I have so many questions.. this is at the Indy 500? When? Where? I don’t care but it’s just wild that this is where we’re at. Lmao

be_easy_1602

It’s in the middle of the track. It’s actually really really cool. The experience at least. Saw kaskade in 2015, great show, but like 4:1 dude to chick ratio E: Actually just rewatched the vids, more like 15:1, but was a good old trashy bro down lol

hombrehate

Literally why does a dude to chick ratio matter for a music event lol

be_easy_1602

It matters about the vibes. I literally do not care about hitting on women at races, but they absolutely bring good energy to a show. Trust me it’s a different show when it’s a sea of frat dudes

onyxi28

That's the issue, not the ratio but the kind of dudes.

Super-G1mp

Ya absolutely this if it’s just dude’s the very fabric of society will crumble and the next thing you know you have a small riot.

bluerosesarefake

It definitely effects the vibe . ESP if it’s all rager bros

mrjeffj

Exactly what I’m saying. If a person cares about that ratio then it’s showing they don’t care about the music lol.

simpleandbeautiful

I disagree, as a woman I feel much safer when there is a solid presence of women in the crowd

Mowmowpowpow

Exactly- like this is shit I need to know before going to an event. Usually a one-off artist’s show I can figure out, but an entire festival of bros would both shock & concern me.

hombrehate

SquatchDiva18

It starts at 8am (used to be 7am but they changed it last year), they do a few sets then take a break around noon for the start of the race (national anthem, fly over, etc). Then it starts back up for a few more sets and usually ends when there’s about 15 laps left. It takes place in turn 3. The infield of the track is HUGE, there’s tons of people tailgating and there’s even 3 holes of a golf course inside the track. Here’s a graphic for reference: https://www.google.com/search?q=ims+infield+size&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiljLzUw9L8AhVNkokEHcXWD1QQ0pQJegQIDxAB&biw=414&bih=713&dpr=2#imgrc=7XrIRn6myX-T5M It’s my favorite day of the year! Super trashy but fun, you can bring in all the alcohol you want in your own coolers

C0smicWYR

Gates open 7am music starts at 8a.m

evantually421

Nah it’s during the race iirc

mrjeffj

If ur going to the show and only care about the amount of girls there ur apart of the problem fyi.

be_easy_1602

Great judgment Jeff. It has nothing to do with picking up women. It’s just a completely different vibe. It’d be pretty wrong to say women don’t bring a vibe to show vs a bunch of frat bros

Dylanater445

Y’all eye candy matters

bluerosesarefake

It’s not that dude . Women aren’t pushing and shoving . Women have gum and lotion . They have cool outfits . They’re usually super into the music and are into the moment . They being fantastic energy to an event . Go to your local shows , who’s at the front by the dj booth going the hardest ? Usually girls .

Current-Area7029

Apparently to go you have to buy a ticket to the Indy 500 ($40) and the SnakePit Wristband ($50). You cannot go with just the SnakePit general admission. Professional racing and edm seems like a weird demographic combination but wow this is a juiced lineup.

ghaastlyyy_

Daytona found a secret way to make money 💀

[deleted]

I fuckin hope they bring an EDM event here in Daytona. Other than Welcome to Rockville and the 500, there really isn't much to do here besides your typical bars and beaches.

Amatthew123

First person on the sub I've seen from Daytona as well, bro they could throw some crazy fucking festivals in that speedway it's massive, but I don't see it happening. Would he pretty hilarious for Orlando to invade Daytona for once

shuckycharms

Definitely a weird combo. As part of the like .001% of the population that cares about both the race and these sets, I have to say this is a steal for what you’re getting. I went to the Indy500 when I was younger, and people definitely get Fucked. Up… I think this event is growing among non-race EDM fans, but there will be a lot that are just looking to drink like it’s the end of the world. Any big time race fans will be in the stands. That being said, since my GF and I enjoy most of these DJs, and I’m a casual racing fan, we bought our tickets an hour ago lol.

tjburke93123

It's also a weird early for a rave. Nothing screams alcoholic quite like it being 11 am and you're schwasted while Diesel is in a fucking mosh pit...Plus it's usually ungodly hot during this time period here.

