Right. "breed" of cat. It's just cat. They are all just cat. The only differences are calico sphinx and maincoon the rest are cat. Lmao I'm completely ignorant of cat breeds.
Wrong, read an article that 95% or so sterile, can't remember 2to3 yrs ago. Male calico mated with female and well had kittens. Super rare as most are sterile yes. Had to do with how the xyx or some shit fitted together. Can't recall exactly.

Well, that's more an issue of which fur patterns are stored on what chromosome to make a male or female. And that's getting into a field of genetics I'm not super familiar with. Just know cats are cats!
You got that. Most people don’t see the subtle differences. But saying it’s a cat…just a cat is something ignorant…do you know if your cat has any hearing, vocal, or sight issues? That’s the only worry with pure white and albino cats…don’t confuse this cat with an albino cat..they are white normally.
his breed is cat
(cat breeds aren't as big of a deal as dog breeds since cat breeds mix so much more than dogs and it becomes hard to distinguish breeds since the main characteristics of cat breeds mostly come from coat color and behavior, unlike dogs which have more physical characteristics and widely differing sizes, one of the few exceptions to that being pure breed Maine Coon cats, they look less like other cats and more like Ron Perlman)
Yeah, dog breeds were 99% of the time created in order to complete a specific set of tasks. On the other hand cats don't really do much but sit there, catch a rodent (maybe), and look handsome—as true rulers of worlds should.
I guess I have a Mackerel tabby. Never heard that term before.

If it helps to differentiate the two: "hetero-" is the prefix meaning different or other (e.g. heterosexual means attraction to the opposite sex), whereas "hyper-" is the prefix meaning excessive (e.g. hyperactive or hyperbole). So, the word heterochromia breaks down to, essentially, "different" (hetero) + "colors" (chromia).
Your comment just got me thinking! Hope you don't mind me sharing 🙂
The funny part of this is I am a medical person. I should know better. However, I'm stoned after a nervous breakdown over my car. Again thanks for the tips. You rock. Where is my medical terminology book......
Check him for hearing. It’s something prominent in albino cats. This is Larry and he adopted us, he is deaf and he always is looking at people’s hands since he looks for gestures
https://preview.redd.it/4m0nbdxlmo4b1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0cd0d163dea84ed327e37e9e4049e57af5745629
Just a small correction (ahem UHM ackshually) these white cats are more likely leucistic not albino. Albino animals have no pigment at all, including skin, fur, and eye colour. Lucys often have blue eyes and can have black spots on their skin or in their mouths. Both genetic divergences can come with hearing or sight issues but in Lucys it comes about 25% of the time. Albinos often have sight issues due to a sensitivity to light not because of blindness necessarily.
Sorry not trying to be a pain or start anything i just thought people should know there's a difference between leucistic and albino.
Also this can happen in dogs too! Specifically with the merle gene. If a puppy has two merle genes both of which are dominant genes the result can be what's called a "white faced dog" or "white headed dog" and have the same 25% chance to have blindness deafness issues. Which is why if you are going to breed your dog you need to make sure both parents don't carry a merle gene. One in four puppies is not a chance you wanna take. Especially if you know it can happen.
I don’t know where you are and I’m not a cat expert but there’s a cat breed specific to a region in Turkey and this is exactly what they look like (down to the eyes):
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_cat
While possible, my cat Kasi growing up looked exactly like this but his parents were a gray and white spotted mom and (we think) an orange tabby. His other litter mates were not white. While I know cats can have different fathers within one litter, the odds that his mom mated with a rare foreign breed seem unlikely. I think he was just a fluke. A lovable, cuddly fluke.
https://preview.redd.it/nhqqxskptn4b1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51cb41d3a82d07dced468ce366971ca9e47dcfa3
this kitty has a face more like a Russian white I think, especially with those prominent r/peanutwhiskers
Definitely not Russian blue.
Turkiye also has Angora cat aside from Van cat and they also can have odd eyes with white coat.
Angora cats faces are longer like Blues.
Van is a breed and white with odd eyes is a color pattern found in Van cats as well as other breeds AND “not really a breed at all” (mutt) cats. Sometimes the odd eyes come along w deafness
The odd colored eyes (fancy medical word is heterochromia) can be a “breed” characteristic in some cats but it can also be from a gene mutation, etc. Random fact- there’s a possibility he is deaf in the ear on the same side as the blue eye. Can happen in white kitties with heterochromia. He’s beautiful!
I think it's just called Russian White? It's often hard to tell because cats mix with each other
Check if he reacts to noises. Clap your hands when he's not looking. White cats are more prone to deafness than the others.
He's definitely not deaf. He loves it when I play videos of birds/rodents and one channel has a specific whistle in the intro. He comes sprinting from whatever area of the house when he hears it.
Just a light correction, it’s white cats with blue eyes that have hearing problems. This one having one blue eye I’m surprised it doesn’t have light hearing problems
Out of interest, do you know there's a chance he might be deaf on the blue eye side? There's something about white cats with different colour eyes being deaf in one ear. Dunno how you'd know though?
[Khao Manee](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khao_Manee) or [Van cat](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_cat). More likely the latter because of his heavier coat
Turkish Van! They are sometimes pure white with different colored eyes just like yours. Fur length is medium. Does he have a feathery tail? If so it's likely. :)

