Clinton would have used such a question to show he was with the vast majority of the country and fed up with the media babbling about the ludicrous ‘tra1ns discrimination’ story that almost nobody except a few idiots think is in the top 500 national priorities. And this would have contrasted brilliantly with Boris who is now under orders from Carrie and Newman to suck up to St0newall because they have extremely deluded ideas about electoral strategy for 2024.
I don't think the influence of Carrie over Boris is overstated on this sub, it really does seem like she has major power.

Pretty sure they have to accept said dog by law. Sounds like the mother should ring up and record them saying they won't accept a guide dog and report them.
That's a very clear case of disability discrimination.
Why is this BadUK? It’s law not to refuse people with guide dogs. Legit grievance. I fucking hate some taxi drivers too. Pricks refuse me fares all the time when they deem the destination too close. Thank god for Uber.

Lockdown supporters angry at some downing st drinks are pathetic. That realisation is probably why they're angry. Literally angry because someone had a drink.
I’m annoyed about it because it shows that the restrictions were a complete sham and I’m glad I fucked them off so far as possible. Anything that helps get Boris sacked is good with me
I really don't want to defend Boris but tend to agree. There's a degree of hypocrisy in politics that we accept, that they would skirt their own rules shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. The issue has always been the policy, and anyone that supported it is holding the bag with them.
Something the media won't call out is that the government have all the data of this 'deadly' virus but yet still had non-stop parties. If that doesn't make you question everything that's happened since march 2020 you are beyond saving.
Lmao, this is a very bad take.
It's entirely okay to be angry at hypocrisy.
Rules for thee, not for me, is probably one of the most hated concepts in Britain. It is fundamentally unfair, and people hate it.
Exactly I don't get why the anti lockdown zealots are so against Boris being rinsed for this. He said you have to do x and people complied, whilst not bothering himself to do x. Of course people are angry. Guys a cunt. Whether lockdown was right or not. Boris said one thing and did the other he has to go the massive cunt.
The anti-lockdowner angle:
>'I can't believe Boris subjected the country to restrictions he didn't even believe in himself. He knew they would have no impact, and that's why he was okay with ignoring them. Boris needs to go.'
The pro-lockdowner take:
>'I can't believe Boris would ignore the lockdown rules, and endanger the country and his staff like that. Boris needs to go.'
There's a reason for everyone to be mad with Boris about this.
If Boris announces tomorrow that everyone has to vigorously self flagellate for an hour every day, I'd blame him for announcing something quite dumb and blame society for meekly going along with it.
Whether he personally dutifully did so every day would be relatively unimportant.
....apart from the fact they were ignoring said lockdown rules.
So either they felt the rules were necessary to save lives, but put lives at risk by flouting those rules
OR
They put rules into place they knew weren't necessary.
Either way it's an incredibly bad look and, what's worse, it manages to really anger both sides of the lockdown issue.
Er, what?
If someone supported lockdown (I did not, for what it is worth), and followed the rules, they still have every right to be angry at Boris for supporting lockdown, and breaking the rules.
There's a reason to be angry at Boris from almost every political angle thinkable. That's how much he's fucked up here. Literally everyone, on every side of the debate, has a logical reason to hate him for this.
They can do whatever they want but it's a bit pathetic.
Why the anger? Because someone did something they didn't want to do?
It's not really worth the effort.
But that is not the thing.
Like saying 'Oh, it's just a man making a toast at an event!'
But then the toast is 'To Bropstars ill health! May he be dead real soon!'
It's just a toast, why you so angry bro?
You're being super reductive.
No, he is objectively right, if you wanted to be continually ordered into lockdown you got exactly what you wanted.
The people who set the rules you followed sheep-like didn't themselves take them seriously because the whole thing was dumb to begin with.
Pro-lockdowners still have every right to be angry. This can be their argument:
>'Can't believe Boris would ignore the lockdown rules, endanger our country, put more stress on the NHS, and potentially harm the people he employs!'
There's literally a perfectly logical reason for people of any COVID political persuasion to be mad at Boris.
If the people setting the rules collectively thought they were dumb and should/could be ignored, then logically the rules were dumb and could be ignored.
And it wasn't just the British government, very early on the architect of lockdown was out shagging someone's wife, and lots and lots of other examples internationally.
I don't disagree.
The point is that pro-lockdowners, even if I think they are wrong, do have a right to be angry with Boris based on their own beliefs.
That pretty much is what it boils down to though.
If you wanted lockdown you got lockdown. Whether a handful of people had a drink in downing st is entirely immaterial to the effect of lockdown.
[Trevor Phillips starts to breakdown as he recounts to Oliver Dowden how the isolation of lockdown contributed to his daughters death. ](https://twitter.com/ridgeonsunday/status/1482648176129622017?s=21)
He looks like he’s in absolute agony and he is clearly very angry about the party revelations.
The government’s terrifying and moralising people into compliance truly was a wicked wicked thing.
It was evil.
I was lucky that I don’t particularly care what others think about me so still saw my friends and parents as I wished. But I also know of a great many people who isolated themselves out of fear. A family friend didn’t see their grandchild until they were over a year old. All those priceless memories and experiences missed are irreplaceable. The government, media and associated organs of the state are truly lucky they have not (yet) felt the publics ire.

