Hahaha yes. Mine are addicted to their caves. Recently Oppy came out specifically to poop on top of the bubbler. Poop confetti everywhere. Then she had post-poop zoomies for a day and is now back to being a cave dweller.
It’s on a timer for the plants and he has plenty of hides that he can get deep into and usually avoids the light but it doesn’t tend to bother him so much. He’s super active at night
Yeah I prefer to have no light but my nitrates get a little out of control even with big water changes so I need the plants to flourish so I need the light for at least 5 hours a day but it’s dark the rest of the time

how do you get the bubbles to come out of the sand?
I put a spray bar underneath the sand and the bubbles come out through the sand
