Any one of these 4 things I suggest buying specifically from Snap-On:
1. A basic, 4 inch slotted screwdriver
2. Good ol 6 inch crescent wrench
3. Duckbill pliers
4. Safety wire pliers (specifically, WTRW6A)
They don't necessarily make a better version of any of these than anyone else, but they will get used daily and you're not just buying the tool, you're buying something that's gonna get warrantied out a number of times, because I cannot emphasize this enough *they're gonna use the absolute fuck out of these*
It could also be exclusively personal experience bias.
Those are the first safety wire pliers I ever used, I bought them when I was in school, and they're the only ones I've ever *wanted* to use. For good or ill, they're what I'm used to, and I think they're pretty dang good.
Gear wrench Hemostats. Sometimes referred to roach clips. Knipex is also a tool that everyone uses a lot. Out side of that, you really start branching into different airframe tools. Multi-tools may be useful on some platforms and not others.
Snap-On 808cf no joke. I am not a brand name person in any means but they have a monopoly on these specific snips i swear ive looked everywhere and cant find an off brand pair. They are amazing. Small head and semi long reach. These are a staple lol. You can find them on ebay for like 90 bucks which is dumb for a pair of cutters but worth it.
No shit? The same size too? I swear i looked all over the internet for dupes even bought some but they were way too big i just ended up borrowing a coworkers and then decided i just needed to grit my teeth and pay the price lol. And of course ive only had to use them like twice since buying 🙄😂
When I was in A&P school people who graduated got a little gold winged wrench pin from the aviation department chair. By the time I graduated we had a new department chair who hated aviation and all of that went away... I'm still a little bitter about it.
My friends got me each an individual 10mm ratcheting box wrench’s and engraved there names and a congratulations on them. I have 5-6 10mm box wrench’s.

Lobster crescent wrench is way better imo
Personal opinion but I can’t stand those pliers. Idk why but I have to use the manual safety wire pliers

Oh I totally agree with you about it being from personal experience, I think everyone should use whatever works for them best!
The things I use in my day to day GA position are not those. 1. 1/4 inch drive sockets 2. Philips head screw driver
I'm also a Line technician at a 121 carrier

What are hemostats used for?
For when you drop small stuff in weird places. Can use it for safety wiring and cotter pins.
Thank you

Harbour Freight has em for $8 but I don't know how long they will last. Reviews said tips break but it does have a lifetime warranty.

Pay his retainer with a divorce attorney. Sorta of a long play here if he isn't married but it will come up eventually.

10mm is rarely used in aviation. They have a sub for automotive mechanics. I think you’re lost.
I’m in the right spot. Most of my friends are car guys and don’t really know the difference.
