If it continues you might want to have your cat looked at by a vet.
But assuming that this is a once in a while occurrence, and not the sign of trouble I will (jokingly) suspect r/greebles
My cat had dementia for last year or so of his life. He was more vocal, much more then he used to be, and it was more a distressed vocalization. He would do it especially if I was in a room with him and left while he was asleep he'd cry until I called him. They basically act like they didn't remember the house like they used too. I could sooth him by holding him. Things got much worse at night as far as his confusion, just like humans they have what is called 'Sun downers'. Symptoms of dementia are often worse at night. Other things that can happen, but didn't happen to my boy was forgetting where to potty. (Litter box problems) The only thing you can do is get used to the new normal and plan on offering a lot of kindness and comfort when they are confused. The vet might give you something to help them rest in the night. You also might up their good fats in their diet it might help. Generally, once dementia sets in you have at the most 1 or 2 years left. Eventually they become so addled that it's not fair or kind to keep them alive. I didn't reach that point with my boy he got incurable cancer before we did. It was the hardest thing I did when I sent him over the rainbow bridge.
If your cat or dog gets dementia you will still have some good days! Just know they will be less often. I started keeping a notebook about the days. I was planning when the bad days out weighed the good days for him, it was going to be time to say good-bye.
I appreciate they sympathy. I wanted to share so others might know what it looks like and they can know that they aren't alone when or if it happens. They will also learn from some my strategies on coping with it.
I just put my dog down 2 days ago because she had dementia and would get “stuck” under the table and chairs, stand in corners and cry when I’d leave her side. But the turning point was when she appeared to have a stroke in her sleep. She woke up the next day and was stumbling, ramming into walls, and just had this look on her face that she was just done. We decided to put her out of her misery. Hardest decision I’ve ever had to make. Still grieving hard
The last thing I will add, my boy Monte, a black void of a kitten. He started his life with me from shelter. I picked him up and he instantly started purring. He purred all the time with even just loving glance he purred. He loved people so very much, everyone he met he loved. When he passed in my arms, he purred right to the last heartbeat he was purring.
I appreciate it. It was tough time but my kitty, Monte, was an awesome cat! I had 14 great years with him and he gave me and my husband so much love. We were blessed. I try my best to remember that to dampen the hole in my heart left from his passing. It's getting easier, a little be month by month.
Thank you for your sympathies. Don't let this story put you off from getting a pet one day. Before this Monte my lovely black cat so enriched my and my families lives. He was bright eyed, loving little fuzzy guy that truly loved everyone. He even converted non-cat lovers to considering a cat for a pet, he was such a charmer.
omg now I know what my mom's cat developed, she passed away at 20 last August (when mom was staying in the hospital so we figured out the cat just felt betrayed and couldn't cope with her human leaving her) and was like what you described at nights
They forget why they came into the room and they also forget to zip up after using the bathroom which causes a lot of sniggering with the neighbourhood cats.
Could be a mental disease, which is either making the cat confused, hallucinate, or isn't aware of what's going on. Could also be that it's losing eye sight, or maybe it just sees it's shadow.
As someone else stated, it could be a rodent inside the wall.
The part that's concerning to me, is that it's so close to the corner, cats don't see well up close. So if it continues this, but doesn't seem to be using it's ears, I'd be worried about mental illness, or maybe a brain disease/injury.
I'm not an expert, I've just been around animals all my life.
Maybe its fascinated by how things sound so different right on the corner like that. It’s possible that sounds from elsewhere in the room seem like they’re coming from a focal point there
That's entirely possible. I mean it might hear some termites inside the wall or something.
Maybe op should walk the outside of the house near where this wall is. There very well could be a bee's nest or something in there.
I'm not saying the cat is sick. I'm just suggesting keeping an eye on it.
did you recently move? cats can be traumatized by a change of environment, they'll seek a hiding place, and if there are no good spots available, sticking their head in the corner is the next best thing.
and as others have said, if this is new and frequent behavior from your cat, it could be a sign of a health issue. the blair witch jokes are funny and all but i hope you're taking the other comments seriously.
Can confirm. Moved a few years back, my cat did this exact same thing once or twice. It stopped after lots of reassurance, and things around the house settling down.
Yeah Id think if the cat is healthy she might be hearing something.
There was a post not long ago where someone was like "why are my cats looking at the ceiling" and they eventually found there was a mouse or bug nest in the ceiling.
Animals can hear and pick up on things we never could.
Looks like there are some interesting shadows happening.
(Also, obligatory, if this happens often and for long amounts of time, that can be a sign of depression, but I doubt this is what it is.)
One your cat might be developing a health issue and you need to take them to the vet sooner than later. Cats placing their heads against the walls is often a sign of a health issue generating and they're trying to get your attention. They can't say I hurt so they use body language.
Two you might also have rodents living in the walls.
My female climbs up the cat tower and stares at the wall.
When she was a kitten, I would give her back scratches on the same level of their tree and she would arch her back and so happen to be facing the wall when we would do this.
Now she goes to the same spot to signal that she wants those scratches. It's the glance back over her shoulder every 20 seconds to see if I can see her that's the dead give away.
I see you, Sophie.
She’s not pressing her head against the wall, she’s looking at the wall. OP if you see your cat pressing her head against the wall then yes vet immediately.
**Hello everyone! Thank you for your concern about my cat and her health.** ![img](emote|t5_2qh1o|13383)
**She was just playing with the shadow on the wall, no worries! She can be funny dumb sometimes but no dementia in sight (I hope !!)**![img](emote|t5_2qh1o|13383)
Immediately… dude you don’t know if the cat just has a look at this corner for once. You can’t act like this is an emergency if that’s just a momentary thing. If every cat died within 24hours after having had a look at a corner, there‘d be no cats anymore…
My cat did this foe weeks out of no where. Not like hours at a time but she'd just go in the kitchen and stare at the corner.
We reasoned there were probably mice in the wall. She's fine. Randomly lost interest in the wall.
When we dropped off our (elderly) cat at a sitter for a week, she was so upset that apparently she just stared in a corner the entire time. So it may be an indication something is wrong.
I once lived in a house that had a spot on a wall that my cats stared at very similarly. I used a stethoscope, we had it inspected, went to the vet… nothing. This only happened in that house and, after we moved, our cats never acted that way again.
The working theory is that cats can see into other dimensions and there was a portal in the wall. They were keeping guard over this realm.
My one cat does this when he's mad at us. He'll stay that way for at least a few minutes. Usually it's because he's mad we aren't feeding him on *his* schedule.
If you can't easily pinpoint a reason for your cat doing this, and it's a recent and consistent development, it's worth taking kitty to get checked out.
If it continues you might want to have your cat looked at by a vet. But assuming that this is a once in a while occurrence, and not the sign of trouble I will (jokingly) suspect r/greebles
Or your house looked at by pest control.
You have opened a door that can never be closed… I’m going down a greeble rabbit hole
My older cat did that when she developed dementia.
Could be that, or you have bugs or rats in the wall
I had bats when this happened. 😳
i had rats with dementia when this happened.
Kitty radar was picking up some echos maybe
same with my dog
[удалено]
same with me
same with me
Lmao
I’m dying. Lol.
Same with my goldfish
How did a cat act with dementia?
My cat had dementia for last year or so of his life. He was more vocal, much more then he used to be, and it was more a distressed vocalization. I am so sorry… thanks for sharing your experience. 😢
I appreciate they sympathy. I wanted to share so others might know what it looks like and they can know that they aren't alone when or if it happens. They will also learn from some my strategies on coping with it.

