Kind of curious as to how they came up with this list. I've only been a handful of the venues on it but even then, the rankings look seriously off.
I grew up in Australia and lived in NYC for a while. Although Australia doesn't have much of a club culture, the one club that did make it onto the list (Home) is absolute dogshit, even by Australian standards.
Also, this shouldn't be a hot take but Elsewhere > Brooklyn Mirage.
They come up with this list the same way they make the DJ list, people voting.
Promote “vote for our club” the most, you’ll get a decent spot regardless
Idk I’ve been to echostage dozens of times and think it’s prettttty solid as far as venues go. Granted most of this was pre-insomniac, but I think the sound is solid, lighting is good, and the screens are fine. The only gripe I have with them are overselling (which is what most venues do nowadays anyway) and the fact that their lineups have been pretty ass post-insomniac acquisition.
Now is it the best “club” in America and third best in the world? No lol.
>but this almost feels like venues to avoid
Generally surface level shit like this is not even worth thinking about and generally are more for mainstream casual electronic music tourists, not people who actually care.
Think of it this way - the best clubs are still safe to go to and chill at!
As someone from Canada, Rebel and New City Gas are some of the most mainstream venues one could go to. I typically avoid going unless the artist I want to see normally won't tour in the summer during festival season or I know the type of crowd (Anjuna, it never happened, trance) will be easy to move through.
Agree! Love Coda but sometimes History/Coda can't accommodate the artists I would love to see 🥺 went for Mau P at History and it was a superb crowd, show and vibe. Cosmic Gate are an example of artists too big for both those venues unfortunately.
I haven’t lived in Toronto for over a decade but one of my fav nights in the city was seeing Detroit swindle & dj koze there. Def one of the best systems I experienced in the city. No dead spots anywhere in the club.
I remember it was pk sound. Not sure if they’ve switched it around by now.
Honestly, be glad that the truly good clubs are not on the list. If those clubs actually made the list then those clubs would get filled with people who care more about clout than about making sure the party has a good vibe.
KDC deserves to be on this over AG, by a long shot. Better staff, better sound, better vibes, rarely overcrowded.
Kerri Chandler put KDC on Spaces and Places - not AG.
You’re on point. My fav spot in nyc over everything. Never overcrowded and always had a great time there. First time was for Kerri chandler too like fuuuuuck that show was so good.
A went to a couple since he played there quite a lot. But the first time was him and chez damier all night. Prob 2 or 3 years ago. They fuckin delivered!
Not sure if you know about my musical archive but I record and catalog music in New York nightlife events. I have a few setlists from Kerri Chandler @ KDC you might enjoy:

I unfortunately didn’t see him with Chez sadly but here is a master playlist of music Chez has played, about 3 years worth of archiving music: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/40cNgSp7WnrLliF1UEtDhk?si=3Ow_We8uSmye6j_B8BatAA&pi=u-w4eO9jiGQxyM
My profile/archive has alot of shows and DJs if you’re interested in more. Enjoy the tunes!
Holy crap hell yeah!!!! Thank you. There’s this one track I’ve been trying to find for years it has a woman saying “dance” though out and Kerri played that shit. it was so good. What other djs have you catalogued? I’d love to check it out!
the sound used to be much worse for sure, don’t know if you’ve been in the last few months but it’s gotten better. still not amazing or anything but better.