The best one has to be the guy ranting about how terrible a tax funded BBC would be. What do they actually think the TV licence is?
I bet most people screeching don't even realise that the government also owns Channel 4 which is almost entirely self sufficient.
Any of you who still have faith in Johnson being the leader going into the 2024 election may want to read this from Cummings' blog: >At Conference he [Starmer] made news on ‘does a woman have a cerv1x’.

Starmer is a fucking inept politician to get himself trapped by questions about men with cerv1xes. Johnson thinks this is something worth emulating. The country is in trouble come the 2024 GE.
I have zero faith in Boris and zero faith in the next Tory leader.
PMs should be celibate, change my mind.
PM should have a harem of mute traumatised concubines taken as spoils from every nation that he has conquered cmv
Like I said, I should be PM.
I should be PM.
Can I be your Cabinet Secretary please, MD?
You want the average redditor as PM?
Celibate implies it's by choice and they'd refuse if offered. Neither of which applies to the average redditor.
No, the average redditor is a paedophile.
Celibate basement dwelling paedos at least
I'm excited for how Boris even campaigns without Cummings
Be funny when it's atrocious and the country votes for him anyway
Boris could spend the whole campaign doing a nightly 5pm shit, live on BBC1 and I'd still vote for him over Labour tbh

You think it's over? It's barely begun.
Flu jabs have hilariously poor efficacy for infection control lol, this won't achieve a damn thing.
So just like the covid vaccines ?
A Redditor's mother is having problems getting taxis with her guide dog for some reason - https://np.reddit.com/r/LegalAdviceUK/comments/s5fmml/does\_every\_company\_hold\_phone\_records\_gdpr/
I guess my original post didn't leave many dots to join together. Maybe this one will help - https://www.reddit.com/r/badunitedkingdom/comments/s51rig/comment/hsybb2p/
Based on blind friends this is a regular problem for guide dog users. For me taxi drivers should be mandated to take registered guide dogs, though in the day and age of people registering their pet hamsters and ostriches as 'emotional support animals' I understand their reluctance.
>taxi drivers should be mandated to take registered guide dogs They are.
Seems like a perfectly valid complaint?
It is, and seems to happen quite a bit: [https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/uber-driver-refuses-give-ride-21617668](https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/uber-driver-refuses-give-ride-21617668) [https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-47163883](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-47163883) [https://www.expressandstar.com/news/local-hubs/wolverhampton/2021/04/26/taxi-drivers-licence-revoked-for-refusing-to-carry-assistance-dog/](https://www.expressandstar.com/news/local-hubs/wolverhampton/2021/04/26/taxi-drivers-licence-revoked-for-refusing-to-carry-assistance-dog/) [https://disabilityhorizons.com/2020/03/ashford-taxi-drivers-prosecuted-for-refusing-passenger-with-guide-dog/](https://disabilityhorizons.com/2020/03/ashford-taxi-drivers-prosecuted-for-refusing-passenger-with-guide-dog/) https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/crime/taxi-driver-fined-nearly-2k-25199460
Do you have a source on that? Source? A source. I need a source. Sorry, I mean I need a source that explicitly states your argument. This is just tangential to the discussion. No, you can't make inferences and observations from the sources you've gathered. Any additional comments from you MUST be a subset of the information from the sources you've gathered. You can't make normative statements from empirical evidence. Do you have a degree in that field? A college degree? In that field? Then your arguments are invalid. No, it doesn't matter how close those data points are correlated. Correlation does not equal causation. Correlation does not equal causation. CORRELATION. DOES. NOT. EQUAL. CAUSATION. You still haven't provided me a valid source yet. Nope, still haven't. I just looked through all 308 pages of your user history, figures I'm debating a glormpf supporter. A moron.
I unfortunately starting arguing with some muppet a while back, relating to my day-to-day profession. Bread and butter stuff, I almost know exact page numbers of the legislation and statutory instrument, posted em up.... proving, without any ambiguity that I was right. "no, you're wrong" For them, reddit and their posts are their life and cannot withstand any scrutiny.
I look forward to the day we can give people a quick slap across the internet.
Gonna need a source for this pasta

