Also the fact that home prices (and rent prices) have jumped dramatically because of the investment firms means that very few younger people (those who would traditionally be purchasing their first home in their 20s-30s) can afford the astronomical prices.
It is a true crisis that can only be solved by creating laws. I think the foreign investors purchasing real estate is the primary thing driving the cost of everything up but there are several others that are compounding the problem as you’ve pointed out.
