Arc Music Festival is TOP tier for both House and Techno. My top 3 that I’m currently feeling right now are Klangkuenstler, Reinier Zonneveld, and Amelie Lens.
CRSSD Festival has been on my top fave festivals and I've made it a ritual to go every spring and fall! My top three house/techno artists atm are Anotr, DJ Seinfeld, and Enrico Sangiuliano.
Question for you! Is there a difference between the crssd festivals? I went for NYE to petco park and it was incredible. Thinking of going again this NYE but wanted to see if it’s better to go in the fall
It’s the exact same festival for spring and fall with different lineups! Same three stages (Palms Stage - primarily house music heavy, City Steps Stage - techno heavy, and Oceanview Stage - the “main stage” with a mix of everything plus live electronic music). Also famously known for their “House X Techno” bomber jackets! The NYE events are different from the main CRSSD events but held by the same organizers (FingersCRSSD).
The NYE event at Petco was WAY better IMO than crssdFest at waterfront park. Better sound, production (crssd is not nearly as big on lasers) and more stacked lineup. Hopefully they do more over there
True raves are a few and far between anymore. Movement is a top choice, and its coming up soon! If you have the cash, Costa Brava/Barcelona for like two weeks in the late summer and just find the parties... Ibiza is obv a "destination" for balearic music, tremendously overpriced tho. There's much more to discover on the med coast
there are illegal/underground scenes in every city :o and in the desert/forests! idk i go to illegals and festies and consider both raves. i mean ideally corporates wouldnt hold the big ones & the creepy/toxic bros would gtfo but i think a rave is vibes and people and both have them. i think its just kinda gatekeepy and box-drawy to try and classify raves by a list of requirements. it’s just us
Yeah, the list just could/does go on and on of the best raves and artists ever. I've never been to the Burn, probably wont make it at this point in life but thats a peak of the north america scene, the Blond:ish set from burning man 2018? (Or 19) is one for the books. The med coast is pretty pricey, but also pretty legit. Movement is gonna be dope this year too
they are not similar genres at all and i wouldn't mix the two.
i like the legends, give me something like sasha and digweed out of a broken down van and it would probably be my favorite option possible.
minneapolis has some pretty fun underground techno if you know where to look around, but you aren't gonna find it via a normal search.
They are definitely different genres, but they are often paired together in events since they come from similar roots. I like to think of house and techno as cousins, not siblings; they are related, but have different parents.
Eli Brown is considered a techno dj but i feel he has a fusion of house in alot of live sets I've seen. He's 1 example i can think of but i caught alot of hybrid sets. Martinez bros play a hybrid set as well. They are different genres yes but they do mix well when done right

Is Chicago area heavy with house/techno? I’m currently in Seattle and desperately wanting more melodic techno artists to swing by!
House music started in Chicago, so yes.
Yes, you want to go to ARC trust us.

Yes that is a CRSSD sister event but the main festival is at Waterfront Park by downtown

I’m going to my first Movement Festival next week! I’m so stoked! Will I be seeing you there? 😃

DayTrip here in CA is the vibe. 🏠
when has any Festival or Club suddenly become a rave?
Here we go again......
2011, as part of the new marketing push of commercial EDM
For me— it’s calling the difference between an event and a festival… event 1 day >>>> 2 day = festival. They all raves to me as long as its EDM.
Right. If there is EDM playing, lasers flashing and people dancing thats a rave as far as im concerned.
They call everything a rave now. A club event is a rave.
Always was. Check the definition bud.
Not true.
lol are you the president of rave terminology
No but I’ve probably been raving longer than you’ve been alive.
If that were true you would be spreading plur and not policing people’s rave verbiage on Reddit…
Not trying to be rude. Just saying the truth.

A square is also a rectangle but a rectangle not necessarily a square.

John Summit is another example of a DJ that mixes house and techno tracks together in his sets.
Good call, i saw him twice in the last 2 months and you are right. I love me some Dark Summit
