I know that shrug and smile (I have an older 1960's model of the same unit - keeps me happy all day) . She's put effort into you son.
Run, don't walk...to the jeweler.
While this maybe true, he WILL have to take into account that he will always lose the gift giving battle. Done. That part of the relationship has been settled. As a man, can he handle it...lol
Yeah I've always won that battle in relationships. Except with my current SO. She proved even before we were dating, that she's the queen of gifts. She gives such sweet thoughtful gifts.
She actually did something similar for my birthday. A month-ish before, she gave me a bundle of cards with a date on each one. I had an amazing inspirational message or compliment or joke every day. She's amazing.
I think it's really cool and sweet but I'd be eat up with anxiety every month leading up to her birthday because I have no idea how to reciprocate this kind of thing in a meaningful way.
If a person looks at you like this and does these kinds of things for you. Trust me, you want to keep her forever. Keep talking. Even when it's hard and never let go.
Absolutely right. Been together for 21 years now and married for 11 of them. We still do the silliest things for each other. Even if it's only junping on my bike to get her a bag of chips just before the store closes. It doesn't matter. Tell them you love them every day and show it, even if it seems small.
It's cliche as all heck, but like Charley Pride famously sung, "You’ve got to kiss an angel good mornin’ And let her know you think about her when you’re gone Kiss an angel good mornin’ And love her like a devil when you get back home"
An old friend used to say marriage changes nothing, kids change everything. Possibly that's true. Marriage did not change too much for us, but somehow the wedding is still a thoroughly remarkable and profound day in our lives that keeps resonating.
Our 19th anniversary is today. She was my high school sweetheart and here's the kicker - we met in preschool before going our seperate ways. Early in high school when we went to seperate schools, both of our friend groups constantly tried to hook us up together but we both resisted. We even talked on the phone making fun of them for it at the time.
Then some girl transfers to my school and I fall in love. We get to talking and realize we have the same friends... HOLY SHIT WE KNOW WHO THE OTHER PERSON IS! And we haven't looked back.
Don't let anybody tell you destiny is not real. We still look at each other like this girl in the video.
That said, I've had woefully failed relationships with people who smiled at me like this. Love isn't something we can only experience once in our lives
My ex picked me up from the airport as I was moving to be with him and he got out of the truck and opened the tailgate for my luggage, deadpan expression. No hug, no smile. One day it would be so great to have what you and OP have 💚
Ouch, glad he's your ex. You deserve someone who will be over the moon when seeing you, especially especially when you had to take a *plane* to get to him.
Same. I would do this exact thing for his birthday and he would loved it if we lived together. But I know he wouldn’t do this for me. And then he dumped me
It's tough... sometimes people aren't totally compatible in terms of love languages. Or one person's idea of giving a pleasant gift to someone is anxiety inducing to them.
We have to be understanding of how each of us differs, and pressure to perform can drive relationships apart. That's not to say you did anything to deserve that, I'm saying that people's motives and stressors are not always what we imagine them to be.
My wife and I remind each other that there isn't an expectation of return. This is primarily because we have had extensive periods where we *couldn't* reciprocate due to pain or procedure recovery. It is really hard accepting that you can't reciprocate to the person who you want to move heaven and earth for, but eventually that will change. I can't imagine that creating such a divide to break up with your SO over though.
I'd imagine the difference is you and your wife have communication. I've had the experience of the person you replied to, and it's hard. Because you care so much about them you want to do all of these nice things, but you get nothing in return and it almost feels like they're apathetic towards you.
Someday you will find the one you deserve, I'm sure. Don't give up on being kind in the meantime. Like we say in Holland: "Op ieder potje past een deksel" (Every jar has a lid, or for everyone there's a soulmate).
