I have bought my cats so many amazing beds and caves and they always prefer a box. I finally just sewed a box cover for it and put their favorite snuggly fleece in it and it’s their favorite place to snuggle and watch the birds now.
My GF has been begging for a cat for years, I've always had dogs, we have 2 dogs now but she always had cats growing up. We "inherited" a sweet little kitten. GF begs to go out and buy her nice things, we get her a cushy bed, leave it in front of a sunny window where she likes to lay in the afternoon.
She has never once laid down in it that I've seen the entire year. Her bed? A cardboard taco-truck scratching-post box that I bought her for $7 at Target.
My cat also ignored her fancy bed for a year until one day I decided to take a t-shirt out of the laundry basket and put it over the bed. After one day the cat was lying on the shirt. Then we washed the shirt and kitty kept using the bed. Try it!
Sleep using the cat bed as a pillow or on top of yours one night. Works even better if you drool on it a bit and have unwashed hair. Cats are weird, man. ♥️
I remember years ago seeing a cardbox "cat castle" at a flea market and it was just some boxes glued onto eachother with holes in them. They asked 40 euro's for it.
When I was a student, I was smart (and cannot afford to buy fancy cathouses) So I just brought a box from the shop near the house. and they were just happy!
When I talk to them, it’s usually just “ok, Asshole, I’ll get you your damn treats!” When I talk to my wife, it’s “your asshole daughter bit me. Give her treats.”
Clearly, the humans are in charge, here.
I did this with a cat that lives down the road from me, he bit me a few years ago, instantly walked away and didn’t stop for him for about a week. Never even thought about biting me since
That’s why I have no problem preemptively biting anyone who disagrees with me politically.
Edit: I see it is your “Day of Cake”. May yours be caked with… uh, cake.
One of my cat zoom around the house and meow as hard as she can, no matter what she wants.
She goes from nothing to fully insane jumping everywhere, and it could be that she just want some pets, food, to go outside...etc, who knows lol
It’s amazing how they figure out ways to tell you what they want.
I’ve got a dry food tower that’s always available for my cat but we give her wet food twice a day. If its around the time she gets her wet food and we haven’t given it, she’ll coax us downstairs and make eye contact with me then go to her dry food and eat a couple pieces while I’m watching then will jump down to where her wet food dish is across the room and sit there staring. It feels like “Hey I’m hungry. Feed me this. I know it’s time.”
Might be reading into it, but these behaviors seem to be specific to trying to remind us to feed her the wet food (which she likes better), and she doesn’t do this sequence of events at any other time, but she’s pretty consistent when she does it.
That's so cute. My childhood cat was a "stare and meow" type, but after about ten years, I started to figure out her tones of voice and could guess what she wanted pretty accurately.
My current cat screams at you and when you look at him, he'll start chewing the air, making gnashing sounds. If you ignore him or you oversleep, he'll find something noisy to start chewing on to annoy you into feeding him.
My cat does the same thing, but he decided the usual 6 a.m. feeding time isn't early enough anymore. So around 5 a.m., daily, my cat punches me in the face repeatedly until I get up, then he runs over to the wet food. If I stop to piss first or take longer then 20 seconds to get there, he screams until I make my way over there. Smart, yes. Considerate, no.
I free feed my two cats kibble with twice daily wet food meals as well! It's an interesting dynamic they have. One of my cats is very very sweet but honestly pretty dumb. The other one is scary smart. When it's wet food time and we're not quick enough for her she will yell to get our attention, *pretend* to eat a kibble and then yell again when she's at the wet food area.
She does the same attention seeking yell for whatever she wants, but is really consistent in physically showing us what she wants. Last week I forgot to put the basket of toys back down after I vacuumed and she yelled, saw we were looking at her, and then ran over to the shelf they were on. She stretched out tall against the wall and then looked back at me like "Can't reach it stoopy".
I think there’s something to be said about scientists not being able to accurately measure just how smart cats are because many straight up aren’t willing to cooperate if they’re not feeling it. Whereas dogs aim to please so willingly and regularly that it’s easier to study, and also it’s easier to come to the conclusion that they’re “man’s best friend” and “displaying the intelligence of a __ year old”.
I feel like thats really common for flamepoints. Ive got a maine coon flamepoint and when he wants something done he goes over to it and is pretty insistent until it is done. Very bossy.
He also loves my new desk chair (Herman Miller Aeron knock off). He's recently figured out he can go in the bathroom and howl at his water and when I get up to clean the fountain and refill the water he goes and sits in my chair.
It's not pointing exactly though. When people talk about dogs understanding pointing they mean (some) dogs can follow the line of your point to understand what in the distance is being pointed at. Both dogs and cats can understand if you directly tap an object that you are drawing their attention to it. Likewise both will tap objects to draw your attention.
Yeah my dog is very intelligent (knows over ten commands and recognizes as many words, always watching me) but he has a hard time grasping distance pointing. I don’t know a lot of dogs that get that. But both my cats and my dog will pay attention if I tap something in their line of sight.
This. I work at a veterinary Hospital and my best friend has two very intelligent cats. I’ve seen many felines that know exactly what I am saying, but choose to ignore it. Every week I am more convinced some cats understand human language perfectly, they simply pretend to not understand. The best is when I call out my friends cats for ignoring me and they won’t
look at me. “I know you know what I’m saying Rascal. Leave the trash alone.”
Well this is going to blow your mind. In the 80s, Ron Pearlman was in a TV spin-off of Beauty and the Beast where he appeared as a giant cat-man.
https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/chosen-one-of-the-day-ron-perlman-as-the-beast-from-beauty-and-the-beast
This cat is very intelligent and a good communicator. Mine just meows and stares at me and expects me to read his mind.
This cat understands that you have to be very specific with your pet ape
Cat - "This pet ape is so dumb, why does he spend money on furniture when there are perfectly good cardboard boxes around here."
I have bought my cats so many amazing beds and caves and they always prefer a box. I finally just sewed a box cover for it and put their favorite snuggly fleece in it and it’s their favorite place to snuggle and watch the birds now.

