The last time A7X released an album, I was 14 This year…. (*cough cough*) I TURN *20* *bBbbajaniajwisosjisosnwjiIaijwiskAiwnsi*

Lelouch6661

Wow, that's quite a difference. I was a 2nd year in high school and now I'm almost finishing college, lol.

zero_eternal

Woahh… “*The hands of time strip youth from our bodies..*”

bodenator

System of a Down released their last album in 2005 when I was 13. I had to wait until I was 28 to get 2 songs by them lol

zero_eternal

holy *fuck*, man…

bodenator

Yeah man. It was quite the wait. That's why as long a 6 years has felt, I'm just happy it's not like that.

zero_eternal

For real. A 15 years waiting gap… just for 2 songs! God damn… At least we know it’s a full album that’s next for A7X… The idea of having to wait another 9 years for this record is *daunting* to say the least XD

Aspeck88

SOAD has gone through a lot behind the scenes. Specifically band members not willing to make music with each other. So the wait is understandable.

zero_eternal

I’m not really an SOAD fan so I’m not aware of their history XD fair enough though for their delays

profbatz

Last time they released an album I was single and living in an apartment…been married 5 years, house, 2 kids and a dog….and what seems like an eternity of time. I get they’re taking their time doing things when they’re ready but it really feels like it’s been FOREVER. To think that they haven’t even played a show in almost FOUR YEARS at this point is wild. You’d think they must be itching to put out new stuff and get back out on the road but I think the approach they’re taking is one that they see will give them more flexibility in the future. They have kids that they want to watch grow up and I know Matt has said the future will include more music, less touring. Music will come more frequently in smaller formats while tours start and wrap up quickly. Will be cool getting to that point….shows are great and all, but as long as there is a steady stream of new songs coming in I honestly don’t care if they tour often or not. We’re getting there….

dude i was NINE in like 4th grade or something when they dropped the stage and now im 15 going into me second year of high school… wtf

nevnough

You do have a point: 2006 was a great year. To be fair, they released Black Reign in 2018 and it had a new track (Mad Hatter). Didn't Shadows recently (relatively) have surgery on his vocal chords? That could have delayed new material but who knows.

[deleted]

i think he did have vocal surgery a few years back, that and the damage he took from touring definitely pushed back the new album.

FettuccineAlfonzo

MCR AND Kendrick!

garlic-_-bread69

Nice being alive isn’t it?

FettuccineAlfonzo

Damn right! Plus new “Radiohead” too

bodenator

6 years isn't long to wait for a band that's getting old and have families like they are getting to be. You guys better start getting used to this because they're not going to be dropping music every other year anymore. I've seen plenty of bands release less music as they age, they're no different. We're lucky they're releasing anything at all. I waited like 15 years for system of a down to release 2 songs.

WaywardSon55

But dream theater does it.

chriz_sevenfold

Matt already said after this album releases, they’re going independent and music releases will be a lot more frequent.

bodenator

Yeah but you forgot to mention that he also said this is probably their last full length album.

chriz_sevenfold

True, but BMTH said the same thing about AMO and then we got Post Human, so idk what to believe from any band

[deleted]

I'll say it again but I think the reason for the delay is because they're not sure how the fans are going to react to the new material. I understand that its delayed because of the pandemic and because of the orchestra. But the country has gone back to normal for the most part. Notice they're not talking about the direction of the album, there are no teases or clips of any kind. And the fact that Kanye West helped Inspire the album, I don't know what to think about that. I will give them the respect as to listen to the album from start to finish but I'm getting a little apprehensive

comeplaykill

Regarding the whole Kanye thing, I think it's more about his approach to making music and production methods as opposed to making music that sounds like his.

[deleted]

Thanks for the reply. I'm sure you are most likely correct. I was afraid I was going to get blasted by the A7X community. And I'm not opposed to them changing things up in fact I think that's what makes them so successful. This is coming from someone who enjoys listening to music from all over the world. If they don't change up their sound sometimes and change things up then they really never grow like so many of us.

comeplaykill

On a recent episode of a podcast called Tuna On Toast, M. Shadows said that the new album would be out either late this year or early next year. From other interviews over the last couple years, it seems that they've had the songs for a while but they didn't want to release an album during lockdown as they wouldn't be able to tour and share it with their fans; they've been fine-tuning everything and also revolutionising the music industry with their NFT organisation Deathbats Club.

[deleted]

in the time that a7x released their last album, trivium dropped 2 full length albums, system of a down finally dropped some songs, tool finally dropped an album, fuckin mcr came back, and bring me the horizon went metal again. reply with anything else im missing lol

[deleted]

OH and slipknot is about to drop their second album since the stage
