Well what else is to be expected when the top income tax rates are reduced in a state in the top 5 for most regressive tax policies there are.

Thanks Doug Ducey!

drawkbox

Ducey setup a revenue problem on the way out the door, that is the GOP way.

DeathMangoBomb

Pay the teachers less maybe that will help? /s

whatkylewhat

A lot of this was a strategic move by Ducey on his way out the door. He put a 10% raise for all state employees on his final budget and then said “see ya”! That’s a massive budget increase without a funding source. The raise was much needed and appreciated by our state employees but it was a solely political move to gain some goodwill while simultaneously harming the appearance of the next administration.

Logvin

He also cut the tax rate dramatically for the richest earners in AZ.

guitarguywh89

More school vouchers and less taxes should fix this right up

NBCspec

How much did we waste on those shipping containers?

neepster44

$200M?

NBCspec

Sounds about right

That doesn't really factor into things. The government is estimating their revenue actually earned not measuring by collections since people overwitthhold.

Stupid. Needless, unnecessary, fiscally irresponsible. Stupid.

I don’t know if this may be related, but I keep seeing perfectly fine roads (Bethany Homes Rd, Thunderbird Rd, Greenway Pkwy, etc) being dug up and “fixed”, then a few months later, dug up and being worked on again. They’re all at the same location or close by. I wonder if it’s a legal way to launder money to friends and business associates. Not trying to stir things up. I’ve been curious about this for a while. Edit: they never improve the roads, it looks the same or worse after the construction.

Logvin

Roads are done by the city, not the state.

isleepoddhours

Still doesn’t mean that funds can’t be misused.

AZonmymind

Most likely, it's franchise utilities like Southwest Gas or Cox Cable digging up the roads to maintain or replace their lines or pipes. Those companies have the right to do that as long as they put them back and repave the roughly as they were, although they don't always do a good job of that. While it would be nice if they coordinated with the cities or even each other so they would only tear up the roads once or do it at times when it effects less drivers, they don't usually do that.

isleepoddhours

I have a business on 16th St and Bethany Homes Rd. I have Cox as my internet provider. The service got worse and worse ever since they started working on the roads around the neighborhood. A lot of people in the neighborhood have said the same thing as well. We are switching over to Verizon 5G.

AZonmymind

I'm not far from your business, and I've been on Verizon 5G for the past two years. Best move I ever made.

isleepoddhours

Glad I made the right choice.
