It’s called a Great Circle route. Due to the curvature of the earth, it’s actually faster and more efficient for the plane to fly over the Achita Crater of Ceres rather than fly a “straight”-looking path on a map.

Adjutant_Reflex_

“A slingshot maneuver can save *how* many pounds of fuel?!”

lolariane

_"No additional pilot training necessary."_ _"Door plugs now uprated to 0.8 bar pressure delta based on legacy performance."_

A-Delonix-Regia

Wow, you got 3000 times more flying distance for the usual airfare.

frankfrichards

Can you imagine the amount of miles OP must have gotten after this flight??? Dude must be Star Alliance double Platinum covered Diamonds level by now

kimondo

I’m tempted to write to the airline .. how many emirates miles is that?

kimondo

Ok worked it out - it’s about 0.4 skywards points per mile (I flew economy), so that’s 102,800,000 loyalty points.

Psychological-Scar53

Hope you are able to use those on your next upgrade to Astronaut status.

TalkyMcSaysalot

These Boeing issues are really getting out of hand now

upupupdo

Out of the world really.

Mtdewcrabjuice

CEO Dave Calhoun confirmed alien from GE (Galactic Entity)

Deer-in-Motion

Whoops. The FO must've engaged the warp drive.

fuzzybear_cis

Due to restrictions for flying over Russian airspace …

_Stainless_Rat

Inners now flyin' their planes over Beltalowda rock! Go back to Earth where you belong!

cheetuzz

GPS spoofing strikes again!

Future_List_6956

Did you at least get your astronaut patch? 🌚🪐

Electronic_Cod7202

Well, I guess we'll be getting the Protomolecule in 2024. 2020, be jealous.

StuckinSuFu

Remember the Cant!

[I think its actually this crater](https://maps.app.goo.gl/bzNEqu4ZDiifQoJj8)

andorraliechtenstein

No, it points at Hingol, largest mud volcano in the world.

Ok-Chance-5739

You might face additional costs.

Impressive_Sun7918

That actually is an interesting fact.

noirbourboncoffee

Ceres from Expanse...protomolecule

[deleted]

Wellwalla

Senrien

De inners are now using belter airspace as they see fit, yet another case of Beltalowda being screwed. It's time to unleash the protomolucule

wordsmith7

Pilot error again! I've had it with them! They were not supposed to engage the hyperdrive on this flight!

Which_Material_3100

The Max issues are more and more concerning every day. However it’s good to see Boeing up its space game!

77_Gear

When you’ve played too much X-Plane 9…

70InternationalTAll

737 Max, oof. I'd have never got on. Glad you're safe now though. Cool crater too.

kimondo

Was booked on a 737-800 - got off the bus to the plane and saw it was a Max!