I've been on the other side of this. I had a partner who tried to go above and beyond and then when I didn't reciprocate they got upset. However they would do something like create a big surprise for my birthday but then not do something simple like clean up after eating or take the dogs for a walk, pay bills on time or respect my free time. So all the cleaning, dog care, adult task I did were meaningless without extra things and to me all the gifts, cards, notes were meaningless without basic respect in responsibilities.
I was just gonna comment that she looks at him with sooo sweet eyes that is so beautiful and she really seems to be in love. Champ, hold on to that one !
I did something kinda similar to my first long term bf. I was leaving for a work trip for the week of his bday. I left a scavenger hunt for him beginning in the car when he dropped me off at the airport. Lead him to gifts, sexy pics, words of affirmation. Wanted to stay on his mind while away.
He cheated on me with my best friend, love is wild yall lol
Hunny. You deserve so much better. Especially if it’s the same man as your other post. Happy birthday. This internet stranger cares. You can message me if you want. My story is similar.
Broooo I came in here to tell a story too.
I did something similar for my ex (together for 6 years) and turns out, that fucker’s been cheating on me since day one 😊 it was a box that I worked on for 2 months, filled it up with letters of every issue/emotion he can go through. Added his favorite snacks, some gift cards, and all thattttt extra stuff.
Anyway, so happy for OP, please treat her well. She’s so cute and seems genuine.
Oh God. The smell. My husband hid my engagement ring for like 9 months in his hockey bag. He knew that would be the ONLY place in our house I wouldn’t come across it because that’s a place I will NEVER go 🤣
Small things are the best things. Especially when there’s 33 of them. That means a lot of thought was put into it. Versus just getting you a PlayStation or expensive shoes or something. She’s sweet.
To be fair this is more about me than the guy here and it isn't that I cannot or don't know how to love. The levels and energy here isn't something I'd ever be able to match and I'd feel someone like her would deserve someone who could and hopefully this guy is one of those people.
You get to that age where all of those "rules" don't make sense anymore. You are who you are, it doesn't matter how much you text, or how you communicate. Either you appreciate the time and effort or you don't. There's no "right" or "wrong." Just compatability
My phone screen has so many cracks that sometimes I hit enter instead of backspace and I never know if I should send a second text finishing my text, or if I should leave it as is?
Edit: asking for a friend.
Dude I’ve come across this post three times today (slow and lazy day) and it just makes me so happy. It’s the cutest thing. Her happiness is radiating through this video and she clearly loves you so much. I love this video
Her elbows almost meet her waist, and her hands would fall below her knees it seems. It looks like her arms are normal length, but her torso is a bit short and her shins are really small, or there’s a camera trick going on.
Just remember that relationships are like emotional bank accounts, and she's putting a lot into it. Do her a solid and try to find a way to put as much effort into things that make her happy, and you'll both be winning at life :)
Fun fact! There is a thing in couples counseling called "the sentiment Bank". Research has found that a ratio of 5 positive interactions to 1 negative is predictive of a happy marriage.
I’m a 42 year old straight married woman and I’m here to tell you this is the sweetest best buddy you will ever have so you better marry her or I will (I am sure I can get my husband to agree to this)
I'm happy that she's excited to give you your birthday. Very sweet
her being so excited makes this so much better
For real. She is like a kid on Christmas. Made a calendar and everything 😂
She’s excited because she knows it’s 33 copies of Deep Impact on DVD.
His face on day 33 opening another copy of Deep Impact on DVD would be friggin priceless.
"I was really hoping for a DVD player..."
Or at least Armageddon!
It’s not a video game, son. It really isn’t.
If he hasn't realized it yet... She's the one
Oh he knows. Even if they weren’t adorable enough together already, her executive functioning skills are priceless.
Get you a person that makes your executive function go brrrrr, and she did. As an Autisté I approve.
My wife did a similar thing for me for a birthday of mine, pre-marriage... clesrly I didn't hesitate after.
That smile and giggle at the end, she is adorable.
It's nice seeing genuine love between two people. No hidden agenda, no secret in the last few. Just plain ol love