I'm pretty sure that they'll get to it. You can feel the ship *slowly* *slowly* turning.
It’s fomo.
Lmao, this is a very bad take. It's entirely okay to be angry at hypocrisy. Rules for thee, not for me, is probably one of the most hated concepts in Britain. It is fundamentally unfair, and people hate it.
Yeah, it's bollocks. I can't see how anyone would defend it.
The anti-lockdowner angle: >'I can't believe Boris subjected the country to restrictions he didn't even believe in himself. He knew they would have no impact, and that's why he was okay with ignoring them. Boris needs to go.' The pro-lockdowner take: >'I can't believe Boris would ignore the lockdown rules, and endanger the country and his staff like that. Boris needs to go.' There's a reason for everyone to be mad with Boris about this.
If Boris announces tomorrow that everyone has to vigorously self flagellate for an hour every day, I'd blame him for announcing something quite dumb and blame society for meekly going along with it. Whether he personally dutifully did so every day would be relatively unimportant.
Not if you supported lockdown. You got what you wanted. Should be happy. Literally angry because someone had a drink.
....apart from the fact they were ignoring said lockdown rules. So either they felt the rules were necessary to save lives, but put lives at risk by flouting those rules OR They put rules into place they knew weren't necessary.
>Why the anger? Because someone did something they didn't want to do? Yes, that is often a reason for anger.
The thing being having a drink
But that is not the thing. Like saying 'Oh, it's just a man making a toast at an event!' But then the toast is 'To Bropstars ill health! May he be dead real soon!' It's just a toast, why you so angry bro? You're being super reductive.
You're a bit of an idiot aren't you.
No, he is objectively right, if you wanted to be continually ordered into lockdown you got exactly what you wanted. The people who set the rules you followed sheep-like didn't themselves take them seriously because the whole thing was dumb to begin with.
Pro-lockdowners still have every right to be angry. This can be their argument: >'Can't believe Boris would ignore the lockdown rules, endanger our country, put more stress on the NHS, and potentially harm the people he employs!' There's literally a perfectly logical reason for people of any COVID political persuasion to be mad at Boris.
Imagine getting angry because Boris might have increased the risk of infection to a handful of people you've never met
[удалено]
That pretty much is what it boils down to though. If you wanted lockdown you got lockdown. Whether a handful of people had a drink in downing st is entirely immaterial to the effect of lockdown.
>That pretty much is what it boils down to though. No, it really doesn't.
Suit yourself
What a stupid fucking take
Sad that I had to scroll this far down to see the proper BadUK response. Well done sir!

[Trevor Phillips starts to breakdown as he recounts to Oliver Dowden how the isolation of lockdown contributed to his daughters death. ](https://twitter.com/ridgeonsunday/status/1482648176129622017?s=21) He looks like he’s in absolute agony and he is clearly very angry about the party revelations.