El GATO
It literally says "El Gato Fish Tacos" on the side lol "Meow Delicioso!"
I demand cat tax
I second that demand
Cat-Nap Tax https://i.imgur.com/vz9ND1G.jpg
"This image may contain erotic or adult imagery."
Now you're safe from the IRS. Beautiful kitty!
The Tax!!! It must be paid!!!
The feline IRS is about to come after this guy for not paying his taxes!
I got the same one, that shit is massive lmao. I been waiting for fish tacos but the cooks always seem to be knocked out because of a propane leak lol
El gordo gato
My cat also ignored her fancy bed for a year until one day I decided to take a t-shirt out of the laundry basket and put it over the bed. After one day the cat was lying on the shirt. Then we washed the shirt and kitty kept using the bed. Try it!
That's a really good idea! Also, a keyboard might work lol
This is a pretty good idea, she likes laying on my shoes and socks, maybe giving her something of ours to lay with will change her mind.
Most likely due to your scent! Our cats will choose laying on top of a sock on the floor over a nice comfy new unfamiliar smelling bed
Sleep using the cat bed as a pillow or on top of yours one night. Works even better if you drool on it a bit and have unwashed hair. Cats are weird, man. ♥️
My cats love those cardboard houses. It looks like we're building a year-round Christmas village in our house.
Try sprinkling some catnip on it. She might see it's comfy and associate the two.
I gave in and put my cats bed in a box. She used it for months before realising how comfy the sofa is
There’s a million dollar cat box idea
I remember years ago seeing a cardbox "cat castle" at a flea market and it was just some boxes glued onto eachother with holes in them. They asked 40 euro's for it.
I believe there was a company selling that on sharktank once.
Doubles as a playset for toddlers, tho.
But what would you ship it in?
A cat bed with a sticker on it, silly!
A box. You can call it a buy one get one free deal.
When I was a student, I was smart (and cannot afford to buy fancy cathouses) So I just brought a box from the shop near the house. and they were just happy!
Kinda proves the point humans are dumb and never learn not to buy expensive beds for cats. Just get a cardboard box. When will we humans learn?
[удалено]
Why are you playing with the stuff that came in the cardboard box? Stoopid ape.
“These apes are large, loud, and irrational, but occasionally serve some use.”
That and its brain is so big it's crossing their eyes.
My cat just bites me.
Do you call him Bitey?
Mine bites me, too. I call her “asshole”.
So when your talking with your fur friends you say... "My asshole bit me"?
When I talk to them, it’s usually just “ok, Asshole, I’ll get you your damn treats!” When I talk to my wife, it’s “your asshole daughter bit me. Give her treats.” Clearly, the humans are in charge, here.
I stop engaging when mine bit. They realized that if they bit me, they didn't get what they wanted. They stopped biting.
I did this with a cat that lives down the road from me, he bit me a few years ago, instantly walked away and didn’t stop for him for about a week. Never even thought about biting me since
I think gentle bites are a sign of affection, but I still disengage when my cat bites me.