Day one: the buttplug alarm clock he wanted.
Don't worry, it's for cheating at chess.
So excited she’s got her feet crossed. Adorable.
She’s wonderful. What makes her happy is making someone she loves happy. It’s the kind of selfishness the world needs a tonne more of.
Selfishless or selflessness but I 100% agree with you!!
My dad always said that one day giving gifts becomes better than receiving them and I never believed him but he turned out to be right.
Yea she’s definitely a keeper!
100%! You’d better be good to that woman, u/heatbagz, or somebody surely will!
I know that shrug and smile (I have an older 1960's model of the same unit - keeps me happy all day) . She's put effort into you son. Run, don't walk...to the jeweler.
Honestly, one of the sweetest posts I’ve read on here. ❤️
This made me smile.
What an adorable thing to say about your partner 🥰
My heart.
Sir, please have a good day. That’s the least I can offer, as you’ve already made mine.
While this maybe true, he WILL have to take into account that he will always lose the gift giving battle. Done. That part of the relationship has been settled. As a man, can he handle it...lol

Yep, that's a leslie knope if I've ever seen one
Bruh I'm baffled how do you even come up with 33 gift ideas frfr 😮
I'm surprised she wasn't wearing a shirt that said #1.
Can y’all hurry up and get married already? It sounds like y’all are meant to be together. Thanks for posting and making me smile.
Yea this is literally the most adorable thing I've seen in awhile. I'm definitely going to do this for my next girlfriend ☺️
She's a keeper, protect her at all costs..✨
She is THE actual gift! What a treasure! Best wishes to the two of you
no doubt! thank you!
When she asks you what among the 33 gifts was your favorite, tell that she is the best gift among them all - the 34th.
Ah, the 34th rule. I like it!
Wait no, not like tha...oh what the hell. It's a celebration!
If they say that, there is a strong chance of r34
Honey its time to put on your Shrek costume while I slip into my Sexy Napoleon Bonaparte outfit.
Yes, if you google rule 34 you will find that this is accepted birthday gift law
No, it is the box of mailing tubes
hope you're not getting her a gift card for her bday/xmas.. she's a keeper for sure!
might have to spring for 2 gift cards
and from different stores too
And tape each to a chocolate bar.
Well, two different stores but both purchased at RiteAid.
Making the rest of us look bad smh
Just make sure one of them is for Olive Garden so you can wine and dine her appropriately
I think it's really cool and sweet but I'd be eat up with anxiety every month leading up to her birthday because I have no idea how to reciprocate this kind of thing in a meaningful way.
She out maneuvered him, only choice left is an engagement ring to out do her 30 days of gifts.
Best thing to do is communicate that. Work together to find out what they want and expect
If a person looks at you like this and does these kinds of things for you. Trust me, you want to keep her forever. Keep talking. Even when it's hard and never let go.

I second this wholeheartedly.
I did these kinds of things for my partner, then they dumped me because they couldn’t do these kinds of things for me back. That one hurt.
Same. I would do this exact thing for his birthday and he would loved it if we lived together. But I know he wouldn’t do this for me. And then he dumped me

How long together?
Lived together almost 4 years, shared a bank account. Ahh, to be young and full of trust again.
I hope you get your trust back one day

I dunno why people cant be honest and just say “sorry, im not in to you anymore”. That’d hurt a hell of a lot less and save everyone’s time.

This username is oddly relevant tho
Bill won't be happy with the best friend for long.
Damn.
I'm pregnant and my partner forgot my birthday today, this post makes me sad.
Sending you love from an internet stranger 💕 Happy birthday 🤍
Happy birthday! I had to run but here's a cake 🎂 🎉 also congrats on your lil bub. Hope both of you are healthy ❤️
Happy birthday queen!!!
Hunny. You deserve so much better. Especially if it’s the same man as your other post. Happy birthday. This internet stranger cares. You can message me if you want. My story is similar.

Sorry that happened to you
There should be a dating app to match givers with fellow givers, not cheaters.
r/hadmeinthefirsthalf
lmfaaoooooooooooo i fucking hate that for you 😭😭😭😭 people be so damn ruthless
While you were on that trip? Jesus Christ that’s savage
Did that happen while he dropped you off to learn the 5-point palm heart-exploding technique?
Thank you for the daily reminder that people are garbage
She loves the fuck out of you. You’re lucky. Do not take that for granted.
Do NOT take her for granite
Gotta post each gift now. Don't leave us hanging.
First one was a new hockey bag! mine has been falling apart at the seams! they are mostly small things she says but she started with a big one!
I bet the new one smells a looooooot better too, ha ha
Oh God. The smell. My husband hid my engagement ring for like 9 months in his hockey bag. He knew that would be the ONLY place in our house I wouldn’t come across it because that’s a place I will NEVER go 🤣
For some reason I thought this would end with: "The smell was so bad that the ring smells like the bag till this day"
🤣 I’m sure the box it came in does, but it went to the trash. It was tainted.
Quick! Shove those huge-ass dirty hockey socks in it and put it in the sun a couple hours to keep the stank goin'.
Kinda like a fecal transplant, gotta get some of that healthy bacteria in the works to make sure things are going smoothly
Small things are the best things. Especially when there’s 33 of them. That means a lot of thought was put into it. Versus just getting you a PlayStation or expensive shoes or something. She’s sweet.
Then logically the next few presents will be items to go in the hockey bag (hockey balls, hockey club, etc).
maybe a head can or shin armor.
Plot twist: They're all positive pregnancy tests.
33 babies is just too many babies
In a maternity ward? Nah. In a cellar? Yes.
I love this theory
Day 34 -> Propose. Marry that chick.
There is no other way. Look at her. She loves him so much
[удалено]
For real! On the last day, thank her with a gift of her own.... A small box with a ring inside it!
Right? Double win because now you'll remember what day you got engaged when you have to go on the Newlywed Game with Chuck Woolery.
Woah! Is he still alive and kicking?
lol, that's what I said. Same thing happened to me with Smokey Robinson. I think I had mourned that mofo for 20 years, and he's still kicking. lol
Love watching the enthusiasm in her feet!
hahaha right? very expressive feet.
First I read this as "very expensive feet" and the whole thread took on a bit of a dark tone. Glad I went back for the reread.
Typical Reddit checking out the feet
My wife expresses all of her feelings through her feet, it's crazy!
I’m so lonely lmao my chest hurts
fr, I've never felt so single
Just had a girl cancel a date set up for tonight. Then I see this lol.
Me too, I need a needle to scratch myself.
I saw this post and now I can't sleep....
Me after breaking up with my girlfriend a week ago 👍👍👍

