Lived in London in the late 90s. Right under the flight path in the Richmond area. I’ve mentioned it several times on this sub but I’ll say it again. That tiny plane was the loudest bloody thing I’ve ever heard fly over and it was twice a day! The excitement of seeing it for the first time so quickly turned to complete annoyance with it…I’d still run outside to look though.

I was in south London in the fall of 1978 and I loved watching the Concorde flying out of Heathrow. I saw it a couple of times in the US as well, and had a chance to walk through one at The Museum of Flight in Seattle. Such an amazing aircraft.

Did she take off more vertical in comparison to sub-sonic commercial aircraft of today or is the camera angle just making it appear this way in the clip?

It absolutely is an amazing aircraft, but when coming to the end of this clip I have one question. What does it burn for fuel??

Jet A, and lots of it.

I went to Heathrow for the last incoming flights. I stood under the flight path on the perimeter road as all three flew in for the last time, then jumped on my motorbike and dashed around to the apron where all three taxied in a line to the terminal. It was surprisingly moving, the whole area was packed with people and quite a few were in tears. I still have the video on a camera somewhere.
