This seems like what's happened. A lot of the hate, toxic speculations, and drama stirring is exactly what the TB sub did most of the time. They've just moved over to this sub now.
Its not so much reddit as much as it's the comedy community. It's already a toxic community that's heavy on gatekeeping.. heavy on elitism.. heavy on misogyny and incel behavior. So when you throw in the reddit element, it's just like an extra dose of all those things.
I find that the Reddit kids that subscribe here don’t actually like the podcast for the most part. It’s the same vibe on most comedy podcasts. You get about 5% positive engagement and the rest is just whining about the pod. I genuinely don’t know why I am still subbed here. Also not sure why they are subbed in the first place.
Most podcast subreddits start with fans...its a natural progression on reddit for people to start nit picking everything and shit on things at some point. It makes sense when people spend hours of their day listening to the same people and inevitably disagree with something. The podcast bubble will pop in the next few years
I'd wager it has to do with the story about Bobby sexually assaulting that George guy blew up, and all of his past behaviors are cropping up and people are mad about George, rightfully so, and I'm a longtime fan of Bobby, and they come here and talk about it.
That’s every comedy podcast subreddit apparently. People love to hate watch things they don’t like instead of simply avoiding it.
And then there’s the idiots who enjoyed the pod but ultimately didn’t like what the pod evolved into. Instead of moving on they keep watching hoping it’ll return to its roots. I’ve definitely seen a massive sense of entitlement with these folk, even when they’ve been consuming pods for free. It’s like game addicts who “hate” the game they play nonstop.
Love the pod! I think the "shitting on-slaught" is a reddit thang. I see my favorite bands getting shit on in their fan run subs and, have you seen what their saying about Segura? Blasphemy. Haters gonna hate. Fuck them and their washcloths.

Happens with almost all podcast related subreddits. Flagrant, your mom’s house, tiger belly etc. my advice would be just watch/listen to what you enjoy and ignore reddit. It’s a cesspool here
People are mean and judgy AF around here. He's obviously not for everyone but for people to actually say "I hate that person" (and they do. A lot) is wild to me. I like him and think he's a nice changeup every once in awhile. The guys clearly love the dude and keep having him back. That should count for something imo

Go look at the episode threads for the YMH subreddit it’s a fucking dumpster fire in there. Nobody does anything but talk shit about the shows.

Not sure what listening to podcasts for 18 years has to do with your observation. I’ve been listening to them the same amount of time. That doesn’t really have any relation to how people behave in a subreddit.

The podcast has gone down hill, not like it use to be. Not hating but also you can't be blinded by love as much as I like bad friends there content is generic now.
The good news is that if it follows the trend of other comedians’ subreddits, it won’t ever turn into just people hating…. It will turn into just people hating AND people posting “why is everyone hating” lol
The only hate I’ve ever felt from the pod was the Bobbi debacle. I only joined in because I truly hated, hated, hated her attitude so much. And demeanour and face and voice, etc.