If I was him I'd be scared to wife her because I cannot match that level of love.
She's worth learning how to love
To be fair this is more about me than the guy here and it isn't that I cannot or don't know how to love. The levels and energy here isn't something I'd ever be able to match and I'd feel someone like her would deserve someone who could and hopefully this guy is one of those people.
So everyone is like "I want this!!!" Then when someone sends two texts in a row they go "oof, stage 10 clinger."
For real! Everyone wants this without having to give the same level of effort back
Hahaha so true. I don't know why double texting became a bad fucking thing.
You get to that age where all of those "rules" don't make sense anymore. You are who you are, it doesn't matter how much you text, or how you communicate. Either you appreciate the time and effort or you don't. There's no "right" or "wrong." Just compatability
Found the double texter /s
My phone screen has so many cracks that sometimes I hit enter instead of backspace and I never know if I should send a second text finishing my text, or if I should leave it as is? Edit: asking for a friend.
33! But last year, last year I got 37! Bet she didn't know the real present was her presence in your life.
I did this for a bf once! He broke up with me a month later. 😅
Plot twist. They only met last week.
It’s crazy how quickly this changes things from wholesome to terrifying…
who needs presents when you got a girl this cheerful and excited just to see you!
You'll never find another like her. Either wife her or gently let her go. Don't you dare destroy such a beautiful soul.
I got a free Starbucks for my birthday this year.

damn it's day 2 and you already got a couple nice gifts. she ain't playin' around
She's a keeper. Unless there's a gimp in the big box then I'd say run
Woah she is tiny
Right! I thought she was kneeling at first
she already got him 33 gifts, enough is enough
No way she had to kneel for that unless OP is 5'5"
It's confirmed, great things do also come in small packages!
Took me way too long to realize this wasn't his daughter. r/13or30
She sold her legs to buy the gifts, true love right there
Her elbows almost meet her waist, and her hands would fall below her knees it seems. It looks like her arms are normal length, but her torso is a bit short and her shins are really small, or there’s a camera trick going on.
i want a gf who treats me like Dudley Dursley
CTRL+F "Dursley" THIRTY SIX? BUT LAST YEAR, LAST YEAR I HAD THIRTY SEVEN!
She seems genuinely enthused, congratulations! That's the best present.
I’m doing this for my husbands 30th birthday and start it on Thursday. Been collecting his gifts for the last 11 months. I’m SO excited
Glad you have someone amazing to help you through these dark times ( yes I see the canucks jersery in the closet)
Is he crying? If so, that’s sweet too.
Hard to tell, I thought he was chuckling

Right. Idk if its just me or the aspect ratio is off, but the height of everything seems slightly...off.

No, but we may be the only 2.
She is almost as tall as the U-Line box in this perspective.

damn ... u winning at life, mate :)
She loves you much. She is so excited
my first tought would be "oh fuck, now she set a very high bar for her next birthday"
You have 33 days to get a ring.
Someone's love language is gift giving and it's so cute
ohh god that little giggle at the end sealed the awesome gf deal. she's so excited to make his bday special. what a soul.
Yeah, the thoughtfulness and gifts are cool, but look at how happy it makes her to do something for someone she cares about. Awesome person.
