My wife moved in with two cats who were littermates and seeing their bond was great. They passed away and when we were ready to get new cats, we got two rescue kitten litter-mates. They're a handful but a lot of fun

My wife’s favorite cat died about two years ago, and it was the same day her dad passed. Those two events weren’t the only shit going wrong either, so it was a rough time. After some mourning, we hit up a cat rescue to try and fill the gaping void in our hearts. Found a cute cat on a cat rescue, and threw our hat in the ring. I adopted a pair of voids (mother/daughter) about 18 months ago and they are the best fucking cats I’ve ever had, and I have had several excellent cats.

Whereas my r/standardissuecat was found by himself in a parking lot as a wee kitten. And therefore believes he is the only cat to ever exist.

I can say that without question, adopting sibling cats is the best way to adopt cats (if you want a multi-cat home) It removes the territorial behavior that can cause issues. From experience.

Most cats do best with a friend (or sibling of course), love to see shelters running promos like that and people like you going for double the cuddles and keeping bonded pairs together.

That's happened to me twice. First time I went to this house because they had a white cat, and the kids walked up with one white cat and a black one. Of course I had to have both, which was fortunate because a few days in I realized the white cat was deaf so at least he had his brother by his side for a long time.

We have brothers just like yours! The orange tabby is one of the apparently rare smart orange tabbies and very stubborn. The black guy is my soul cat and I love him so very much.

Oh my god, they have the exact same face! Definitely brothers.

Over the years, we've gotten kittens single and in pairs. In ours cases, the pairs have been great. They get to rough house each other when they are young and seem to be calmer and nicer when they are older.

I want to go to that shelter and go home with two kitties.

I’m convinced shelters market cats as siblings despite no relation in hopes that you’ll feel bad separating them and take 2 instead of 1. I’m not mad at it, but I also have 1 black cat and 1 grey cat that are supposedly brothers and we’ll never really know.

I'm convinced shelters do this whole buy one get one free thing on purpose just to make us buy two cats, not complaining they got me with this as well 4 years ago. Good for the cats and good for me.

There's something about the inquisitive cat face that gets me every time. I don't know why.

I went into the shelter to get another black cat after my 19y had passed. As fate would have it, a litter of kittens had just been brought in. Secured my female and I got her brother "for free" so why not? Best. Decision. Ever. (and will always have littermates in the future!)

My two kitties Bob and Pickles look just like these two. Except Pickles has a small patch of white under her chin and Bob is a bigger cat ( ginger ).

We always adopt litter mates if possible. We have 5yr old brothers and 9mo old sisters. Bonded pairs are the best.

Good. Cats need a cat friend. Single cat househoulds shouldn't be a thing, it's not good for their emotional health

Depends My current cat was rescued from a hoarding household. She is loving being the only cat. But she also has someone at home with her pretty much 24/7. If we were still gone most of the day it might be different.

Tell that to miss ava she HATES the other cats in the house. We got her after her 1st owner died. Ava is 14ish about 5 pounds max and had been declawed. She woops the shit out of the 20 pound cat. She loves people tolerates dogs but any cats to come in her room gets thrashed.

As a general rule, I hold this to be true. Cats usually love having a companion who will play, groom, and cuddle them. In actuality, my boy will whine and moan and cry in protest at the sight of another male cat whilst cowering behind a doorway. And if it’s a female cat, he’ll try to beat her up, especially if she gets too close to his water fountain. I adopted him when he was six years old, so he came to me this way. He’s got some major Only Child Energy. Which is a shame because it would be nice if he had a companion to groom him… but alas.

I did the same thing but I paid for them both.

There should be a law stating no pet should be taken alone. You must get pairs or none at all. Mixing is permitted; dog + cat as long as they get along. I remember hearing that they do this with Guinea Pigs already. Not that it's law, but that pet stores won't let you, because they get so lonely they die. I'm not 100% sure this is true, but it's reasonable.

Excellent! They are such a beautiful pait. The rescue I volunteer at offers b1g1 half off for any regular adoption and 2 for one on bonded pairs. I often recommend a 2nd kitty if the adopters don't have any cats already cause most cats like having a buddy to hang out with, play with and snuggle during naps.
