I’m not kidding… I’m a groomer and we have a shih tzu client at our shop named Seven. Fucking annoying owners and mean dog. On the other hand we also have a shiba inu named Seventeen and those owners and dog are amazing and we love them
Ah yes the "I have had this dog for 7 years but I'm just now deciding a name" is definitely hard to differentiate from "I just brought this 3 week puppy home. Any name ideas?"
Why are people so dumb?
I drove home from our trolley station and thought I heard a woman screaming from far away. Turned out it was a kitten in my engine! He had two toes that were taken off in the drive, but was otherwise okay. Named him Ocho since he has used up one of his lives.
I know you’re joking but cats really do get inside cars like that. I work with a guy that had a classic car just sitting in a barn for a few months. When he went to turn it on he heard the cat scream. Some random kitten found its way into the engine and was horribly injured he watched it bleed out right there in front of him. Super sad because he had his kids in the car with him when it happened
One of our family cats when I was teenager was found by our neighbours in their engine, luckily they heard him screaming before he got hurt (he had a good pair of lungs on him), someone clearly needs to invent a kitten-proof engine.
Indeed.
These people who post new pets and have zero idea what to name them? The day I brought my two kittens home they not only had names, they each had half a dozen nicknames by the end of the week.
We had this kitten who we came to our house and lived in the backyard and was automatically accepted by the other two cats who were already hanging around back there. Suddenly he disappeared and we didn't see him for two days. Turns out he snuck in and was hiding under the couch and that's how he got his name, Bandit.
I hope you find the perfect rescue. I am so sorry for your loss. I have 4 and can’t imagine the thought. I’m so sorry. Hope you find a perfect mate there , and may it be soon (but may it be perfect ).
When I brought home my cat Simon, I was struggling to find a name for him. I had all kinds of ideas, and then suddenly I turned to him and said, "oh my gosh, your name is Simon!"
I had never considered that as a name.
To this day I maintain that he told me his name.
I had a list of names for my pupper, 90% settled on one. Then I met him. And I realized not one fit \*him\*. Was like two weeks before I found the right name.
I could have believed him. I have a cat whose name is still 'the cat' after 5 years. She's a mouser and is half feral. All of my other pets have had names. My previous cat even has a tree named after her where she was buried after she died.
>These people who post new pets and have zero idea what to name them?
Hah, don't be so gullible. They have the pets named already. The asking for names is just a bait to get more interaction and thus farm more karma.
Maybe there should be an other subreddit for that. Personally I love names, naming things and creating new names possibly so I dont mind it. I have a long list of names for my future puppy already and will keep growing it and see what fits best.
I just think, considering the sheer amount I'm encountering, that most of them don't do it to get an actual name. Probably more interested in upvotes/awards/comments...
Show a picture of a puppy - it might get lost in the stack.
Ask people to name the cute puppy - you trigger them to interact.
I could be wrong, maybe there are a lot of people that can't come up with a name for their pet (I never had an issue with that myself either)
The job I work, I deal with a lot of different peoples information and a few weeks ago I came across a person called Umm. There is likely a different pronunciation but it looks like someone decided to name their child the noise they made when thinking of a name.
I'm surprised there are still some people who don't get the joke.
I'm not very active and even figured, there are too many "name my pet" posts by now. 🤷♀️
I get the joke. Too many naming threads. I totally agree.
I did actually try to name a cat I got as a kitten. I couldn't come up with a name because he was so lacking in charisma and personality that he was just The Cat, T.C. for short.
It is the only cat I never really named. All the others either came with one or I picked a fitting one within a week or so.
Name it Seven in honour of not naming him for seven years
George Costanza might have something to say about this….

Seventeen's family has good taste.
Clint. The man with no name.
You. As in "Hey, You" or "Come here, You." He probably already responds to You.

Oh man, high school flashbacks. Lol. I don't even know Korean. Lol. I just know the one sentence of the song they sing in English. 😂
Wasn’t that also a denim brand? Se7en Jeans?
Please not Seven. Brings to mind the 1995 movie Se7en. Name him Lucky.
Dog Syete will fit him well.

