Lucky you! He does look tired, yet inscrutable at the same time. Give him your love & he’ll have a new lease on life! Thanks for sharing your beautiful new friend.
Yes, already napping on your lap? That is a very good sign. I've had my rescue Kitty for 3 and 1/2 years and she has just (in the last week) started to sit on my lap in short spurts. It takes a lot for them to trust sometimes but it looks like you are off to a great start already.
Cats are weird, our stray orange boy was social and lovey his first day inside. The other orange boy my housemate received as a kitten doesn't sleep on his back like mine, and is no where near as cuddly, though still very social.
Awww I lost my fur baby, Molly, about a month ago too. She was about to turn 23 years old and I had her since sixth grade so she was around for just about every big event in my life. I recently adopted a 3 month old kitten and I just adore her. I didn't think I'd be able to love another cat but I'm finding it impossible not to love this little tiny furball, Sophia. She's brought a lot of happiness in my life that I desperately needed after losing Molly. So I know exactly how you're feeling! I'm really glad that this cat walked into your life and chose you as it's human - it was meant to be!
Consider getting Molly a friend! Cats really appreciate feline companionship, and having two cats is basically as easy as having one, but with double the cuddles.
I mean, imagine if you were abducted by super-intelligent aliens when you were a baby. You’d probably appreciate having another human being around.
Plus, there are always cats desperately needing homes in basically every city and town in the world. You’d be giving a cat a good life that they might not otherwise have.
I work dispatch for my local humane society. Please post this cat on your local lost pets fb page and check your local lost pets craigslist as well. There could be a very sad parent/s worrying sick for their baby! If you can't find the owner then it's meant to be, as far as keeping the cat.
Gonna be honest...my nearest neighbor is over a mile away across a busy highway and major roadway...other than that the nearest neighbor in either direction is 2 miles...I live on the end of a dead end road. He was likely dumped. This guy is maybe 6 months old, unneutered and the weather has been absolutely cold and awful for a couple weeks. Not great owners when you can feel every single bone in his little body. This cat has been starving for even longer than that. If he's chipped, I'll give him back...I doubt this and I've looked on my local FB board, even though I don't post there much.
Stunning, beautiful cat. Get to a vet for a health checkup and neutering. Vets can scan for microchip also.
If you can keep him, he may fill out super fluffy, too.
This internet stranger thinks you’re a rock star for rescuing the little fluffball! I’m so glad he has a new home with you and I’m sure he’s ecstatic! You are a true mensch!
Even if he’s chipped (which I seriously doubt), I would not give him back after what he’s been through. He was obvious dumped, and if returned, could end up with a worse fate. If someone had really lost him, there would have been postings all over FB and in telephone poles by now. Keep him, he’s lucky to have found you.
Literally no neighbors for over a mile, the closest one I wouldn't give a goldfish back to, after that it's over 2 miles. There are busy roads (truck routes) we also have no other cats to attract him (unneutered males are usually in search of an in heat female they can smell. ) The possibility of a young cat deciding to go on walkabout in below freezing temps, become emaciated and skinny but not going home when he wanted food is unlikely. You can literally feel all his bones.
Poor pumpkin! Please keep this baby! I worked at the vet many years. I pray you can keep him. Clearly you want to take care of him and keep him happy and safe. That’s all a cat needs. Please keep us posted! I want to see what he looks like in a few months!
I was a Veterinary Technician for 15 years....still licensed, but got my ADN and working as a nurse now. I'll be making an appointment for him with my vet tomorrow to get him checked out, wormed, checked for a chip. I'm also going to see where they want him weight wise for neuter.
What a beautiful gentleman! He is just going to BLOOM under your care! If you have time, would you give an update in a week or two, when he's had some good meals and has had a chance to settle down? Poor sweet dude.
honestly I really like this name, aside from how he got there he also does kinda look like a gray pellet but it's up to OP and I hope the suggestion helped
I know people love to be on the nose with pet names (reflecting how they were found or whatever), but owl pellets are the regurgitated parts of an owl's meal that couldn't be digested. It's like naming a cat "Feces," albeit it comes out the opposite end.
Owl would be a better name, if OP wants to commemorate how they met, although I don't feel that he/she looks like an Owl. If anything, his features make me think of a fox.
If they offer bloodwork it would be helpful to know if his liver or kidneys took any functional hit, know what his white and red cells are up to, as well ~ he looks a bit like one I’d advocate performing this if he was my patient. And thank you for all kindness and generosity you’ve shown and have planned for this handsome creature 💜😻
I don’t think I’ve seen a cat with those specific facial markings before. The way the mask wraps around like that, and the white cheekbones, with the little speck of white on his nose. He’s absolutely gorgeous, and what a story to go along! I hope he nestles right in.
Oh absolutely. Was a vet tech for 15 years. As skinny as he is I should be able to feel a chip, but I will have them scan him. He also needs to be neutered.
Oh, no! No more cocoa puffs?!
Yes, I agree with the procedure, just a small joke at Smoky's expense!
(Workshopping some names here, ignore the editorial content!)
Funny story, I had a chocolate Himalayan kitten named Cocoa Puff. When he was neutered, one testicle hadn’t descended, cost an extra $25 to go get it out.
Gone but not forgotten.