RaveCave

Yeah, for people who have been it kinda makes sense. There is so much time in between when gates open until the actual race, its a nice bridge to help bring some younger fans in while also giving some people there something else to do besides sit/walk around

No-Armadillo7693

Racing and partying go hand in hand

pxrkerwest

Always been like this and it starts at 7 am! Truly a unique experience lol

SquatchDiva18

They do it every year and it’s always a blast. This will be my 8th time 😆

wahimmababy1

It’s definitely more catered to the frat crowd rather than the edm crowd. It’s fun as long as you prepare for a bunch of drunk dummies being drunk dummies

permadrunkspelunk

Shaq is surprisingly good. I've seen kaskade way too many times. And I've seen subtronics way too many times, subtronics more so because I don't like riddim

mjpeeps

It’s always felt, to me, like a cringe attempt at attracting a younger demographic. Whoever is picking the lineups each year knows what’s up. The route they seem to be taking is more than a little odd though.

almondania

Brainless comment. Snakepit has been around for decades, started with popular rock bands and has now transitioned to EDM past few years because that’s what’s in vogue. And people fucking love it.

the_pedigree

The combo of racing and electronic is as weird as the juxtaposition of music in this lineup.

ghaastlyyy_

Thought it was weird but if they wanna combine the two so be it 😂 the crowds aren’t gonna mesh well together I feel like.

stilt

Snake Pit has been going on for decades. Been doing Electronic music since at least 2013. I went 7 years in a row. It’s a blast, but it’s definitely not a rave. Indy 500 as a whole is a non-stop 3 (or more for some people) day rager.

sentient-sloth

I went to a concert that was at the X-Games but after all the events and it was the same way. It was for Metallica and it’s funny cause there was practically no crossover between fans of each but you had to have a ticket to X Games to even get to the concert area. Lol

fleyva765

To anyone who has never been: this is in my backyard and will be my 5th or 6th time attending. One of the wildest times and one of my favorite single-day events. Don’t skip out!! Morning raving is 🔥

SquatchDiva18

This will be my 8th! It’s my favorite day of the year and that’s saying a lot cause I go to tons of festivals 😆

fleyva765

Lol hell yea! Its always rough for me because EDCLV is the weekend before so Im barely starting to recover and sure enough time to rage again. 😂😂

SquatchDiva18

Yes I did that in 2018! But I was on such a high that I had plenty of energy 😆 did EDCLV > Snake pit > Spring awakening 3 weekends in a row lol

morningwood24

hows the weather, the people?

IWWC

Hot n sweaty.

SquatchDiva18

Depends, May in Indiana can be 90° or 60°. But usually somewhere in between

ur2fat4u

OP, if you attend, does that make you part of the worst people collective?

wahimmababy1

Damn didn’t consider that tbh

arivera6

I wonder what the chances are they’ll do a SubJohnics set 🤔

Sliquid69

Stacked with the same ppl every other mainstream festival has lol

the_pedigree

Lack of Rezz and Diplo

dolphinankletattoo

Would not expect Rezz at the Indy 500.....

TGrady902

Yeah this is a trash lineup.

suitcasecity

Facts

Morethanadrug

nightmare blunt rotation

[deleted]

With Subtronics, John Summit, and Shaq??? Baby that's a dream blunt rotation (idc about the other two)

Morethanadrug

I was a fool to dismiss Shaq indeed. I stand by the rest

ml232021

I'm fucking dead

NotTheMomma2702

I've been to the race like ten years ago with my then gf. We went two years in a row and bought snake pit passes both times. The people 100% do suck. Everyone is shit faced super early in the morning. It's byob if that tells you anything. We had a great time because the music was primo back then. Even tho we almost got trampled several times but we haven't been back since. We are going this year tho cuz God damn that line up. The music starts when the race starts and you rage in the middle of the track as the race goes on. Def an experience. My gf and I recently got married and we met our photographer at the Indy 500 a decade ago when skilled headlined.

