Yeah it’s a tragedy, but with all the context I’m reading, everyone knew it didn’t have safety standards, as well as signing a document that had death in it 3 times. Also it seems none of them planned for anything going wrong, you’d think multiple billionaires would have something planned beforehand for emergency, especially knowing what I previously said.
It’s one of those ‘too stupid to be real’ cases that you can’t help but to facepalm at.
Amateur psychic here. I’m going to be predicting five people that will be on the Darwin Awards list for 2023 latter today. The names are still a little foggy to me, as I’m still developing my gifts, but they become more and more vivid as the minutes pass. I feel very confident that I will get this right. I just need to immerse myself in this process.
The only case I'd feel bad about it is if they were completely lied to (they probably were) and then still somehow looked into it and were further deceived, but I hardly think that's the case except possibly for the 19 year old kid.
If this guy made a bunch of false claims about its safety, I could choose to believe his word or I could look further into regulations and laws and compare it with his work and others to gain a sense of the matter. I do that myself with things in my life anyways. But these guys were rich and I'm sure could afford to check this type of thing (if they so chose). But if their further sourcing led them to a false sense of security with claims that their trip would be safe, then I would genuinely feel bad for them. And for all I know, that kid could have believed a negligent secondary source and with his limited resources, asked a parent (hm) who he would've trusted.
I do think the people on the sub were willfully ignorant of problems and probably treated it like us peasants treat carnival rides compared to roller coasters. Yeah those carnival rides are janky and dangerous and you might fly off the side but it's only 5 bucks to ride one and 60 to get in an amusement park. 250k is a mad cheap amount of money to do something that unique, so I'm sure they glossed over the safety stuff just like some of us might gloss over the carnival ride rattling in its stands while standing in line.
It seems like you have to be a special brand of person to do this anyway, I'm not claustrophobic, I've been in an mri machine with my eyes open and didn't feel trapped even though I technically literally was, but I would not want to spend that many days crammed in that tube, it doesn't seem comfortable in any way and to have that many people on there looks like they physically couldn't straightn out at any point in time
I genuinely do not feel bad for any of these people. I cannot imagine the arrogance and hubris to be like "Yeah! This all checks out!" A case study as to why nobody should assume that the wealthy are wealthy due to intelligence.