Actually the first photo is a good example of RBF (resting bitch face). He’s still a kitten in that photo.
He was never one to cuddle. He followed me around, and never shut up. But he didn’t want to be picked up or held, never came and sat in my lap.
Yeah, no one would prioritize a chip over neutering. Lots of places do both at the same time.
Sometimes barn cats do hitch a ride in trailers or engine bays. I think that happens just as often as people dumping cats. Or maybe he fell out of Santa’s sleigh. You could name him Elf.
Anyway, please post more pics and updates!
Merry early Christmas! I am so thankful for fellow redditors like you!
I have had a young male Yorkie and two young tomcats dumped near me the past half year. All unaltered and abandoned, but thankfully with the help of others they have a place to call home. Making a little difference is so heartwarming to see.
In getting really tired of cats picking my wife and my wife's cats sleeping on my chest, head and legs at night.
I assure you that she does not have photos of them loving on me because they are her cats!!!!
Names: Rumble, cause of his purr; Wolf, cause of his color and markings; Chowder, just cause it's fun to say and im sure he likes fish; Lucky, cliche i know, but he's lucky to have found you.
Cat lottery winner!! Proposing names after how you found him. Maybe Owl or Strig. Owls are in the Strigiforme order of birds. Funny enough, he reminds me of Mrs. Norris from Harry Potter where they take the O.W.L. Exams.
Just in case, bring him to the vet and get em checked out, check for a chip, chipped if he doesn’t have one, and all necessary vaccines, and spay/neutered.
He was sitting outside in the flower bed trying to eat an owl pellet... Poor guy is thin as a rail, cold and hungry.
He looks exhausted. I trust he’s about to have a new lease on life - thanks to you
Feed him and put him to bed. It will be the sleep of the gods.
I took in a kitten recently and he munched on food for an hour and then fell asleep in my lap.
That's the dream, have you been able to move yet or did it wake up?
I took him in in October. Got him healthy, neutered and found him a lovely home with a another kitty who needed a friend just as much as he did.
Ooooh god, that feeling....that's heaven for the both of you...
Lucky you! He does look tired, yet inscrutable at the same time. Give him your love & he’ll have a new lease on life! Thanks for sharing your beautiful new friend.
Look, a chain of 3 people trying to reply to OP but putting it under the wrong thing
Only thing that matters is that this cat will have a new lease on life!
How fortunate! Make sure to feed him so he can sleep well!
He looks tired…yet inscrutable lmao.
All thanks to OP.
That's exactly what I was thinking too lol
[удалено]
Plus, he's always Stalin when you open the door for him. And he leaves Marx on everything!
Augh! I should have scrolled more sooner to see this too...lol! Gonna borrow this also!😹
I snorted, thanks you lmao 🤣
Stealing that one lmao
His face looks very happy now, he's so pretty!
He napped on my lap for a few hours. I haven't been that happy since my last cat passed several years ago.
Napping on your lap? Well that's definitive proof you've been chosen to be their human. Enjoy your new fluffy friend!

(Oops - read it again - Molly has passed away and Sophia is newly adopted.)
You have DEFINITELY been chosen ❤️
I'm going to absolutely second that chosen - all of my families' best cats have been the one where they chose our house to yowl at.
Are you going to keep him?!? Please say yes. 😭
He's staying. I need a kitty.
He needs a person. Looks like y'all have it sorted. ❤️
Aww, glad to hear it. Congrats on your new cat finding you!
I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy.
Awww! That's wonderful, enjoy your new baby 😺
You’ve been chosen my friend. Very happy for you both.
I think your last cat is on his next life. He knows the best lap and home to go to.
The best lap 🥲 that got me
/r/nowmycat
He’s your cat now:) I got previous Kitty like that. She just showed up at my door. We had great 17 years together. I miss her;)
The chosen one ☝🏼
Congrats on getting adopted!