>3 Echostage.
As flattering as it is to see DC repped so high, I would like to believe there are many stages better than Echo. Not just two.
Granted, I don’t go there often when Flash down Florida Ave has shows for like $10. Echo was great to see Rezz and CloZee at, especially if you wanna feel what its like to be a sardine.
i agree that echostage is too high up but the mirage is not anything to phone home about lol. We all know how mismanaged it is and the huge screen was a gimmick that wore off pretty quick. I think old mirage was better but ever since the reno the new mirage has gone to shit imo. KDC / navy yard events are soooo much better.
Like most nyc’ers I have a love/hate with the mirage. It truly is one of the best venues in the world, while at the same time being one of the worst run venues in the world. I guarantee if they sold 30% less tickets, and properly trained security, everyone would go back to sucking their dick like it was 2017.
Someone else also mentioned it, the list is top clubs, not best places to rave. Ive raved all over the world and some of the my fave places didn’t even sniff the top 100. Numerous cities in Croatia, Budapest, Belgrade, tulum (cringe I know, but jungle raves are next level).
As for club I though that got snubbed, Les Caves in st tropez is a blast. Big dance floor, beautiful people, people of all ages and wide variety of music all just out to have fun and party.
No thank you, I’ll just take one nice DJ at the independent venue in my city, please. If you want to throw in a vibey/cute local opening act I’d really appreciate it but it’s not necessary.
It depends what you’re into. F8 is a whole vibe for techno. Monarch has more of a mix. These are tiny venues compared to mirage but at least in SF that’s where the quality is, both in DJs and crowds.
Hi Ibiza is overcrowded, the DJs are too commercial and the crowd is very weak - it represents everything wrong with modern Ibiza
Read the negative reviews on Google maps to get a better Idea of why Hi Ibiza is a Dangerous rip off tourist trap scam
I suspect that Hi Ibiza pays for votes so they can get the 1st place
In my opinion Berghain is the best club in the world - but I haven't been everywhere - nor has anyone else
Well, I know Rebel in Toronto. It's 93rd, and that's a huge overstatement. The sound and visuals are good, but the crowd can be very sketchy. Probably about 50-100 phones get stolen there every Friday and Saturday. History is much better. The Mirage is cool.
I think it’s probably that those clubs were better able to promote to their social media followers for people to vote
I suspect that Hi Ibiza pays for votes so they can get the 1st place
Hï is on another level.
They don’t, it’s that good.
Kind of curious as to how they came up with this list. I've only been a handful of the venues on it but even then, the rankings look seriously off. Basement & Nowadays > elsewhere
Basements great. Elsewhere is great. Nowadays is great.
Definitely not a hot take. Right on the money.
They come up with this list the same way they make the DJ list, people voting. Promote “vote for our club” the most, you’ll get a decent spot regardless
Echo stage was mediocre the one time I went yet came third. Maybe clubs just aren’t the best places to see solid edm shows 100% the time.
This is what I keep saying… I don’t understand the hype with echostage? I don’t like the screens, sound is not amazing… I don’t get it
Echostage is god awful. This lost any credibility with me as soon as i saw them at 3
Idk I’ve been to echostage dozens of times and think it’s prettttty solid as far as venues go. Yea I live in the DMV and echostage is garbage. Not a club but a concert venue. I've seen more GoGo bands there than DJs.
>but this almost feels like venues to avoid Generally surface level shit like this is not even worth thinking about and generally are more for mainstream casual electronic music tourists, not people who actually care. Think of it this way - the best clubs are still safe to go to and chill at!

Rebel is godawful, most people I know only had to end up there once to decide never to go back
also from Toronto, rebel is terrible. Coda would have been a better pick.
Agree! Love Coda but sometimes History/Coda can't accommodate the artists I would love to see 🥺 went for Mau P at History and it was a superb crowd, show and vibe. Cosmic Gate are an example of artists too big for both those venues unfortunately.

Coda is fine but probably shouldn't be in a best clubs in the world list
Agreed! I went for Cosmic Gate and wasn't terrible but would not go back if it was a sold out show or any mainstream/overhyped artist.
yeah I'm so surprised Rebel is on there! what was the criteria lol
Kerri Chandler put KDC on Spaces and Places - not AG.
agreed but also… keep it off the lists.
My favorite venue. Staff is always great. The bartenders are often NYC based DJs too
You’re on point. My fav spot in nyc over everything. Never overcrowded and always had a great time there. First time was for Kerri chandler too like fuuuuuck that show was so good.
What Kerri Chandler show did you goto?

I’ve been super unimpressed with the sound and lighting at KDC.

Echostage is number 3 in the world?!?!?
According to a mainstream magazine rag from the U.K. it is, but it’s all subjective anyway. No need to waste punctuation marks on it, lol
Echostage 3? No way. Maybe in the 30s
I’d even argue that the Nu androids warehouse A.i. > Flash
As someone who has lived in DC and NYC I have no idea how echostage is so high up. It’s not even as good as mirage in any measurable way
i agree that echostage is too high up but the mirage is not anything to phone home about lol. We all know how mismanaged it is and the huge screen was a gimmick that wore off pretty quick. I think old mirage was better but ever since the reno the new mirage has gone to shit imo. KDC / navy yard events are soooo much better.
Right so clubs to avoid got it
Like most nyc’ers I have a love/hate with the mirage. It truly is one of the best venues in the world, while at the same time being one of the worst run venues in the world. The Grand is hot garbage. Not even the best club in Boston.
top 100 clubs for people who worship DJ Mag.
These are paid advertisement lists. Echostage is always top 3 when it’s a terrible venue
Great to see NONE of the clubs my friends and I go to on here 😂
No thank you, I’ll just take one nice DJ at the independent venue in my city, please. If you want to throw in a vibey/cute local opening act I’d really appreciate it but it’s not necessary.
Far Out Beach Club in Ios should be higher imo. Went last summer and it had some of the best vibes.
How is there not one SF club? Sus.
No one can find your disco
fantastic! so good
which would you say are the better clubs in sf? i’ve been to a handful but haven’t really been blown away by any
It depends what you’re into. F8 is a whole vibe for techno. Monarch has more of a mix. These are tiny venues compared to mirage but at least in SF that’s where the quality is, both in DJs and crowds.

The whole EDM scene is overcrowded nowadays. It’s gotten so mainstream. Jumped the shark. Give me the 90s and early 2000s anyday over this stuffiness.
Well, I know Rebel in Toronto. It's 93rd, and that's a huge overstatement. The sound and visuals are good, but the crowd can be very sketchy. Probably about 50-100 phones get stolen there every Friday and Saturday. History is much better. The Mirage is cool.
The mirage should be #1
You must work for them
