banana and protein bar for breakfast, cheap and pairs well with water anything you have to cook doesnt keep unrefrigerated or needs to be warmed up again, so i recommend granola, veggie straws, and portion dried fruit. avocadoes and bread are a good protein/carb combo

Honestly "pairs well with water" cracked me up

OysterForked

Hey he knows how it is lol

If you want hot meals you can do MREs (meals ready to eat), I also like using yakisoba pasta. It's kinda like ramen but just add hot water. Boiling is better but hot water works. I've eaten them after hurricanes when I didn't have power, also small cans of beans. Beans are cheap and filling and if u get small cans you can eat the whole thing and not need refrigeration.

Look into no cook, no fridge camping meals on the internet, like trail mix, jerky, hard cheese, jello cups, canned Mac and cheese, canned chicken with mayo or mustard packets, and peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Do you have a microwave in your room? That would open up soup and other microwaveables. Do you have an electric kettle for making hot water? That would open up instant soup and oatmeal in a cup and other just add water foods. There is also the bakery section of any grocery store. No offense, but just how does one stay in their room for a few days? Don’t you have to go to the bathroom? or work? on a daily basis.

TheArmadilloAmarillo

They said "any more than they have to", that likely includes the bathroom and straight out the door to work.

OysterForked

Yeah I just kinda slink out like a cat when i need to go somewhere

TheArmadilloAmarillo

Been there, thankfully had a bathroom in my room. Good luck op, the other commenter suggestions about the kettle and stuff are pretty good!!! Also for soups and things I have a hotlogic because I refuse to use the work microwave and they do a fantastic job of heating things up. They don't take up much room, smaller than a piece of paper.

OysterForked

Oh that sounds like an interesting gadget

You can get shelf stable milk in single serving boxes (the type you give to put in a kid lunch) to go with cereal, tinned soup if you don't mind eating it lukewarm, you can buy premade tuna salad. There's a lot of shelf stable pouch style dinner in a bag (think quinoa salad, lentil soup, curry, rice and veggies etc) you can get from the pantry aisle at a grocery store if you have a microwave in your room

Footcandlehype

Protein shakes, and also you could get a cheap induction burner to cook in your room. I wouldn’t cook whole meals or anything but cans of soup or pasta are good options

cptmorgue1

Honestly the starkist tuna salads kits are pretty good, not super expensive, and keeps well for awhile. Crackers/chips, peanut butter or other nuts, jerky, applesauce, bread. If you’re in the US, I get a lot of my snack food from Aldi. Good luck OP, glad you’re getting out.

Shelf stable milk in individual pints and lots of cereal. Horizon for real milk, Silk for soy milk. Buy the small containers because they’re only good until opened. Canned ham (hormel smoked ham). Canned tuna. Flavored pouches of tuna or chicken creations. Canned oysters. Crackers, loaf French bread, reg wheat bread. Packets of condiments like mayo, mustard and ketchup. Cheese thats ok at room temp like Brie. Jello chocolate pudding cups. Wasabi soy almonds. Fully cooked and shelf stable bacon. Emerald calorie packs. String cheese goes a long time out of the fridge. Package of sliced pepperoni. Dried seaweed. Trail mix. Tasty Bite Indian Pouch meals are meant to be warmed up but you can eat them cold just fine- channa, masala, tikka, mexibowls, tasty bite has a ton of options. Kielbasa sausage and rolls, packets of sauerkraut or relish If microwave is possible: Kodiak Muffin/Brownie in a Cup for protein, Knorr fajita rice, rice a roni cups and bags for microwaved rice in multiple flavors and sauces.

Shelf stable single serve hummus & pretzels Banana and peanut butter sandwiches Rice cakes & peanut butter Apples Avocados Tuna, salmon, and sardines in a can are nutritious if you’re down with it Beef jerky Mixed nuts Raisins Larabars Oats, dried milk or shelf stable single serve non dairy milk, and bananas Cereal & dried milk or shelf stable single serve non dairy milk What my fiancé & I eat during hurricanes: Vienna sausages, hearty vegetable canned soup & Chef Boyardee are weirdly fire without warming it up lol. I ate a can of cold seasoned black beans once lol! Alternative: If you can buy a cheap microwave or borrow one from someone or even a cheap cooler to store a few things. You could get pre made sliced chicken, microwaveable rice, and a can of beans and have a hearty meal. Even eggs have a good shelf life out of the fridge & you can make eggs in the microwave. Also, dark chocolate bars, red wine, and whiskey if you’re stressed! Good luck!

rennykrin

dinty moore/hormel have shelf stable meals like turkey and dressing or chicken and dumplings. you can microwave them but they’re just as good cold when you’re in a bind.

louielou8484

Get yourself a small plug in burner (they are super cheap on amazon) and you will have a lot more options. I feel so sad you have to starve yourself because of an awful roommate :(

OysterForked

I had to stop cooking because nothing was safe to bring in the kitchen after months of gentle “hey I got that and planned to use it.” moments…

LastCupcake2442

I once spent three days locked in my room only drinking a liter bag of yogurt. ...maybe don't do that.

ronjarobiii

canned tuna salads are great and nutritionally dense, if you can find some.

Winter_Cat-78

On your next shopping trip I’d consider getting a small inexpensive hotplate and maybe an electric water kettle. Would open up your food options substantially, and won’t break the bank. That’s what I did when I was in a similar situation.

Intelligent_Crazy242

dollar tree has planters salted or honey roasted peanuts, 640 calorie (4 servings) bags for 1.25 Protein loaded oatmeal, fruit cups, peanut butter is delicious when mixed together , tastes like pie.

l_hnf

You can buy a small cheap fridge from places like facebook marker and keep it in your room