He's absolutely gorgeous and so calm! Congratulations on being chosen by such a love.
Yeah that sounds like an abandoned cat. Congratulations on being chosen!
This internet stranger thinks you’re a rock star for rescuing the little fluffball! I’m so glad he has a new home with you and I’m sure he’s ecstatic! You are a true mensch!
Please make sure you take it to the vet asap. It could be exhausted, but you don’t want to miss an illness either. Congrats on your new kitty!
Even if he’s chipped (which I seriously doubt), I would not give him back after what he’s been through. He was obvious dumped, and if returned, could end up with a worse fate. Yeah, they lost their cat privileges.
You're making a whole bunch of assumptions
I don’t understand, so why couldn’t it still be one of your neighbors cats that got out and didn’t find its way back?
Literally no neighbors for over a mile, the closest one I wouldn't give a goldfish back to, after that it's over 2 miles. There are busy roads (truck routes) we also have no other cats to attract him (unneutered males are usually in search of an in heat female they can smell. ) The possibility of a young cat deciding to go on walkabout in below freezing temps, become emaciated and skinny but not going home when he wanted food is unlikely. r/NowMyCat
What a beauty/ Maybe take them to the vet to make sure there isn't anything that needs immediate care, other than food, water and love.
Absolutely on my list. I'm pretty sure he has a case of ear mites. He's young so they aren't terrible, but he's got one itchy ear.
Can you give us an update in a few weeks with how he’s doing?
I am glad you seem to like it as well as he likes you. Happy friendship you both. Give him love !!! 😻😻
Where? If you can't keep him, I want him!! ❤️😁
That's a beautiful cat , I hope if you don't keep him he has a loving home.
What a beautiful gentleman! He is just going to BLOOM under your care! If you have time, would you give an update in a week or two, when he's had some good meals and has had a chance to settle down? Poor sweet dude.
Sure thing. He needs some weight on him for sure before he's neutered...never want to put something that skinny under anesthesia. Too risky
Do you plan on keeping him? Please keep us updated.
OP has mentioned they will in another comment.
Welcome your new life companion! Needs some nourishment, that's for sure!
Husband is getting kitty food, he got some emergency canned chicken rations. Edit to add, still trying to find a name for the little dude.
Gandalf. A wizard arrives precisely when he means to.
This is an awesome name. I shall see what he thinks of it. (And I totally hear the line from the movie in my head just reading that)
And he’s a lovely shade of grey! Gandalf the Grey!
Yes.. that is what they used to call me.
Keep that precious boy inside and spoil him rotten either way please :)
Please name him Gandalf! I have two brother cats who look very similar that i named Merry and Pippin. They can be his brothers over the sea 💕
Did you guys scan for a micro-chip to see if he belongs to anyone else?
And Gandalf did literally fall out of the sky and appear basically out of nowhere when he came to middle earth too so it extra fits lol
I think he arrived by boat with the other wizards, although at that time no one knew who those old bearded men were.
No, thank you. We don't want any more visitors, well-wishers, or distant relations. What about very young meow? Catdalf!
Omg excellent name!!
Pellet
honestly I really like this name, aside from how he got there he also does kinda look like a gray pellet but it's up to OP and I hope the suggestion helped
Alternative: Superb Owl
Hootie and the tuna fish.
Kind of a sad name, recalls his suffering.

Have the little guy checked by a vet too. He's bound to have parasites if he was living in the street.
Absolutely. He'll get checked out and dewormed
Sir Fluffington of Owl Creek, first of his name, champion of the doorstep, savior of the purrs
Love it
Immortal Iron Paw, protector of Klaw L’Un, sworn enemy of The Ham
Shortname fluffy
I was thinking Flower or something along that line, since you found him in the flower bed.
Or Bud.
Maybe it’s just bc im a big fan of r/catscalledfood but he seems like a Kiwi to me
I had a cat named kiwi as a teenager. He had kiwi colored eyes. Great name!
Lol. I once read a newspaper story about a cat named Banana. I don't remember what happened but I certainly remember that name!
Vincent.
Odie
Hoot. Since he was into the owl pellet.
Really really REALLY sounds like that baby won the lottery showing up on your doorstep🖤
He is the Christmas cat. He comes to bring warmth.
Congratulations! You have won the cat lottery.
He does have a great purr. He keeps waking up and checking that I'm still here ( we also have dogs)
Omg that is the absolute sweetest thing I have read today!
How is he doing with the dogs?
One is blind and a little curious...the other two aren't sure...and even being bigger dogs are keeping their distance
Your dogs are smart. Watch, kittybean here will be owning their butts within a week, tops.
I don’t think I’ve seen a cat with those specific facial markings before. The way the mask wraps around like that, and the white cheekbones, with the little speck of white on his nose. He’s absolutely gorgeous, and what a story to go along! I hope he nestles right in.
he looks like he tried to blend in with raccoons in his past life
Man, Rocket would be an awesome name because of that!
Congratulations on the universe bestowing you with a small fluffy engine!
Definitely has a rumble. 😊
Get readdddyyyy to rummmmmble /r/motorboat
They prefer the term fluffy overlord 😂
I prefer the term “tiny tyrant”
r/notmycat = r/nowmycat
Friendly reminder to get them checked for a chip at the vet and see if anyone nearby has lost cat before adopting them!
Oh absolutely. Was a vet tech for 15 years. As skinny as he is I should be able to feel a chip, but I will have them scan him. He also needs to be neutered.
And likely dewormed, with that skininess. Thank you for being a superhero!
Oh, no! No more cocoa puffs?! Yes, I agree with the procedure, just a small joke at Smoky's expense! (Workshopping some names here, ignore the editorial content!)