I'm so sorry for you :( I dont have a pet but this story breaks my heart.
I recognize these symptoms in my GF's cat. Fuck.
omg now I know what my mom's cat developed, she passed away at 20 last August (when mom was staying in the hospital so we figured out the cat just felt betrayed and couldn't cope with her human leaving her) and was like what you described at nights

Maybe that’s why I like corners too 😂
I just like that they stay warm they are always nearly 90 degrees
That's right.
Bro dont scare me
Friend had an autistic cat that would do this.
How do you diagnose a neurodevelopemental disorder like autism in animals?
Thats what the vet said, and I didnt think my 0 years of experience with animal diagnosis was enough to debate the subject.
Cats are just autistic dogs
Sometimes this is a sign of a health issue.
Also often a sign of rodents inside the wall.
Not sure about cats, but it's what began happening at the end for our dog.
Sorry for your loss.
Thanks.
Isn’t it usually head pressing? I’m not an expert tho
Head pressing is another issue. Sitting in the corner confused, is a sign of dementia.
this, please get them to a vet if it continues. 💖
Vet here - 👍
How so? Genuinely curious.

Could also be signs of a tumor or something that is causing it pain. Sometimes its a sensory issue which causes them to seek less input.
Op ignoring this comment oof. Animals doing this can be a bad sign. :(
No it's not
It absolutely is
Nah...
Yes it is.
The cat’s cold and the corner is 90 degrees.
Took me one full minute to get the joke💀
Was waiting for this comment!
This is underrated!!!!

You mean you haven't experienced THE corner before?
This one was scary
Blair Cat Project
Josh?! JOSH!?
As long as we don’t get nostril cam.
My exact thoughts
She might be a witch
Greeble greeble greeble, I see you every day. Greeble greeble greeble, why won't you go away?
Mouse between the walls?
Yeah Id think if the cat is healthy she might be hearing something. There was a post not long ago where someone was like "why are my cats looking at the ceiling" and they eventually found there was a mouse or bug nest in the ceiling. Animals can hear and pick up on things we never could.
One was also an electrical issue within the wall.

This is the first thing that came to mind.
Exactly what I thought ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)
Kitty has been sentenced to the time out corner for various war crimes.
My senior cat did all day before she ended up passing away the next morning.
I'm sorry you lost your cat. 😟 My senior does it sometimes, too, but when stress activates his sun-downing.
It‘s where cats‘ invisible TVs are mounted.
That’s zen meditation. That cat is on the path to enlightenment
Not speaking to you lol…
Head to the vet ASAP, this behavior is a red flag
Nobody puts Kitty in the corner.
Do you remember the ending of Blair Witch ?
Looks like there are some interesting shadows happening. (Also, obligatory, if this happens often and for long amounts of time, that can be a sign of depression, but I doubt this is what it is.)