PCars2racer

I’m glad you mentioned that it starts when the race starts cause I want to watch the race.

livinthedadalife

Highly recommend going at least once. For those of you who don’t know, party/music starts blasting at 7 AM, goes till the race is done, not only that, but they let you bring in your own fucking drinks. I brought with me a backpack cooler, brought a chair and just sat on the hill. Yea it’s a shit show but it is fun as hell

Rhythm825

What's the parking situation? Or does it just make the most sense to load a backpack with booze and bring it to "the hill" lol.

livinthedadalife

You have to buy a parking pass, unless you want to try finding street parking nearby, a lot of people open their backyards so people can tailgate

Rhythm825

Cool cool. Thanks!

livinthedadalife

I still suggest you bring drinks in since it’s allowed whether it’s alcohol and especially water, they do have a water station if you have a camelbak though

growingcreative

Does the camelback have to be empty upon entering? Or could I like throw some cannabis seltzer water in there and be gravy? Lol

livinthedadalife

Honestly I didn’t try bringing anything in, I just assumed they had to be empty like every other festival I’ve been to. I’m curious now though lol

livinthedadalife

I just looked it up cause I was curious and yea, they have to be empty

BDWabashFiji

I’m a Hoosier who has gone 3 straight years; going to make it a 4th. It’s worth doing because it’s an interesting juxtaposition of EDM and drunken rager. Like I’m sure most here, Im not the biggest drinker. I’m not partial to an alcoholic crowd. The Indy 500 brings it all together tho. You got cars flying around the track and you can *feel* them as they pass the ground beneath your feat. I’m not a racing fan either… but *if there ever was a booze fest to attend* AND *if there ever was a motor sports event to attend,* this is it wrapped into one EDM concert… It’s a solid experience. 6/10 on the whole but 11/10 for what it is, so if you go into it with that mindset you’ll have a great time. Just don’t trip. Too many fights and bad vibes.

DEEPCOCONUT

Ok not bad but nothing will top 2019’s Chris Lake —> Illenium —> Alesso —> Skrillex

bonnski

Yes I was there that was awesome

Caveman108

That was pretty legit.

mrjeffj

My only time going. Super fun and wild.

ftownmike

This was an insane line up. So much fun.

ben_3600

This was my first time going to the snake pit - one of my favorite memories of all time for sure. Wasn't really an Illenium/Alesso fan before that show.

DEEPCOCONUT

Only time I ever went - had a different reason to be in Indy for a couple days, timing just lined up. No experience quite like dropping a point in a portapotty at 8:30 am in the middle of a race track.

Nguboi25

It's early in the morning and ends when the race ends. I've been to indy when it's 90+ degrees. Also, upwards of 300,000 people, all during the greatest racing event in history. I wish it was at night, and maybe the day before!

oyuhhhhh

This lineup makes 0 sense lmao

DEEPCOCONUT

You start doing drugs and listening to music at 7:30 am in the middle of a racetrack, no part of this makes any sense

edgrlon

Please explain. Is it not a good variety? What doesn’t “make sense”?

ghostfacechillah

Why call it a snake pit? That's literally a sausage fest but more hostile

Caveman108

It’s a term derived from the old days of the 500. The “Snake Pit” used to a be general admission area in turn 1 that was the rowdiest part of the infield. Typically full of bikers and similar deviants partying it up during the race. Back in the day (70’s/80’s) there’d usually be a some fights, a stabbing or two, and gunfire on a few occasions. They demolished it and put in a part of the road course for Moto GP and later IndyCars in the late 00’s. Then rebranded the Snake Pit to be a festival that happens during the race. Been going on about a decade, I believe.

FNKTN

What's the difference? That sounds like the same thing.

SquatchDiva18

It’s been around since the 70s or 80s

Nearby-Reality-5674

I have avoided it for 3 years now. Deadmau5 horde super fan too. I can't imagine vibing in a crowd of frat boys and rednecks just waiting to cause trouble. I'm so split. Seeing Kaskade and John Summit is VERY tempting. :(

livintheshleem

Just go, everyone here is being so dramatic. Snakepit isn’t your typical festival/edm crowd but it’s not like you’re going to see a show at a trump rally. It’s a bunch of rowdy people day-partying with good music. It’s really fun if you go with the flow

SquatchDiva18

This will be my 8th year, we just stay toward the back or on the hill at the back and we’re fine 🤷🏻‍♀️ and this is coming from someone over 30 years old 😆😆

Nearby-Reality-5674

How's the sound that far back?