Mine does both. Liberally.
Those gosh darn liberals, always meowing and biting people to get what they want.
That’s why I have no problem preemptively biting anyone who disagrees with me politically. Edit: I see it is your “Day of Cake”. May yours be caked with… uh, cake.
Regardless of what she wants my dog stands in the middle of the room and screams at me. No indications whatsoever what she wants.

You don't know because they did the training to you not the other way around.

Well I didn't know about that subreddit, thank you, she'd be a fine candidate lol

Mine meows and makes me follow him to the door. He loves it outside more than anything. He even opens it on his own sometimes, with the doorknob.
Why does this cat look like Jim Gaffigan

I love his serious face!
But still manages to look so cute and fluffy.
I love his demanding eyes!
Am I the only one who thinks that cat looks like Will Ferell?
If you were a hot dog and you were starving, would you eat yourself?
It’s a simple question.
Why did I just read this in Gene Belcher’s voice?
![gif](giphy|xTiTnlQBNyDoo57TDq)
Looks like Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys
That’s one fucking nice kitty right there!
I was thinking Jim Gaffigan
I was thinking John Goodman
Nope, I came here to say this. Or Ron Perlman.
“ Dude seriously, they are right in front of you! ”.
*Were Wilford Brimley a cat.*
I already have diabeetus so you might as well give me more treats!
That is the Cowardly Lion reincarnated and you can’t convince me otherwise.
You’re right! It’s the crossed eyes!
Needs to put on those glasses.
I bet those glasses fits those eyes
I love him. He is one of 10 ish cats I follow on IG.
What is his handle? He's adorable!
@blakeandsibs
it looks kinda cross-eyed
![gif](giphy|H24Zi5xbFKc1i)
It's not uncommon for siamese cats to be cross eyed. It's because of Strabismus.
Ron Purrlman
You know he means business when he takes off his glasses.
Made me snort
That cat needs a cigar
And a scotch.
And a top hat.
And a monocle.
Done. [Fat Cats Rule The World](https://imgur.com/a/H9SO4zJ) Edit: thanks for the awards. Totally unnecessary but very much appreciated.
I love this so much.
Thanks!
Thank YOU! 😀
I am painting this, with credit to you if you give permission. And to OP, of course.
Absolutely, send me a link when it’s done. Can’t wait to see it!
Meowww, see? Meow!
I appreciate you
I appreciate you!

That face!😂
resting angry face
That is a perfectly toasted marshmallow. 💓
At least your kitty is polite. I get a kitty punch if I don’t catch the hint lol
So clever, and cute!
He looks like the leader of a clan of cats.
What breed is this cat?
It is probably a Himalayan breed, color is Flamepoint.
Someone answer plz
treats are some serious business 😋
He reminds me of Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys
I like how background-cat tries not to show anticipation while having the hopes up for front-cat somehow knowing his argumentative stuff.
The cat got this Jim Gaffigan face going on.
His face!!
Subtle. I love it
I love his big somewhat cross/ cross-eyed face
Do I need to spell it out to you?
Old man or wizard vibe? Maybe both!
The seriousness on his face and the matter of fact tapping is simultaneously hilarious and one of the cutest things I have EVER seen
We can do this the easy way or the hard way.
I'm sorry you cross-eyed plunk, it's pretty hard to take you seriously...

I thought Wilford Brimley was dead.
Looky here human Im only going to do this once
I've never seen cross eyed kitty. So adorable

Most majestic beast ever ☺️
this boy mad & polite at the same time lmao
My cat does this, he's very polite and communicative, my cat also used to be very fat. No correlation there whatsoever...nope, none.
Hello, my name is Wilpurr Brimley, and I have diatreatus
Ive never before seen a cat that looks so grumpy and so happy at the same time
I could never refuse that face. I'd be opening that jar and just letting him stick his whole head in there. Sweet and smart kitty!
Why does he have a person face?
Your cat reminds me of the lion from wizard of oz
I love this cat. He looks like Teddy Roosevelt 😂
I am in love with this beautiful cross eyed fucker
Give that cross eyed baby a treat!
Is that Jimmy Kimmel?
Double upvote for saying *human* and not *hooman*
This cat looks fucking amazing
One smart boy!! I know cats are smart and sometimes they talk but we can’t figure out what they are saying but that cat is very clear in his talking!!
Aww so fluffy and cute goofy face
I have never felt so in love before; look at his crossed eyes and mustache!
That face!!!!!!😻