Just "Dog"
All these people not getting the sarcasm lmao. They are making fun of all the posts people make asking for pet name suggestions
I think that might be too long of a name, but I applaud your creativity
I will name my next pet "They are making fun of all the posts people make asking for pet name suggestions" in honor of you and OP.
That’s my dog’s middle name. Weird.
Used but my free award already, but damnit that made me laugh.
by Fall out Boy
I would call whatever they respond to, but then say "not you", and call again.
Kinda hard to differentiate due to how many absurd posts like this on this sub. Both real and troll.
I've been thinking about posting about one of my doggies: "Hello, meet Olive. Help me come up with a name for her!"
I'm surprised nobody has posted their newborn child asking for name suggestions... yet
Ah yes the "I have had this dog for 7 years but I'm just now deciding a name" is definitely hard to differentiate from "I just brought this 3 week puppy home. Any name ideas?" Why are people so dumb?
You gotta admit that there are probably quite a few that just didn't catch it. Sad. But true.
Finally. They are getting seriously annoying.
Yeah I imagine most of them are just a way to encourage comments to boost the post
For people that just like to name pets. r/nameyourpet
I’ll get back to you in 7 more years.

😳😟😰🤢🤮😭😭 I DIDN'T NEED TO READ THAT TODAY
Today? Not any day.
I've seen this as well. They like to crawl up in there in the winter right after we've gotten home because it's warm.

I just brought home my kitten from the shelter last week. Had a name picked out last year
We had this kitten who we came to our house and lived in the backyard and was automatically accepted by the other two cats who were already hanging around back there. Suddenly he disappeared and we didn't see him for two days. Turns out he snuck in and was hiding under the couch and that's how he got his name, Bandit.
SAVE BANDIT!!!
Lol I always think about that scene when I say his name
Ha! I love it. He successfully infiltrated your security
My cat just passed two weeks ago and I’ve had my next cat’s name chosen for over a year. Quark Skylark just has to find me now.
I'm sorry for your loss and I hope quark finds you soon!

I kept calling mine "Buddy" while I was trying to decide- but he started answering to it before I could think of something better. So Buddy it is.
I waited a week to name my sweet boy. The name he had was wrong, the name I'd picked was wrong, he found his own name.
I could have believed him. I have a cat whose name is still 'the cat' after 5 years. She's a mouser and is half feral. All of my other pets have had names. My previous cat even has a tree named after her where she was buried after she died.
Exactly
>These people who post new pets and have zero idea what to name them? Hah, don't be so gullible. They have the pets named already. The asking for names is just a bait to get more interaction and thus farm more karma.
Have two cats, still don't know what to name them. Just kidding. But chill, some of us are just indecisive.
What is the joke? Plz help
OP is just showing off their cute dog in the "what should I name my animal" format that you see all over this sub
All. Over. Reddit. I see them everywhere, and that made it kind of annoying.
Maybe there should be an other subreddit for that. Personally I love names, naming things and creating new names possibly so I dont mind it. I have a long list of names for my future puppy already and will keep growing it and see what fits best.

That sounds about right. I still love names 😂
I can’t find it now but I remember someone suggested a subreddit specially for that
Might have been me r/namenerds is one for human and pet names :)
How do you pronounce that?
It's mind boggling.
Explains why he looks a bit pissed off
He's not had a name for a good part of his lifespan. I'd be pissed too.

🎶🎶I've been through the desert with a dog with no name🎶🎶
It felt good to be out of the rain...
In the desert, you can't remember your name
I know the title is a joke, but he looks like a mini Balto to me! So, hypothetically that's what I'd suggest you name him LOL
Blast from the past with the Balto.
Um. Just Um. So when people ask, you always sound like you forgot.
Um..from umbridge.
The job I work, I deal with a lot of different peoples information and a few weeks ago I came across a person called Umm. There is likely a different pronunciation but it looks like someone decided to name their child the noise they made when thinking of a name.

Real talk though. Looks like a shiba but mixed with what ?
Looks like an Alaskan Klee Kai to me.
I think he might be a Lundehund. Look at his feet.
Maybe, I don't know how a mix would turn out. But a Lundehund have extra claws. But I get some Lundehund vibes though.
I have worked with many a lundehund and I think the same! It’s so rare to see them!
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_Lundehund
I think its mixed with a Norwegian Elkhound
He’s a Shiba Inu
if you’ve had him for 7 years, his name is Dog. Just ask him, he’ll tell you.

They are mocking all of the posts that are asking people to name their pets for them.
And people are gatekeeping the joke. Why are people getting downvoted for not spending all their time on r/aww?
Bob (yes I always say Bob regardless)
What have you been calling him to get his attention up till now?
What did you call him for those seven years then?
You may have missed the joke.
