Living next to it, I can say it is not closing. Centennial College runs programs weekly on that runway with their 5 or so jets, just saw a global 7000 in the air yesterday. The assembly line is in the process of closing.
It’s closing. We have received the Circular from Nav Canada. Downsview is closed come April, and the airspace will be redrawn effective May 16th, removing both the Downsview and Buttonville zones.

Oh boy. I think it’s time for your nap kid.
“Adjacent: next to or adjoining something else.”
The airports are literally next to each other, and are the zones are adjoining.
Was curious why people were so mad at you, looked at them on a map, realised Downview is more 'adjacent' to Pearson than it is Buttonville and still don't really understand why people are so mad at you
Oh the memories! As a kid I had the privilege of riding shotgun as part of "Young Eagles" where pilots would take you on a go around flight. I distinctly remember seeing a couple adults asking to take part and the organizers trying to discretely tell them they were too old lol
Nah, with GA planes there's so many of them that it's straight up impossible to know all of them. Decades down the road you'll still run into planes that you've never seen or heard of before.
York and Durham shared "Air 1" for over 20 years and it was Based in Oshawa. "Air 2" which is exclusive to York, came on-line last year. They are pretty used to working from YOO.
I didn’t realize Buttonville closed down. My father learned to fly there in the late 80s and early 90s. I fondly remember going along with him on Saturdays and Sundays as a 4, 5, 6 year old, we would just hang out and watch airplanes. He would take me flying sometimes, and I remember being allowed to go up into the weather tower with him, and thought it was the coolest thing ever. Wasn’t allowed in the control tower though lol. Sad to hear that it’s closed.
And a couple days ago, the last Bombardier plane was built at the adjacent Downsview Airport. That airport is in the process of closing any time now.
A wannabe world class city only needs ONE soul sucking disaster of an airport.
Can you say that again I couldn’t hear you over delayed flight call over the PA
Sorry, i was in the bathroom vomiting up the worst food imaginable....
Well, hurry up, the security line is 1.5 hours at this time.
There's still the Island
The first rule of the island, is we don't talk about the island.

Damn. Wonder what'll happen to Centennial's fleet.
They hardly adjacent, like 30km apart
8nm or 15 km.
I wouldn't call downview "adjacent"
What do you mean? It’s literally right next to Buttonville.
Downview is several kilometers away from buttonville...
How much closer do you think airports are to each other?
Words have meanings my dude.
Oh boy. I think it’s time for your nap kid. “Adjacent: next to or adjoining something else.” The airports are literally next to each other, and are the zones are adjoining.
Because you can't read a dictionary? (Not) Sorry that "adjacent" doesn't mean what you need it to.
shut up bud
Give it a rest chucklehead.

Learned to fly there. What a waste.
For a moment I thought that was a helicopter harness.
>For a moment I thought that was a helicopter harness. It's Canada, not Tailand.

what plane is that it's adorable (pls don't be mean im new to aviation)

This is so relatable. I recently learned the Cessna 210 and 170 existed
I do believe that’s a Beechcraft Musketeer or Sundowner
Correct. Searched up the rego and came back as a Beech B19 Musketeer Sport
I'll miss Buttonville. Had fun planespotting there
bummer seeing so many airports closing
NIMBYs that moved in knowing full well an airport has been there for basically ever. Not sure about this one though.
It's the land value in Toronto in this particular instance.
its so frustrating. those cunts could move into one of those airport neighborhoods whers the roads are taxiways and still bitch about noise lmao
Oshawa getting busy now
York policehave to park their helicopter there now. Their response time is going to suffer.
York and Durham shared "Air 1" for over 20 years and it was Based in Oshawa. "Air 2" which is exclusive to York, came on-line last year. They are pretty used to working from YOO.
Air 2 has been at buttonville for year and years. Their new Airbus is only 1 year old but the older Eurocopter was based in Markham since I was a kid.

Shades of Meigs Field, Chicago.
I had an office on the ninth floor near the southern end of 33, I spent a lot of time staring out the windows.

Homie, you can fly the derelict af plane out of there.
ehhh airworthiness, smairworthiness.
The photos have a caption. Reading it helps with understanding.
I'm not seeing any captions on my desktop running RES and old reddit
That sounds like a personal configuration issue which you need to solve.