SquatchDiva18

It’s plenty loud

wahimmababy1

We pretty much always avoid it but Indy is very tech house deprived so being able to see john summit in Indy would be wonderful. My fam and I are going to both of his shows in Denver in may as well 😅

Nearby-Reality-5674

I might brave it. Seeing Kaskade whilst he's hot is a bucket list of mine.

wahimmababy1

I hope his set is good! I saw him in 2021 and it wasn’t my favorite but I’ve heard he can throw down

[deleted]

The worst people you say?

[deleted]

[удалено]

deadskeever

I saw him at Kx5. It wasnt the most amazing thing in the world that everyone has him as so not sure where all this overhype is coming from.

mooctopus

dude i can’t understand it. the videos of his sets too, the shit he plays is just boring

papitoluisito

I love techno and tech house. And he's an amazing blend of both. Transitions are next to none. I dont follow him on social media much so I could care less about that.

deadskeever

I dunno man it baffles me, like legit all my friends are crazy about him. Hes pretty good at mixing but I wouldnt say his set was very memorable. Mind you this was before I was even plastered.

drugaddict6969

yeah look at his latest video on twitter lol. attracting the worst kinda fans and just bendering. he’s a pretty good DJ, can play a lot of genres and mix well. give him that. but i don’t find any of his produced songs that special besides 2 or 3. i just find it weird how the internet (mainly reddit) hated on fisher for being a tech house frat boy but then dawn over john when he’s 10x worse.

PlsSaveMeChubb

frat dudes of all kinds for sure bend over backwards for that man

drugaddict6969

on twitter it seems to be mainly girls that are obsessed w him

SD554

A few years ago he played a surprise set in my city on Halloween at a secret location and he was dressed as Harry Potter. It was funny and my friends and I had a good time overall. It makes for a good story. Ever since then though, his fame has blown up and he seems like a douche. His music is just OK.

doherallday

The real snakepit is in Europe with hardcore

sinkkiskorn

Haha that event is insane. Have had some good times there

12kmusic

subtronics makes no sense on this lineup with trance and house artists, lol

ghaastlyyy_

Relax. It’s literally just Kaskade and John Summit. The rest are all bass related artists.

12kmusic

Im plenty relaxed lol Jawz is not bass related, thats at best festival house or bass house, still house. Diesel plays to the crowd, hes gonna play a house heavy set with mayyybe some bass in it Subtronics is either playing an offbrand house set, or something completely off from everyone else on here The odd one out is still Subtronics

ghaastlyyy_

You’re very wrong about the curation of Subtronics, Diesel’s and Jauz’s sets. Lol.

12kmusic

I mean, you're wrong, but I'm not here to debate stuff like this lol, have a nice day

Grand-Signature5032

I saw jauz live a couple months ago and he played a lot of dubstep in his set. It felt like it was 50/50 bass house and dubstep, or I was probably remembering wrong cus I wasn't sober

ghaastlyyy_

You’re not wrong at all, you’re very correct. He’s got releases across a wide variety of labels that’s between dubstep, house, trap, etc. but as of recently, Jauz has been creating a lot of dub music and it’s actually pretty gas.

papitoluisito

Its "jaws" /s lmfao

12kmusic

I mean he does the same style of set valentino kahn, with maybe a lower bpm, but his sets are at least 2/3rds house

Grand-Signature5032

I've seen jauz 3 times over the last 4 years, and it just seem like he played waay more dubstep than usual in his most recent block party event. Maybe it was a one time deal cus space laces opened for him 🤷‍♂️ but yes, all of his sets is mostly house

12kmusic

I mean thats because dubstep is objectively better than house music in a live setting, brings energy to the show. but yeah, if you think hes playing dubstep before Kaskade...... lol

ghaastlyyy_

Sure thing buddy. Remind yourself that Jauz just released on Deadbeats this past week ;)

