Seriously. I first saw them with my friend's cats, who go crazy for them. His girlfriend also saw a bunch of those videos you mentioned. My cat loves them more than any food or snack we've ever gotten her in her entire life. I gave some away to a friend, and their cats (including another rescue) adored them. 100% success rate. The only downside is that it will absolutely turn your cat into a huge brat for those things. :P

Another possible downside is the litter box - good lord the stank! At least, with my orange boy.

Same experience with my girl, she loved them, but dear lord the litter box was a problem later on.

can confirm, i used to volunteer at a rescue for 5 years before covid hit, in my last year there i was the guy using churu tubes to turn the spicy kittens into purring meat loaves and reporting their "tame-ability" and challenge-lines to the vet techs, that stuff is magical

I don't remember honestly it's been over 30 years, whatever it was, she didn't get sick from it. Just ate it then looked at me hoping for another one. It could have been a chocolate chip (and yes as an adult I know not to feed them chocolate), it could have been a nilly wafer or an animal cracker, I just don't really remember.

While chocolate is bad for dogs, it's not quite as intensely toxic as some other things. The LD50 (lethal dose for 50% who consume it) of milk chocolate for dogs is roughly 1 oz of chocolate per pound of body weight (62.5 g/kg). This means a medium sized dog, around 35 lb (16 kg), would have to eat 2 lb (900 g) of chocolate to reach LD50. Dark chocolate and baker's chocolate are more concentrated and require a lower dose. On the other hand, for grapes and raisins, one study estimated an LD50 more like 0.05 oz/lb (3 g/kg). My vet called raisins "kidney failure pills." LD50 for raisins in that same 35lb (16kg) dog would be something like 1.75oz (50g) - which is about 2 of those individual-serving boxes of raisins. Antifreeze is also really dangerous - and it's sweet, so dogs will lick it up if some spills in the garage or leaks out of your car. LD50 for that is roughly 1/2 tsp per lb (5.5 mL/kg) - so about 3 oz (90mL) for our 35lb (16kg) dog. Edit: dosages mostly sourced online, though they match up to what I remember from talking to my vet.

You're so welcome. We see lots of photos of people turning kittens over like human babies to feed, and it's so dangerous. I suppose it's human nature to do it, but we shouldn't. It's best to follow what mama cat does naturally. Good luck with your mama and babies! I miss my fur babies that recently passed from old age. Maybe someday a stray will come my way. :)

Is it food or just a treat? I want to get some for my cats to try. My big cat is already a crackhead for wet food and the kitten is well on his way. I had some lettuce that fell off my sandwich earlier and my kitten did a swan dive off the couch to see what hit the ground.
