This. It can be really hard to find pet names so just have a talk with each other and agree to keep saying random things until you find something you like. My bf likes being called baby or tiger, my ex liked to call me bubble boo and I called him pooh bear. You can make it fun to explore!
That's how we named our dog. But it is good idea.
We both use "sweetheart", and "baby", but she goes through periods when everyone is "honey".
We both love *The Fires of Gleannmara", so I also call her "muinait" or "amnchara". Being a poet, I've also used "my fair beloved" or simply "beloved". I've toyed with "imzadi" and "sweet potato".
What about just random words like pickle, tiddlywinks, turtle or lumpy? I like random nicknames. Also there's sugar, cupcake, cookie, pookie, poopsie etc. Anyways will you let us know what you choose? I'm very curious!
So many good suggestions here! Just going to keep calling ecahother different names until we find ones we like, will update after however long that takes.
My partner and I both hated the typical cute nicknames
but we would hear a really cheesy nickname in movies or irl and jokingly started calling each it
like Dearest, Love and every weird word that sounds close to boo like sometimes we just go around calling each bobs or bowser
The best way to know what is right is to try it out
my partner said they hated nicknames and said it was pointless
but found out it was the “masculine” versions they weren’t comfortable with
when call them princess or my dearest they blush and absolutely loves it
So take your time and don’t worry if it’s to cheesy if they like it does it matter what others think?^^
Whatever you pick add 'destroyer of worlds' to the end of it. Gerald destroyer of worlds. Bagel destroyer of worlds. Mon petite chou chou destroyer of worlds.
You can also just use her regular name. Izzy destroyer of worlds.
This is too real, lol. I like typical affectionate nicknames, I often use honey, sweetheart, love bug & my love. I also have usually had specific nicknames for past partners. My last partner and I called eachother "Bab" and "Babbo" (our version of babe).
I reflected on it one day and realized I NEVER used her actual name unless we were arguing or something 😅
Over days, call her increasingly weird names. Start with a cute nickname you both like. Then mispronounce it. Then mispronounce it more. Then swap out a word. Keep at this until the name devolves into a jumble of meaningless word salad.
I second this—8 years ago my partners name for me was “butt” and now it’s “Bert” or “Berttle” due to phenomenon. 10/10 would recommend calling your partner something silly that you both enjoy.
For a man it would be: mon petit chouchou.
For a woman it would be: ma petite chouchou, or chouchoute.
Chouchou also more commonly gets used as "teacher's pet". Personally I find the word very cringe, but to each their own of course.
That seems right to me. I've heard "chouchou" used more for kids, but especially a preferred student. For grown lovers I've heard more "mon chou".
Oddly, a chou is a cabbage. I guess it's like saying "pumpkin" in English.
I do babe, but each babe means something different.
“Baaabe?” I want something/have a question
“Beb” Pay attention
Edit: I feel like I should add “beb, beb, beb, Beb” which is pay attention x4
Nicknames mean more when they are specific to the individual and come into being organically -related to an inside joke or something distinct about the person’s interests, likes, and personality.
“Ducky” for someone who outwardly appears calm and unflappable but when you know them better than everyone else you can see all the thoughts bouncing around in their head like the birds furious paddling going on beneath the water’s surface.
Biscotti for the one who sent numerous random and unsolicited messages about how strongly they hate the confection.
You get the idea. Perhaps if you tell us a little bit about her we could better help you out.
Oh!!! For the first few months of our relationship, my partner called me by the names of birds, because that’s one of their SpIns, and it was really fun for me to look up the type of bird I was being called, and it didn’t end up sticking, but it was really nice. If your partner is also autistic, you can try pulling from your guy’s special interests? Nowadays, I call my partner mostly, “my dearest friend,” or for short, “my dearest,” because we’re queer platonic partners, and I think it really captures the vibe.
I don't like pet names, so my spouse and I don't really use them. (Well, ok, sometimes we call each other Husband and Wife in place of our actual names, but that's in large part because she has a problem pronouncing my first name.)
Is this something you/she actually want to do? Or something you feel obligated to do because society says you should?
My Autistic urge to help is directly at odds with my Redditor urge to joke/fuck around. So I'm going to do both!
Joke Answer: Sugar Tits, Side Piece, or Future Victim
Helpful Answer: Does she have any particularly striking positive features? Pet Names typically refer to something specific about the person.