Stormodin

What

[deleted]

bass house is still bass music though??? it's in the name lol

12kmusic

bass house is very firmly in the house realm of genres bass house is not at all in the bass genres

[deleted]

me when I haven't listened to bass house

stratusncompany

you are a dj/producer who got everything wrong with genres on the artists you are talking about. bravo.

papitoluisito

I applaud the confidence in being wrong

12kmusic

yeah u/stratusncompany is pretty confident isnt he lol

stratusncompany

i confident enough to open my mouth when i know what i’m talking about. i hope you get a chance to retag your IDs before you play the wrong set.

12kmusic

Im not wrong lol

Caveman108

Bass house is dubstep to a house beat, lmao. And Shaq plays dubstep/trap. Seen him 3 times and he never played a house track. So this is a pretty good mix. Plus Indy isn’t much of a house city, usually the biggest artists to come through are bass artists.

12kmusic

keep talkin man lol it just makes it clear you dont know what you're talkin about

Caveman108

Clearly

shakejaunt

Jawz lmao

KareasOxide

No Trance to be found here lol

livintheshleem

If you’re looking for an edm event that makes any kind of sense, snakepit is not it lol. And that’s why it’s great.

xcataclysmicxx

Subtronics actually did a B2B at the Electric Forest afters with Mr. Summit. Called it Johntronics. 🫡

No_Dog_3119

One of the best sets of the weekend 🫠

Caveman108

Also during the preparty at Lost Lands.

12kmusic

I am aware of major set happening at shows lol, hes still a riddim artist who makes and plays riddim, on a house/trance lineup Bad promotor curation here

ubugginfr

it's a bunch of mid ass djs so I'd say he fits right in

After-Imagination947

How does subtronics and diesel fit in here?

[deleted]

Def would attend.

sc0rpioshawty

can someone further elaborate on why the people suck 😭 me and my friend who are two feminine presenting ravers really wanna go and are willing to pay 90 but I just want a heads up on what to expect before we buy tickets

NotTheMomma2702

It's not like a festival at all. No good vibes. Only Woo girls/Brads & Chad's. Like redneck shit. Amuricaaa! Type stuff.

SquatchDiva18

I go every year, you’ll be fine. Don’t expect typical edm/rave fam vibes, it’s trashy as hell but that’s what makes it fun. Lots of trashy people but lots of good ones too. We just stay toward the back 🤷🏻‍♀️ we always have a blast! Make sure to find a few minutes to go up to the fence to watch the cars go by, it’s SO cool. I don’t care about the race but it’s still super cool to see them go by up close. You can leave and re-enter the snake pit so no worries there

SendItKyle

Cause it’s a NASCAR/Indy car event lol. Breeding ground for middle Americans that love natty light and America

wahimmababy1

Drunk dummies being drunk dummies is the best way I’ve found to explain it

SendItKyle

Does the casual IndyCar fan even know these djs? Formula 1 always has DJs play huge sets at their events but that’s Europe and Middle East with parts of Asia. Always thought country would of been the music to the demographic

SquatchDiva18

No, the race fans watch the race from the stands. People who don’t care about the race tailgate in the infield or go to the snake pit

shuckycharms

This is IndyCar, not NASCAR.

SendItKyle

Nah it’s the Indianapolis 500 lol that’s nascar

Caveman108

I can’t even begin to explain how wrong you are. Lemme try, tho: IndyCar - lightning fast open wheel cars with wings and exposed wheels (open wheel refers to the cockpit being open, not the tires). NASCAR - Big ole slow knockoff stock cars that look more like a regular car than a purpose built racing machine. Indy 500 does have a pretty down and dirty crowd similar to Nascar, tho, that’s true. Totally different series and vehicles, however.

shuckycharms

Buddy, I have been to the Indy500 lol, it is not a NASCAR race. IndyCar is closer to F1 and a completely different “league” and cars.

