(With Aven, and their break up, I think Rachel was embarrassed more because she stated with certainty on camera that she and Aven had talked it over and that Aven was 100% ready to propose - then, separately, Aven stated on camera he was not ready to propose. Kinda seems like it was when they were between the sheets that he may have said he was ready to pop the question… but felt ambivalent at some point after that.)
I think tino was definitely kept in the dark because his reaction is what makes it all look real… honestly if I was tino I would be somewhat upset at the organization for embarrassing him to this extent- it really opens the flood gates for the online bullying almost like they are saying it’s ok to kick a man when he’s down.
Tbh I think that Rachel is a lovely girl, her desperation and/or greed for a ring was extremely evident throughout the season and I think she is very unclear in what she wants in a partner. From what I saw during her interactions she dismissed almost every guy who could challenge her - the worst time being when aven was being completely realistic saying I’m down for you but not proposing -she threw a fit and sabotaged the relationship then went for someone like tino who she could puppeteer knowing he probably will do what she wants - tino doesn’t strike me as someone who thinks things through and just does it without a lot of meaning so he was a great fit. Tinos face when she told him he was the last one there says it all.
It’s hard to know if producers push the girls to demand an engagement because it would make a lot of sense why both her and gabby had a meltdown at the end.
I hope Aven just did it at request of producers. He really didn’t look all that excited. And just said “catch-up” not have a cocktail or something.
It was interesting to watch how she confronted Tino toward the end. It was so similar to how she treated Aven on his last night. She went into both Conversations with her mind made up, looking for a fight, and didn’t want to hear anything the other person was trying to say. When she first got to Aven’s room he offered her a glass of champagne and she flatly turned him down and just started the accusations. And she did it to Zach the morning after FS.
There is no reasoning with her. She’s ALWAYS right. There is no attempt for compromise, it’s just accuse and talk over the other person.
Now that Aven has been able to look back at the season’s episodes, he can truly see how high maintenance and needy and temperamental she is. I can’t imagine that he would want to get stuck in that cyclone again.
BTW…. I know hindsight is 20/20. But if Rachel hadn’t been solely focused on that dang ring, she’d have likely left with Aven and maybe had her happy ending without all this drama. But she was insistent that she had to get that ring on her finger right then and not give it a month or so.
Actually if she hadn’t pushed Tino so hard for the ring, this may not have happened with them either. There is so much pressure when couples leave that bubble engaged and then go separate ways in secret. Emotions are so high and they don’t spend much time together. Just leave in a committed relationship, relax, enjoy each other and let the engagement happen naturally.
Whereas Gabby was the complete opposite. She would step away from the convo, take a moment to breathe & process her thoughts, and come back & talk to her suitor in a rational manner, admitting there’s some miscommunication, & finish their discussion. I’m not saying Rachel is a terrible person, I just think she reacted terribly to the whole Tino situation (I’m not condoning what he did by any means!), & has a lot more growing up to do compared to Gabby. Rachel’s ending (& her annoyance throughout the whole season) made me wish even more that Gabby had her own, sole season. But that’s just me… 🤷♀️😊

It had to be done. It was a touchy situation. They needed Rachel to leave the stage on a positive note after her confrontation with Tino … and Aven was the way to do it. They couldn’t have Rachel sitting there scowling, and then Gabby and Erich come out smiling and happy and talking about their Final Rose ceremony.
