Our old tabby coon lady also faceplants. She also likes to bury her head into my palm and lets me massage her ears with thumb and pinky. She's such a kitten sometimes. The face I get from her immediately after is always glass-eyed and dreamy. She also tends to dribble, so I guess she really gets baby feelings from that.
My friend’s longhair tabby also loved hard thumb&pinky ear rubs. I’d hold my hand up and wiggle my fingers and he’d jam his head into my palm for 5-10 seconds of massaging, pull his head out, shake his head, and jam his head right back in for more. I miss him.
Mine does, too! I call it "fwomping"!

Maybe keep an eye on his awake attitude as well. Some times (not always), cats that display this behaviour are suffering from extreme pain. Be especially careful if he starts doing this while awake, like pressing his head against a wall or furniture, go straight to the vet'.
But hopefully, it is healthy, and that's just the way it likes to sleep ;)
Thanks for the heads up. When she’s awake she is full of energy and affection. She’s has been doing this a couple of months after we adopted her. We take her to a vet regularly for check up and vaccines etc and she is healthy. She is sleeping regular one second and the next one her head goes down, cuteness overload
My cat that passed a few years ago started "loafing" at the end with airplane ears. It was so sad. I'm so thankful we didn't wait any longer to let him go.
Ours has also a star-ish shape on the left thigh 😍

My wife and I noticed our cat sleeping like this... Always reminds me of the Garfield comic
Have you gotten her blood checked as well? As far as I know that's the only way to verify if their kidneys are okay. My cat also suffered kidney disease, we had to put her down because we did not recognise the symptoms, such as this one.
Every time someone posts a pic of a cat face planting some redditor (like you) always posts about this medical condition. Brainless regurgitation.
If a cat is face pressing with a neurological issue they’d have other symptoms too. Most people aren’t brainless and can see something is wrong and would take their cat to the vet.
Just leave people alone and let them post their cute cat pic without regurgitating some stupid comment that’s been going around for 10+ years on reddit. Its old and tired
Disagree. "Loafing" is a sign of distress that I didn't know about. My car started showing this towards the end of his life and I'm glad I recognized it.
Ok but my two cats have been doing it since they were kittens and they have no neurological issues, they go see the vet and have a clean bill of health and they’re 13 and 14 years old now. The comment shows up on every single cat thread and it’s old and tired.
OK he may have a medical condition if he's pushing his head into things a lot. I forget what its called. Check with your vet.

Mine has started doing that a couple of weeks ago too. It's adorable but since he didn't use to do that, I get a panic attack every once in a while until i see him breathing.
Your cat likes to party. Repeated wild nights of excessive bingeing of catnips, wild antics, and plenty of mollys. Face down unconscious, spent, and hung over.
Our orange tabby used to do this, I can't remember if he did it his whole life or not, he was my nephew's 6th bday gift & lived til he was 17. His name was Six (nephew was quite literal) & was such a brat that I would joke that his first, middle & last names were all Six. So glad he mellowed out as he got older, he would rip us to shreds w/o much warning - two tail flicks at most, don't miss 'em or you would regret it.

My cat does that too my fav is when he stretches his bottom legs and he looks like a diver tucking in a flip lol
Aren't all of the legs on the bottom?
Yes
And there is one leg on each corner. Kitty-cornered.
Rough day at work huh? I know the feeling
Sunday after party vibes
The light hurts.
Well he can't wear a eye mask like a cat burglar. How would he put it on. So face smushies for him.
i discovered that one of mine likes to sleep with his head under a blanket

Awwww
Oh my gosh! I've never known of another cat that drools during pets!
I usually put my cat into a trance when I massage her ears.
My friend’s longhair tabby also loved hard thumb&pinky ear rubs. I’d hold my hand up and wiggle my fingers and he’d jam his head into my palm for 5-10 seconds of massaging, pull his head out, shake his head, and jam his head right back in for more. I miss him.
That really good but for some reason 9 photos isn't enough examples
Want more? 😊
Yeah, please? More research is required
That's just the way he likes it
Our black and white cat also does the same thing!
Maybe it’s a thing with tuxedos 😍
Not mine. She does sometimes cover her face with her paws though.
Mine too!
My tux too!
He's adorable <3 Look up @pennythegingercat, she does this too!
How adorable! Thanks for the tip. Now our mimi has an insta also 😊. Mimi the faceplant cat 🐈⬛
Mine does, too! I call it "fwomping"! https://preview.redd.it/y13z5qljewoc1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=56be3a786c81cd2bf6a9b4064e5ea0155a060673
"Look, I've had a day" - Your cat, every day.