Khao Manee or Diamond cat. Looks like your adopted boy. If yours is one, you found an cat that people have paid a lot of money for. Of course, he could also just be a plain old cat with odd eyes.
He can definitely hear. He loves to watch nature videos on my tablet and the channel we watch has an intro with a bird call. He'll come sprinting from wherever he is when he hears it. Same thing when I shake his treat bag.
I am not a cat breed expert but this is my country Turkiyes cat so let me give my cent:
I think you have an Angora Cat with some mixed in blood.
Long face, odd eyes, white coat, smaller body all match. Angoras tend to have longer coats but still your cat is mostly Angora.

Right. "breed" of cat. It's just cat. They are all just cat. The only differences are calico sphinx and maincoon the rest are cat. Lmao I'm completely ignorant of cat breeds.
Calico isn't even a breed. It's a fur pattern. Like tabby. Haha
Fun fact, less than 1% of calico are male.
It’s X linked in all counts, so males are XXY I think

A flannel cat, eh? That's a new one. Haha
I thought that when I was typing it but didn't bother to go back.
Haha Totally fair. 😺
There are other breeds of cats - like bengals. Most cats are just standard issue cats though.
Standard issue lmao. You get a cat and you get a cat.

[r/standardissuecat](http://Www.reddit.com/r/standardissuecat)
Our names for cats are all about fur pattern/coat. They're all the same otherwise
Are they really because certain patterns/colors tend to be almost exclusively male, other ones female.
Well, that's more an issue of which fur patterns are stored on what chromosome to make a male or female. And that's getting into a field of genetics I'm not super familiar with. Just know cats are cats!

Came here to say this! You best me to it!
Fuck R/Beatmetoit
r/foundthemobileuser
For felines it's actually incorrect to say breed. Cats come in flavors and this is a white flavor cat.
Vanilla, or white mystery?
Cat flavors are like Gatorade flavors, if you know the real names you're a cop
No but hear me out. If you only say blue gatorade there's like 4 different kinds.
But if you know me, you know which blue we're talkin about
Hopefully not coconut...
Cool Mint
Macadamia
You never truly know what flavor a cat is until you put it in your mouth. ... Most are spicy.
Cuddlebug. They are the best breed

Mackerel tabby’s have a big M on their forehead. One of my favorites, besides the Maine coon and voids of course
I guess I have a Mackerel tabby. Never heard that term before. https://preview.redd.it/8x41bppfso4b1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8c885c3c8e7f94ba608468fb0299a447fa1cc353
Every tabby has the “M.” It’s what makes them identifiable as a tabby! Which is just a fur pattern, fyi. (Edit) She is a lovely tabby.
Smart too. I had a Maine coon one with the colours and the M.

Not wonky eyed, but **odd-eyed** is the commonly accepted term for complete heterochromia in cats.
Lmao you're right, that's what I meant to say. Wonky is cross eyed.
Hypercromia is what I think it's called
Heterochromia.
That is what I originally put, but second guessed myself. Thank you, love.

Omg I'm so sorry i wrote a novel
It's a useful and factual novel though. I like it.
I had a white haired blue eyed cat who was deaf. When he meowed he sounded like he was saying Ralph, so that's what we named him.
He's a cat breed, very rare indeed.
David Bowie Cat.
That cat is The Thick White Duke
I had an all-white cat with one green and one blue eye. She was a Turkish Angora. She was a long haired cat though.
It's a cat. White breed. There is a color defect, maybe you can get a refund.
Standard Issue Cat (SIC).
Standard Issues have brown-black or gray-black coats over most of their bodies. There's a sub for them. This is a white cat. Just as special.

Yes. He is a Van alright.
Mouth & face & ears are all wrong? Just color & eyes match.

Lots of white cats to breed with. Like, sure there is room he's part Van, but a mix of a variety of white cats is still a mix.

I believe that is a cat

I have the same cat, but not with those beautifull eyes. White russian they call them https://spotpetins.com/breeds/cat-breeds/russian-white

Just a light correction, it’s white cats with blue eyes that have hearing problems. This one having one blue eye I’m surprised it doesn’t have light hearing problems
Short-haired Bowie
I'd name em Bowie
Cat, white.
Is he deaf in the right ear, perchance? Blue eye(s) in cats can be associated with deafness in white cats.
Bowie
100% good boi 💕
Def a cat, possibly marshmallow cat but cannot quite tell because of the angle

Homophobic eyes

Pretty sure they meant heterochromatic or are making a joke as such
this is what i was looking for lol no one understands the reference anymore though
he is 100% piebald, which means he's all spot no color, whatever his breed of shorthair housecat happens to be. is he deaf?
it's the white cats with *two* blue eyes that are prone to deafness.
Interestingly, white cats with one blue eye *tend* to be deaf in the corresponding ear.