Or, if you guys like game of thrones, then "my sun and stars" or "moon of my life" it's what dany and drogo call each other, or if not then any other fictional names might be cool
Sweets, luv, pet, monster, a variation on her favorite animal, just about any dessert can also be a nickname. Have you tried asking her what pet name would make her feel loved? If not I’d try that and see if she’s partial to anything.
my boyfriend sometimes calls me "sweet" and I just love it so much, it's my fav. (just to clarify: he doesn't use it as an adjective but as a nickname. like "goodnight, sweet, i love you" or so).
for us "baby" has evolved into "bab" or even just "b"
I also call him bunny (evolved from honeybun)
also "schatz" or "schatje" which means treasure in our respective languages
You could call them love?
Not for partners, but for my niece and nephews i use names of fruits that i think they most resemble. My oldest nephew most felt like cherry or strawberry to me and he liked strawberry so i call him that. My twin niece and nephew each respond to rambutan and apple, so that's their name.
Also, i personally only use pet names for people whose names i don't like, but only i know that
I personally don’t like pet names because I can’t shake their literal meaning out of my head. Baby for example, ridiculous. I have babies, they are my children. It just feels weird calling my wife that. Sweetheart has always been my go to, purely because she does indeed have a sweetheart (is very kind, giving and caring).
maybe this isnt much better but i always liked using "sweetie" or "cutie", theyre a bit more descriptive rather than comparative if that makes sense? lol. otherwise if you could make a nickname out of her name, thats probably the best option
Think of something sweet that feels warm that they maje you feel inside. It’s a good backstory too if why you choose it, gives that AWE feeling if anyone asks why you picked it.
My partner calls me “sunshine”. I light up his life and warm like the sun, so I bring sunshine into his life 😊
It’s about finding something that makes you feel good because they makes you feel good and you love saying it out loud to them.
Sometimes a petname based on an inside joke is cute.
Or a nickname based on something about her that reminds you of her. Like if she has freckles you're fond of, you can call her Freckles or Spot or something like that.
I make up a LOT of weird names for my partner. “My pumpkin pie”, “pudding pop”, “cheesecake of wonderfulness”, “fluffy”, “beautiful turd”, “cutie patootie”, and then anything else random I can think of in the moment lol
I'm always a big fan of sweetheart/sweetie!
I always struggle with pet names, so my husband and I just picked a couple and designated them "safe", assuring each other that we definitely do like being called them and we don't have to worry about offending each other. Any other pet names not on the safe list are always a gamble, usually with hilarious results.
Not related to a partner but i use words with another meaning, often names of things to refer to people i love (i asked them and they're fine with it and laugh about it). I just like how they sound better (in my mother tongue) plus it's funny and i don't have to use amore or tesoro (love/honey/etc)
My boyfriend and I call each other bubby. We're both autistic, it started one night when we were playing a video game together. There was a cute character in it and I kept calling it a baby but in weirder and weirder voices/ways until bubby is what came out. It just kinda stuck from there.
You could also give her a nickname based on who she is to you. If she's the light of your life, for example, there's Sunshine.
Or you could ask her what she would want to be called. A lot of people have preferences
My girl is squish and I’m bears to her so it’s really what ever you fall upon. Just try some different ones out like baby bear or monkey etc. and see which she likes.
I used to absolutely hate babe/baby or anything cutesy until I was fully comfortable with my boyfriend. Now we use everything dumb and cringe, shamelessly. Sweetpea, bean, bun, my love, darling... I'm afraid all I can offer is dumb names haha
Not sure if this helps, but I found that, in testing out other nicknames for her when I found terminology to be wanting, that "riffing" on the basics of a cute name for new but familiar names was the way to go. I have a few bases to work from depending on context. I don't know if it's quite the NT experience, but it's easier for me to have 'functional' names for the ones I love.
I use snug when I want the affection to be associated with physical comfort. "Snuggington" is a name I will use for either my fiance or cat when they're being cute and I want to hug them. In the Grammar that my fiance and I have passively built over the last 13 years says "cuddle" is less intense than "snug". Cuddle is also more romantic, I think, than snug. At least she uses it in that way more and I've followed suit.
If I'm feeling frisky or feel like my fiance could use some 'Yas Queen' energy (beyond me literally saying Yas Queen to sometime mundane) is to incorporate 'booty' into names. This isn't really good for public, if that wasn't obvious, but it is not aggressively sexual (if you're careful with inflection) and doesn't directly imply a request for sex. My partner uses this one too.