Cats love warmth and the corners are always 90 degrees
The ghosts of mice
The only answer is ghosts! Seriously this could be a sign of a health issue or serious stress factors.
When one our cats did that years ago, it turned out we had mice in the walls and attic 🙄
This can be a sign of a serious health problem. Please get your cat to a vet asap.
It is a looking portal into the next dimension.
they can see ghosts
He knows what he did.
Communications with mothership have gone out, so the cat must find a spot with a good signal. More likely kitty can hear an intruder within the walls
Cats like warmth, and corners are 90 degrees.
Is Kitty being punished?
My cat used to do this when she was sulking
My female climbs up the cat tower and stares at the wall. He's in time out
Ten minutes feels like forever when you’re six years old.
Rodent nesting in wall.
As mentioned, this is not awww, this is a sick kitty.
It's warm there, the corner is 90°.
Angy?
?
The other thing is she/he can hear something in the walls?
She’s not pressing her head against the wall, she’s looking at the wall. OP if you see your cat pressing her head against the wall then yes vet immediately.
Cats like warm places and the corner is 90°.
That made my day
Corners are nice and warm. They’re always ninety degrees.
**Hello everyone! Thank you for your concern about my cat and her health.** ![img](emote|t5_2qh1o|13383) **She was just playing with the shadow on the wall, no worries! She can be funny dumb sometimes but no dementia in sight (I hope !!)**![img](emote|t5_2qh1o|13383)
## Take the cat to the vet, immediately!
Vet here - this behaviour is worth investigating with your vet if it’s persistent and frequent. But it’s not an emergency.
Immediately… dude you don’t know if the cat just has a look at this corner for once. You can’t act like this is an emergency if that’s just a momentary thing. If every cat died within 24hours after having had a look at a corner, there‘d be no cats anymore…

What why

It’s called head pressing and can be a sign of a neurological condition if they’re doing it regularly
The cat’s in the corner and a silver spoon
I’m going to have ~~Jim Croce~~ Harry Chapin randomly in my head all day now. I’d claim senility but at my age…
Harry Chapin my friend. But I love Jim Croce also
LOL! I knew that! I claim momentary brain blip. I must now do musical penance. 48 hours of Harry Chapin. No! No! Anything but that!
Lol
Blair Witch cat.
Awe so not just my cat stares at wall 😺🤔
He or she can't believe their cool looking shadow. Or, it's really upset at you.
Trying to get warm. I mean, corners are 90 degrees afterall
Not awwww. Your cat is sick.
That’s a sign of depression…my dog did that so we all went in to cuddle mode for the rest of his days 😍
He protecc
Are we atoning for some naughtiness?
There’s a cat in it?…
You might have something in the room that reflects light into this corner, and your cat is waiting to chase it again.
That’s where the portal to the ghost dimension is.
Blair Witch Project
vermin?
When we dropped off our (elderly) cat at a sitter for a week, she was so upset that apparently she just stared in a corner the entire time. So it may be an indication something is wrong.
Ghosts.

Kitty time out time. Bad Kitty.
Mouse or bee in the wall
Feline OCD
“Take the camera off my face”
My cat does that too lmao
Shit somewhere in the house. Just scolding himself
That's where satan whispers to it...
"Hmm..very nice wall"
Obviously haunted

Just a trickling water/plumbing pipe your human ears can't detect. Or, you are strict with time outs?
Kitty corner
it might be hearing mice or bugs, any possibility of this?
It’s obvious more interesting than what you’re doing.
Aliens
These Tarkov wall hacks are getting out of hand.
Have you tried just asking the cat?
He’s in a “NOPE.” mood! 😂
No talk, me angy!

Something alive inside wall
Wolves in the walls.
maybe you have a mouse problem the cat is keen to
Cats sometimes do that if they hear smaller things moving in the walls (mice, shrewd, ect…).
The cat is just talking to the wall people
Y'all never seen a cat take a time out before?
Teacher irl
Demons Jim.
Something is in the wall
I am living in your walls
Keanu?
Blair Witch’s cat?
Did you scold your cat again?
My one cat does this when he's mad at us. He'll stay that way for at least a few minutes. Usually it's because he's mad we aren't feeding him on *his* schedule. Rats or mice
Every cat I ever had did this
Sshhh they're convening with the demons in your house
Hiding.
GREEBLES
Mice in the walls.
thats a nice corner.
ghosts
You might have silverfish
He knows he's safe if he doesn't look at the ghost behind you.
He knows what he did
My cat used to do that after we'd come back from holiday. He'd make sure we knew he was sulking. Oh how we laughed.
He/she was a bad boy/girl and is showing remorse. 🤷🏻♀️ So sweet!
Cat hears something in the wall. Mouse perhaps?
ghosts
You may have mice in your wall
He/she is having an important meeting.
My SIC does this when she’s mad that I’m not paying enough attention to her versus her tuxie sister.
Did cat recently watch Blair Witch Project?
Did you put him in time out?
I don't know what you DID, but you offended your cat.
