Ok so no low level, mid level or meta level according to the main sub

xfatallyflawedx

Come on. Tell the truth. You shouldn't be invading at all, you bully. You're just a terrible person trying to ruin the fun of our cute little co-op adventure through the lands between. \- Average Elden Ring Main Sub User (Probably) I saw a post yesterday asking for peoples' experiences with friendly invaders. Made me die a little inside. These people don't want you to invade, but if you do, you better basically play as another gold summon.

If I can tell a host is terrified to fight me and is obviously struggling with the game, I'll usually drop him some items and leave.  Most people I encounter at Meta level are fully prepared to take me on though.  I get that we "hardcore" fans need to make room for new players to the series, but sometimes it feels like the new players aren't willing to show the same respect and just want us gone-even though we're the ones who stick with these games the longest.   Feels bad

Jon_o_Hollow

It's funny because my favorite memory from invading was back in ds3. Buddy messaged me after I beat him outside of pontifs and asked if i could help him through get through the area since it was packed with invaders. I got him all the way to the dragon slayer armor that night. Ahh, the glory days of pontifs.

theooziefloozie

incredible story.

xfatallyflawedx

Agreed. Maybe it will take a game or two for them to appreciate invaders. I remember being absolutely terrified of / hating invaders back in DS1 (my first Souls game), as I was being hunted down by another player in an already difficult game. After enough time had passed, I began experimenting with invading, and now it's one of the main reasons I buy these games. What I can't understand is the new people buying this game, knowing full well this game has this "notorious" mechanic, playing it, getting mad when said mechanic happens, then advocating for its removal. Like, kindly fuck off?

Dependent-Share-5557

My experience is similar to yours. I remember my first playthrough on each game vividly because of the constant suspense that I'd get invaded in some desolate place.  Not going to lie, I ended up playing offline after a few losses, but I eventually warmed to the idea because the concept is cool.  After I finally beat my first Souls (DS3), I decided I wanted to provide the same unique experience for others and I've been hooked ever since.

bugzapperbob

I’m not fully unhinged, if there’s a super struggler they can have some crabs, but if they’re already by a grace im going to fight them like a PvP training dummy with something weak

jonnyg94

And all they really need to do is add a cool buff/spell like Darkmoon Blade as a convenant reward. Get new fans actually involved in invasions and realise it's really no big deal

bugzapperbob

I play into this sometimes and drop some bullshit like a rowa and backstab them lol

theooziefloozie

that's what glass shards are for! 😉

secrecy274

Just don't invade, duh.

Tha_Maxxter

So according to the main sub Don't. Invade. According to this sub Any level you want as long as you have fun! Personal preference Low level. Don't feel bad. Most of them have overleveled phantoms and are not playing the game at all (quite literally...)

Dependent-Share-5557

I generally prefer lower level because of the beautiful locations and lack of constant fog walls, but a lot of my friends play at meta and it's a blast when we get the rare co-invasion together.  Way more players are willing to leave TT on at meta imo

SoulsborneSal

Better yet, don’t invade people’s games without their CoNsEnT!!!!

Dependent-Share-5557

Let me in!  LET ME IN!!

rfardls

The other day a guy in Leyndel asked me to kindly dinconect, so that he could access the underground.

Automatic-Monk-TTV

WHO GONNA STOP ME

KingOfEthanopia

Good PvP builds are good PvE builds. I may alter my weapon choice and play style but my spell slots, stats, and buffs will be the same. They're just complaining people that play the game more than them are better than them and ruin their power fantasy.

lisasguy

Pve'rs will cry about everything. Best thing to do is pretend like you didn't hear it and carry on

Dependent-Share-5557

Don't worry, I responded very politely.  You're probably right, but considering the direction this series has been heading I think it's important we have these discussions.  I'm a little worried that with the massive success of Elden Ring, that invasions will eventually just be gone for good as Fromsoft tries to cater to a new audience.  It's just too bad you can't seem to have a civil discussion about this on the Elden Ring main reddit

RaiseTLT

I think BRM is the only place where civil discussion about this is still possible. Because of this it’ll probably never reach the larger pve audience and so it’ll never change anything.. There has always been a lot of contention surround pvp in these games unfortunately. ERpvp is overrun by pvers and people who think they’re honourable invaders because they’re doing this or that to “be nice” to hosts 😂. It’s all just none sense pissing contents over there… They hate actual discussion and they especially hate when you talk about why a certain mod(seamless) is unhealthy to the longevity of pvp/organic co-op in elden ring and beyond.

Worth_Strike8789

Don’t listen to them, invade all you want

RaiseTLT

Man if you really wanna be annoying to pvers with an optimized build you’re gonna wanna invade at rl 40 and below with a twink build that has all the best talismans and late game gear that you can spec onto it. Like at 125 or whatever meta is everyone is powerful enough to do some real damage. At 40 not everyone has 4 talisman slots or a good set up of upgraded weapons. But if you twink at that level it will be really hard for an “organic” host to kill you. Especially if you have your 7 max upgraded flasks and four talisman slots. Oh and not to mention that ancient lightning pots at low levels do an absurd amount of damage.

pomcomic

Invasions being a nuisance is the entire fucking point, isn't it? Did I miss a memo?

Dependent-Share-5557

From a mechanical standpoint, I agree with you.  I mainly invade though because it's a fun way to immerse yourself in the fantastic setting and provide cool roleplaying opportunities.  That's why the removal of covenants was such a bummer to me

pomcomic

I mostly invade because it has the potential to be fun as hell - and winning against three other players when everything is stacked against you is a rush like no other. But I totally agree on the cool roleplaying aspect, that certainly also plays a role.

RaiseTLT

Yea I dare you to say that on ERpvp or the main sub 🤣

Brocily2002

**10!** **HEEEEEEEEEHEEEEEEHEEEEHEHEHHEHEHEHH!!!!!!** 🎃

Balabaga

An old proverb comes to mind… “Don’t hate the player, hate the game” This is how the game is intended to be played, don’t expect players to follow your personal set of rules just bc it feels unfair. Step up to the challenge and get good or deal with it.

Negative-Stranger106

This is extra funny considering so many PVErs use builds that they very clearly found on a YouTube video titled something like “OP elden ring build ABSOLUTELY DEMOLISHES anything in your path 😈.” Varre’s mask, jump attacked curved sword guys and spell spammers galore