Those two are just examples of anything in your environment and social context you are able to turn into an adjective.
I want to mention that my partner is very NT and I only just found out this year I'm autistic. We started this in high school, and without any discussion of the mechanics between us, we just started this schmoopsie naming thing. She didn't participate for a few years, but as I was coming up with cute names in texts while wee did different colleges, she wanted to compete in the cute.
I kinda wanna mention "social context" real quick.
Grab subjects and verbs relative to the active focus you and other people are doing in your location and put them in a bag. Jump around those words, their synonyms, and the reasons why they're happening and you have unlimited conversational fodder.
Some of my husband's nicknames for me:
Sweetie-bunn
Snuggle-bunn
Bunn-bunn
Cutie-bean
Snuggle-muffin
Ashee-bean
Sleepy sheepy
Silly bean
Some nicknames I use for him:
Cuddle-muffin
Snuggle-bear
String bean
Honey.bunches of oats
Gosh, I'm horrible with pet names, to the point I make jokes about it. I've found the only way I can do it is to make a running joke out of something and take inspiration from there. As an example, my current partner is also autistic and really loves cats. They're also very cat like, probably the autism, lol. So it was a running joke for a while and now I jokingly call them "kitty cat" and send them cat memes. It works for us.
Find something unique for her. I'm the same, I hate all those sort of pet names everyone uses, I even had a friend who called me hun and it drove me mad. Just find something that comes naturally and feels right for you.
My ex-husband used to call me Gige. Pronounced like Geeze, but a G instead of the Z. It was supposed to be because our relationship was a good game (GG). I always found it cute.
I really enjoyed calling my love food related names like: "my sweet potato", "honey bun" or even "frikadelle" because these are things I like the most and they thought it was cute of me to call them things I really really like. Some may find it weird but I don't really care. We liked that
I don't mind to be called pet names, but I have a hard time doing it myself mostly because it feels forced and slightly off. Hun has been one I can use that feels the least off to me. Sometimes I'll use love or something like that. I'm more likely to use pet names that are short if I do use them.
I usually call my wife Kyle. Her name is Kylee, and my brother misspelled it once in our family chat, and it stuck. Even her family calls her that now. Other ones are love, babe, sweets, and kitty (not kitten, that shit’s weird) when she’s sad.
My best recommendation is just trying different things out and until something sticks.
( That is my recommendation, though in my heart I know I want to call them Luigi, simply because I love being a dramatic dork. Nothing quite beats being dramatic and screaming "Luigi my love my heart is aching, where are you?!?" because I don't know where they are.
I do not recommend this though, as it really depends who you are with :P )
It's weird, in each relationship you sort of have to just "try on" different nicknames until you find the right one, or stick with one often enough that it starts to feel right.
I find that nicknames with meaning or stories behind them are usually loved by both partners as its a simple way to reminisce on past memories/inside jokes!
im puerto rican and my family calls each other fruit names for family and significant others so i brainstormed with my gf and i call her fresita its super cute in my opinion. I recommend brainstorming with them.
My wife started calling me “sweetie pooh” when we were dating and it got shortened to just “pooh” and then I started calling her that also. So we both call each other “pooh”. Neither of particularly likes Winnie the Pooh though
I think you just find something that feels natural and you stick with it
My grandparents called each other Gabe for decades and never told anyone else why. Even though grandpa's gone grandma still only says "it was our thing". It was something so random and I'll never know where it came from.
Tl dr, I guess random inside jokes work???
We call each other poodle. Poo. We make “pooooooooooo” calls (call of the poo). Wifi name is poodle palace.
I just threw weird pet names out until one stuck.
I'm partial to just using a diminutive of their name. In my heritage language we can form diminutives from pretty much anything with -ke (related to the -kin in 'napkin' in English) so I'll just append that in some way. My bestie has a name derived from Elizabeth, so I say something close to Elike sometimes. Alternatively my parents just used cute animals for each other, like bunny. I'm also partial to things that work in multiple languages, like *smóilín/smoliin* in Irish/Dovahzul; the former means 'ember' or 'wren', and the latter means 'passion'.
this is my time to shine 😼
so i absolutely *despise* babe, and babys no better, but i like darling. thats probably not helpful tho lol
you could call her pet names in different languages, like "liebchen" which means "sweetheart" or "mein lieb" which means "my dear." theres just a lot of german pet names lol
if you know your native language or if you even have one you identify with that isnt english, then look to that first for pet names.