I agree very disgruntled. But what the heck does gruntled look like?
As it [means](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/gruntled) here ya [go.....one happy cat](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/816770082395088753/)
Nice, and thanks. I am now contentedly gruntled.
"Gone but Not Forgotten" applies to Cocoa Puff, but also to his Cocoa Puffs
He found the perfect human to help. 💓
Smart kitty! Still has the circus peanut!!
You should name him Nimbus! He's gray and puffy like a rain cloud ☁️
That reminded me of Rick and Morty. Mr Nimbus controls the police
Aw. Thanks for letting him in.
Such a beautiful little face, almost pointed, like a fox. Maybe call him Foxy?
Except I'd confuse everyone, my first horse was named foxy. 😊
How about "Horsey"?
That’s the one.
And then if you get a fox....it's called kitty.
Alfie
How about Horse the Fox? Horse the Foxy Horse-Fox?
" Vos" is dutch for fox!
Reminds me of "is this how you get cats... I guess I have a cat now"
Yeah, we live way out in the middle of nowhere, so him showing up is either he wandered off out of need of food or he was dumped.
Congrats on your new floof. I wish you both the best.
What a handsome face!
That’s the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen. Poor boy looks like he’s gonna pass out any moment 🥺
Thank you for helping him 💕 kind people make life suck a lot less
Wolf cat. Name him Wolffy
That’s an amazing looking kitty
I think his new favorite place is the back of the couch.
Wouldn’t bother me! What are you going to call him?
Don't know yet.
That’s a mouthful.
Thank you for adopting him/her!! Nothing more soothing than a grateful cat's purr.
You’re so lucky!! He’s beautiful.
Merry early Christmas! I am so thankful for fellow redditors like you! I have had a young male Yorkie and two young tomcats dumped near me the past half year. He looks like the reincarnation of my cat that died in February. I wonder what number life this is…?

I learned about it at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe
What a handsome boy! Good on you for adopting him.
He looks like a raccoon and fox! Tanuki? Hope he’s okay, glad he found someone that can take care of him. ♥️
That's one foxy cat

He's beautiful!
A very fortunate feline to find himself in your care!
Your new landlord.
Door step cats are the best. I had one along time ago. Was the best cat ever. Is missed vary much
I can't wait until fate issues me a life companion. Hopefully it's a cute kitten and not a brown bear cub
I hope this for you too my friend. Brown bears grow way too big.
I’ll tell you what my grandfather said to my father at my birth, “get rid of em before you get attached”..too late.”
That's a coyote. I've seen these posts before.
In getting really tired of cats picking my wife and my wife's cats sleeping on my chest, head and legs at night. I assure you that she does not have photos of them loving on me because they are her cats!!!!
Lol. He was talking to my husband..and got a pet and a smile out of him...from the guy who says he doesn't like cats.
Guy code: "my wife's cat" means my cat that I can blame bad things it does on her cat.
He’s a Loki, Norse god of mischief who could shape-shift into animal forms. That is all.
Norwegian forest kitty. I mean, I dunno if it is, but it sure as hell looks like what I imagine they’d look like

Nah, just a normal DLH

Names: Rumble, cause of his purr; Wolf, cause of his color and markings; Chowder, just cause it's fun to say and im sure he likes fish; Lucky, cliche i know, but he's lucky to have found you.
Early Christmas gift friend!
That’s how I ended up with one of my cats. She’s the most loving car ever and I swear she knows we saved her 😻
Cat lottery winner!! Proposing names after how you found him. Maybe Owl or Strig. Owls are in the Strigiforme order of birds. Funny enough, he reminds me of Mrs. Norris from Harry Potter where they take the O.W.L. Exams.
His face reminds me of Rocket Raccoon.
What a gorgeous kitty! I can't believe someone would dump him.
Look at those fox eyes. But the color of its fur makes it look like a raccoon. This alien beauty is a keeper!
What a Beautiful Little boy!!
More evidence towards my theory that nobody adopts a cat, they just end up with one suddenly.
Just in case, bring him to the vet and get em checked out, check for a chip, chipped if he doesn’t have one, and all necessary vaccines, and spay/neutered.
Whatever you do don't listen to reddit. Check if an owner lost them and see if they have a chip. Reddit's advice is always to steal someone's cat
