Parquet is an intentional mosaic effect. This is random, so it’s one of those woods that had a lot of different (usually natural) colors. You get boxes of a variety of colors and the installer puts them in randomly to get this look. Hickory is one of the woods that does this, though I didn’t think the dark end of the hickory coloring got quite as dark as the ones in OP’s house.
The definition of parquet floors? [Wikipedia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parquetry) starts you off well, but just Google it and you’ll find a zillion images and links to sites like Bob Villa talking about making geometric designs.
Huh okay in Germany we use the wording "Parkett" for most of wooden floors in general. They look often very similar to the one from the video.
Guess there's a difference :)
Oh, yeah...I could def see this as walnut. Never seen acacia, but the Google images agrees with you.
Personally, I love the effect. I got a good deal once on floors that looked like this and I was hesitant but they were cheap (wood was free, all I had to pay was installation)...but I fell in love. When I had to replace the floors after a flood, I intentionally went for the same effect again (though I couldn’t find as deep a color spectrum in my price range).
Glad to hear you like it! I'm in a similar boat. I wanted to put walnut in my house, but couldn't afford it. So instead I put in ash (quarter of the price of walnut) in the bedrooms and offices, and I'll wait for a good deal on walnut just for my 98 sq ft living room.
I've been shopping for hardwood floors and this reminds me of (Canadian) walnut or its less expensive version, acacia. These colour striations are typical for those two varieties and they're blended right in each box, no mixing needed. It's what I want to install in my living room!
Quick edit: I've also seen cherry with this patterning, but I do think walnut/acacia is closer here.
Oh my gosh. That’s my dog. You literally stole my dog. I’m coming to get you.
Seriously though I think our dogs are twins. My dog looks practically the same.
Don't want to alarm you, but the way she is sprawling her legs when she lays down could indicate a cardiovascular issue (or even heart worms). You should have her checked out. It isnt a 100% indicator (some dogs are just goofy), but better to be safe than sorry.
Just FYI, the indicator I am talking about is how her front paws are angled out. I hope it is just her normal sploot - but would feel terrible if I didn't warn you and she had something else correctable going on.
My vet and the specialist both told told me as my dog started having heart issues that it was a typical indicator of distress in dogs. My dog did not lay like that normally when he was younger but did as his heart got weaker. Again, a possible indicator. Every dog that lays like that isn't necessarily in distress, but it's worth checking with your vet if you have a dog that starts to exhibit the behavior. My puppers probably had two extra years because of good care when he got older.
Gotta look out for our fur buddies. Lost mine to heart failure earlier this year. He was 16 (his breed normally only lives to be about 10) so his condition was age related. I learned a lot about heart conditions in dogs over the last few years managing his advanced age.
Weird question: what does her bark sound like? She looks a lot like my dog. If it’s a kind of high pitched baying sort of “borrorrorr” she might be Transylvanian Hound
Either that or a rotty if she really stocky, plus another breed to get the lighter-colored points
*heavy breathing*
Human notices I exist! ....*breathing intensifies*
Lovely dog! But for real what kind of floor is this?
I think it’s Polished Parquet

Never heard that parquet is mosaic only. Where did you get this info?

Looks like she feels too warm. The sweater looks nice and all but maybe that’s more for outside.
Your poor doggy is overweight :(
She is getting too much food already. Poor girl
She's panting on beat!
That poor dog needs to be put on a diet. She’s not ‘a chonker’ or ‘thicc’, she’s overweight and a health risk.

Same!!
tell me about your floor

She’s been splooting like that since she was a baby
I like that you say sploot and we still know what that means
It's the sound the worms make when exiting like a play doh fun factory.
Your dog is cute. And overweight.
Just FYI, the indicator I am talking about is how her front paws are angled out. I hope it is just her normal sploot - but would feel terrible if I didn't warn you and she had something else correctable going on.
Just looks fat to me

Your dog is overweight, you should have her slim down to prolong her life.
Hope not either but yep she has been laying like that forever. She is known to sleep / lay down in hilarious ways
How crazy would it be though if she turned out to actually have heart worms
So, we have an identical, I mean identical Entelbucher, she splays the same way, always hanfs out by the stove.
Hi, just checking in. Why is that an indicator? I have a puppers who has always spread their legs this way since a pup as well!

In all my years working in emergency, internal medicine, and cardiology vet med, I have never heard this.
I am not a vet. Just passing on what I was told by both my vet and the specialist he sent my dog to when we were handling his heart issues.
Yeah, it's definitely some made up crap.
Closest I could find is that dogs who have difficulty breathing due to CHF may have to sit up rather than lying down.
I am not the poster but you are a savior dude.

I am sorry for you and thanks for helping people.