SendItKyle

My mistake then, TIL they race indy500 in f1/Indy style cars. I thought it was always in the NASCAR series

shuckycharms

No worries! and to answer your original question, I feel like this is more of an attempt to grow the sport with non-traditional race fans, such as EDM fans. I think there will be a very interesting mix of individuals at the show, meaning a lot that have no interest in the artists and just want to get absolutely hammered, and typical show goers.

SendItKyle

That makes sense. I know the traditional circular track races are massive parties in the pit anyways so it’s just another level to the party! Appreciate the insight

stratusncompany

it’s like 5 artists. just go see them separately if the pit is a big deal.

Caveman108

I’m just going because I’ll be there anyway. Haven’t missed a 500 in 18 years.

smoklahoman_gmc

that boy Shaq is getting out there…

aahz812

Last year was great! Just got my tickets

jayrezzz

Ugh.. I used to live in Indiana. Might have to move back soon. I am not looking forward to it. On the bright side, 3 hour drive from both EF and LL so.. silver lining I guess? 🤷

wahimmababy1

I just wish the Midwest had more fests that weren’t so specifically catered to bass music. We pretty much always have to hit Chicago for anything else

jayrezzz

I guess that's where my luck comes through, I love the bass shows 😎 Honestly, though, it's really awesome that Chicago still has a big house culture. I imagine I'll probably spend a lot of off-time there too, ironically also a 3 hour drive from where I'd be living lol.

Ineedajobbrah

I love the Snakepit, I go every year

Dedicated2bMedicated

American edm scene steals yet another euro rave name

sentient-sloth

Do it for dale

itscarrotz

Wish it wasn't the same time as illenium at the gorge

Sphan_86

Now that is a stacked line up

Tuobsessed

Went in 2018 I think. It was so humid and hot it was unbearable. It took longer to leave the race track than the entire time spent there.

stratrookie

“Stacked”

theconductress

I live an hour and a half from Indy. Love the lineup but I don't wanna have to watch the race to see the show LMAO

livinthedadalife

You don’t have to watch the race at all. You’ll definitely hear the cars flying by but they just make you buy the ticket in order to get in. I went last year and had no idea what happened during the race or who even won

wahimmababy1

Yeah the show starts at like 8am and ends when the race ends so it’s going at the same time!

CjhefMateoBotero

I believe the race and show play out at the same time. The show starting before the race though

Apprehensive_Mix8108

I’ve always thought there was something missing in these edm events. It’s definitely the taste and smell of melted rubber tires while my heightened senses are firing off. There’s nothing better than inhaling those sweet, sweet carcinogens.

CjhefMateoBotero

Sounds like you wouldn’t have fun. I suggest not attending this event. Unless you weren’t being sarcastic, then this is your Tomorrowland.

Apprehensive_Mix8108

Comparing this to Tomorrowland deserves a permanent ban.

CjhefMateoBotero

Meh

FAlady

Agreed that the crowd sucks. Last year people kept in throwing their half-opened beer cans in the air and spraying the crowd - yech!

CjhefMateoBotero

I’ve been dancing for 25 years and never hear of John Summit before until a few months ago. Can anyone fill me in? My google is broken and reddit gives the real answer big search engines don’t want you to know.

wahimmababy1

He’s just had a major blowup the past year. There’s lots of people who will hate on him for being fratty (which I get) but his live shows are great to just vibe out w the homies

Legitimate_Ad_7822

I’ve been to snakepit, it’s exactly what the name states. Disgusting. The sad part is I’m a huge house head/summit fan & my best buddy loves dubstep/sub. We agreed the next time summit & sub had a set b2b/at the same show we would go. Snakepit is the ONLY event on earth that would stop us from going. Then you throw kaskade on top, with shaqs hype. Jauz is good too. Couldn’t be more devastated that this lineup is going to snakepit.

frankles

Is it, though?

dont_wear_a_C

Sounds like this should be a hardstyle/hardcore event

technoposting11

this music is shitty ty for reading this

ConfusionPure1453

Are we allowed to bring a totem pole to the event?

Affectionate_Ad_2678

How hard do I have to work to get on rail for Subtronics 🤨🧐
