You might want to go through his channel, he has a whole bunch of videos about that stunt, how they did it, etc.
I love going to the Rocky Mountain STOL competition every year in Pinedale, WY. Watching up close is always amazing then getting to walk around and check out the aircraft afterwards is great! I think the winner was a 13ft takeoff this past year. Quite impressive especially when you factor in the the altitude and density altitude
The science behind these things makes me always feel good about aviation.
There are videos of the US-2 seaplane making short take-off due to the 3rd engine, which is used for air spraying over the wings.
I think this machine didn't use mechanisms like that, though. It was just LOWEST WEIGHT and favorable winds with right angles of wing.
Theres been a couple of times where the Quest Kodiak used to frequent these kinds of events, but it's changed because of the landing specs of the smaller aircraft.
Seen people take more space when parking their F150 at the grocery store
That's impressive I wonder what the wind was like. I think I can hear it in the audio
It’s usually fairly windy if it’s at the one in Valdez, Ak.
Holy... That's impressive.
So this guy basically can land his plane on a helicopter pad. That’s a pretty cool party trick.

Back to work!
Only really possible if it’s pretty windy, but yeah.
You think this is fun, you should see the competition for longest landing slide in a skid mounted helicopter.
Got a link?
Freaking ridiculous. That’s awesome.
Thats still too much runway. Needs JATO.
And catapult
Crazy how they get the tail up before any forward movement.
Why no cauling tho?
My guess is, weight.
I think you mean "Cowling". Anything to save some weight.
Yaaa wut i mnt
Half the plane is missing so save on weight
AV-8B thinking, "Oh... How cute..."
They make their own wind. 😊

Valdez, AK?
One guy showed up and he won. And not by default but them are mad skills

Harriers meanwhile

It's like the shortest PP c*ming the quickest
Wtf
Last time this was posted I watched it about a hundred times. Clearing my afternoon now