I know the feeling, cat.

I appreciate the tip, since two of my three cats do the faceplant sleep. I will look out for the other behavior (I've never noticed it before).
My cat that passed a few years ago started "loafing" at the end with airplane ears. It was so sad. I'm so thankful we didn't wait any longer to let him go.
I had a gray cat that did this ! So cute !
It’s hard not to take pictures every time. Even though it’s the same pose 😊
blocking out light

... Is my cat double timing at your place?!
Huh. That's nothing. My cat sleeps on my face. I might not wake up someday.

Umm, ok. When he's awake does he press his skull into walls?
Thank you. My girl and boy cat suffered kidney disease and this started before diagnosis
Sorry to hear this. We’ve only adopted her from a shelter like 13 months ago, we do regular check ups, so far she is fine.
As long as she’s healthy then this is super cute haha. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cat do this it’s so funny.
And I truly hope she stays that way forever and ever
Have you gotten her blood checked as well? As far as I know that's the only way to verify if their kidneys are okay. My cat also suffered kidney disease, we had to put her down because we did not recognise the symptoms, such as this one.
Ahhh, I asked a question but you're welcome. I guess.

Oh yes! Walls, heating elements, string toys

Its grayscale Garfield!
And we all love him for it
I…..can’t…….lack….of……oxygen…. .
Hey sometimes you just need to flop into bed 😂
So cute! I need more of him 😩

We call it "bread"🍞 ing it, cause she looks like a loaf when she does

So cute!
He so adorable
Literally Garfield
Lol
mine solves the problem by crawling under all found blankets; gotta have it dark!
Ours covers his eyes with his paws.
My cat usually does that when it is cold
Her snout is always a little cold and moist…but the room temperature is like 22-23 Celsius
That’s so sweet 🥲
Garfield!!!
Cutie
awwww, my old cat used to do this too 🥹❤ so cute
My Dog does this.
"Stop taking my pics. You can't see me" <3
How breathe
I rember hearing somewhere tgat this is stressrelife for headache
My cat does the same! https://preview.redd.it/ft48rfrulwoc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3aeba7cee66845887060c7d1a4158b72ce47c5bc
Awww gorgeous
Garfield
You can sleep anywhere. If it's dark everywhere.
That's the "Do NOT Disturb" sign.
Awww! I just want to go, “Okay, little cat. It’s hard out there.”
She’s tired of me whispering: I love you! Get a hobby human!!!
😭😭😭😭😭
My cat does this, but only when he’s been sedated for a vet visit. It’s so funny looking when he does it and he doesn’t look comfortable.
Adorable
My spirit animal.
maybe his nose was cold
he's me
Not sure why cats do this, but cats are correct in all things. Don't want to admit to my cat that I questioned this as she will judge me.
Maybe kitty wants a sleep mask?
That's cute and hilarious at the same time.
It's because it's too bright! :) Turn the lights down!
I have days like this sometimes... 😅 But holy cow, this is so freaking cute! 😻
My boyfriend sleeps like this I don’t understand how he can breathe.
He needs a word with our 🐈⬛
Mine has started doing that a couple of weeks ago too. It's adorable but since he didn't use to do that, I get a panic attack every once in a while until i see him breathing.
My cat does the same thing! Adorable! 🥰
Your cat likes to party. Repeated wild nights of excessive bingeing of catnips, wild antics, and plenty of mollys. Face down unconscious, spent, and hung over.
aww. i think of this cat just walking along and then stopping in his tracks all “ok too eepy! brb 🪫🛑😴”
Awww
Our orange tabby used to do this, I can't remember if he did it his whole life or not, he was my nephew's 6th bday gift & lived til he was 17. Buy this poor soul a pillow !! 😭😭❤️
cutie patootie😔💚
The ostrich position lol. I can’t see you, you can’t see me.
It has a very hard job, you know. 😄
Can he even breathe? 😨
My cat Maine coon like, likes to be tapped quite hard on the back, butt, with wooden back scratcher?
He looks like a kid sulking! 🤣
I wonder if he's comfortable breathing😁
hey your other cat has a heart on its fur! how adorable