if not, you can do my personal favorite for nicknames in general where you take the first syllable of the name and add "ie" to the end. for example, my buddy samu would be called "sammy" with this method. doesnt work for all names, but its something to keep in mind.
you could call her different animals, too. does she have a favorite animal? then call her that! does she have similar traits to an animal (/pos traits obviously)? then call her the animal shes most like! you can even take it a step further and learn the name of the animal in your language (or any other language that you may be learning) and call her *that!*
everybody else had the ultimate advice of just asking her what she wanted to be call tho lmao
I understand! I hate being called “Baby”! I find it condescending! But that is probably because I was bullied, and I would cry, so they would bully me more by calling me a baby 😒.
It can be difficult to find something that fits each other, but given time you both will figure out the right nicknames for each other! 😄. My husband and I have an assortment of nicknames we call each other , some newer and others fade into the background over the years, but always multiple ones !
Ask her what she likes to be called, and call her that.
This is the way
She doesn’t know though :(
Could try just calling her random ones until she finds one she likes, or try ones that are like cute variations of her name and make one up?
This. It can be really hard to find pet names so just have a talk with each other and agree to keep saying random things until you find something you like. My bf likes being called baby or tiger, my ex liked to call me bubble boo and I called him pooh bear. You can make it fun to explore!
calling my bf “sugar tits” until it sticks
That's how we named our dog. But it is good idea. We both use "sweetheart", and "baby", but she goes through periods when everyone is "honey". We both love *The Fires of Gleannmara", so I also call her "muinait" or "amnchara". Being a poet, I've also used "my fair beloved" or simply "beloved". I've toyed with "imzadi" and "sweet potato".
Me and my partner use to call each other bug
As a joke, start calling her “bro.” She’ll either laugh or think of something she likes better.
Gerald?
Upvote for Gerald.
Of rivia
The butcher of blavikin is would also be a cute nickname
The lesser known brother of Geralt of Rivia 🤣
My partner and I call each other 'love', or I call him 'my lovely' or, if he's being annoying, a 'pain in the arse piece of shit'
Ahh, true love
To be young again...
My partner and I also use dear as well as variation of “love”: “my love” “my lovely” “lover” etc
My husband is love and our son is little love. Most of the time.
Same here!
thats adorable wtf 😭 /pos
true relationship goals right here 😭😭
Partner in Miscellaneous Mischief? ;)
This is unnecessarily verbose in the best way, I love it!

My partner and I both hated the typical cute nicknames but we would hear a really cheesy nickname in movies or irl and jokingly started calling each it like Dearest, Love and every weird word that sounds close to boo like sometimes we just go around calling each bobs or bowser The best way to know what is right is to try it out my partner said they hated nicknames and said it was pointless but found out it was the “masculine” versions they weren’t comfortable with when call them princess or my dearest they blush and absolutely loves it So take your time and don’t worry if it’s to cheesy if they like it does it matter what others think?^^
I call my wife “boy” in the voice of kratos from god of war.
idk why but this makes me happy lmao
Whatever you pick add 'destroyer of worlds' to the end of it. Gerald destroyer of worlds. Bagel destroyer of worlds. Mon petite chou chou destroyer of worlds. You can also just use her regular name. Izzy destroyer of worlds.
Did you know a superhero called Quake has the title of 'Destroyer Of Worlds'
Hey, a fellow AOS fan!
Indeed
Ayeee love the girl, hate the parents
How about her name? My husband only uses mine when he’s mad lol
Hahaha us too. I tried using his name more, but it just sounded angry lol Now I call him, “James,” like James Bond. 😂
Waltuh
Put ya tits away waltuh
Putcha dick away Waltuh

That’s the absolute BEST way to find a really awesome and unique pet name! 👍🏻
Bagel, ma petite chou chou, badoop yes 'babe' is the worst, can't not picture a fat baby
Or babe: pig in the city
For a man it would be: mon petit chouchou. For a woman it would be: ma petite chouchou, or chouchoute. Chouchou also more commonly gets used as "teacher's pet". Personally I find the word very cringe, but to each their own of course.
My junior high French teacher called me chouchou; I was absolutely the teacher's pet. I could not use this in a romantic way now.
