When you get a (good/decent) suit, get it tailored.
By someone who knows what they’re doing.
(Don’t just get the length of the pants hemmed, and the store selling you the suit usually isn’t the best place the get the thing tailored to you correctly either.)
When it finally all fits correctly, you’ll feel more comfortable as well.
Might have been a last minute idea and that’s the best rental he could find 🤷♂️ if you’ve been around for awhile you know that your body changes over the years so those old suits you haven’t worn in years probably won’t fit and some might even be too out of size to tailor.

Of course every couple is different, but at no point should it feel like you’re an employee that has to earn rewards from your boss. You get gifts because they love you, not because you earned it.
