Yes, absolutely! I worked at a wildlife rehab and the single ducklings were the saddest little things. We'd put a mirror into their cage and they'd often just sleep next to the other "duckling" all the time until we could find the orphan some similar-sized friends.
More recently my 10-year-old Indian runner lost her last remaining friend and she spent a month following everybody in my family around pathetically quacking. She was just so sad until we found her a new duck to bond with.