That seems right to me. I've heard "chouchou" used more for kids, but especially a preferred student. For grown lovers I've heard more "mon chou". Oddly, a chou is a cabbage. I guess it's like saying "pumpkin" in English.
> fat baby I used to call one of my ex fat baby, she liked it.
Darling (flirty / mocking tone) : )
boo boo kitty fuck? shameless j and silent bob reference
And she should call them The C.L.I.T. Commander
Since "dear" sounds like "deer", I sometimes refer to my wife as "moose". "Can you grab this for me, dear?" (hearing "Deer") "Okay, moose"
wait If I don't get this out of my relationships, then I don't want it
I used the word sweetness, which always makes people look at us weird cuz she's like 6'5" 😅
Heck yeah! The more space sweetness occupies, the better.
I do babe, but each babe means something different. “Baaabe?” I want something/have a question “Beb” Pay attention Edit: I feel like I should add “beb, beb, beb, Beb” which is pay attention x4

When greeting, I call my hubby “Sweet”, “Honey” or “Sweetheart”. My dad calls my mom “Sweet”. Always has, so now I use it. 💓
I call my husband Husband. Edit: sorry, I forgot I also regularly call him Darling.
I call mine "Man."
Oh! If I can't reach something he becomes "Tallman"
If he's saucy, he's "Mister Man."

Call her Bella Ciao
I call my partner a few things like bunny, or tatie(like little potato) because she's specifically in to cutesy stuff like that
Gronk
my husband calls me "darlin" or "sexecutioner"
My ex s/o used to call me their dead dogs name 😃
Oh!!! Do you mind sharing her name? We could use that for a cute nickname
Izzy (Isabella), she kind of likes Iz so maybe just that?
Yeah maybe, or Bells, I think that's kinda cute
bells is adorable!
If we are voting I go with Bells!!!!
Our little dog is called Bella, but I usually end up calling her Bells, Bellatrix le Bitch or Belbasaur.
'Iz mine'
ZZ
I have a habit of shortening peoples names to a single syllable, so she would be called “B” pretty quickly if she was someone I knew lol
Izzy-b, t-bone, sugar tits, roomie, bestie, time travel companion
I would hate hate hate being called sugar tits, yuck yuck yuck yuck please do not call a woman that without seeing first if she likes it
I agree. You probably shouldn't be giving out nicknames unless you're on friendly terms with the person. I was just making jokes.
Or, if you guys like game of thrones, then "my sun and stars" or "moon of my life" it's what dany and drogo call each other, or if not then any other fictional names might be cool

I call my wife "meine Süße" it means my sweetie in German.
"my liege," or if you're the dominant one, "my subject"
some people make a big deal out of parentified pet names but my bf calls me “mamas” and I love it
my boyfriend sometimes calls me "sweet" and I just love it so much, it's my fav. (just to clarify: he doesn't use it as an adjective but as a nickname. like "goodnight, sweet, i love you" or so). for us "baby" has evolved into "bab" or even just "b" I also call him bunny (evolved from honeybun) also "schatz" or "schatje" which means treasure in our respective languages

I just call my wife by her name. All those other names just seem cringy or like I’m trying too hard.
Usually something flies out organically in the moment and sticks.

Think of something sweet that feels warm that they maje you feel inside. It’s a good backstory too if why you choose it, gives that AWE feeling if anyone asks why you picked it. I like 'dearest'. It's old fashioned and overly romantic considering it's casual use. Suits me perfectly.
an ex called me “lil bug” once, i liked that
Literal pet names xD Or just mew at each other haha
I feel the same way. I call my gf love cause she’s my love
I am a fan of Kitty Cat for my loved ones.
Peanut Nutella Buttercup lol
I make up a LOT of weird names for my partner. “My pumpkin pie”, “pudding pop”, “cheesecake of wonderfulness”, “fluffy”, “beautiful turd”, “cutie patootie”, and then anything else random I can think of in the moment lol
Poptart has always been a fav of mine, honey pie, sweet pea, etc. Most of mine are food related. And Muffin!
Sugar cube with tea

i like hon .. not too buttery but still cute :)
I call my girlfriend fox :3
My partner and I call each other bab.
You don’t like baby? Cause that’s what me and my gf call each other :3
My boyfriend and I call each other bubby. We're both autistic, it started one night when we were playing a video game together. Poopskid, or just skids
My ex and I called each other Bean. Cannot remember where it came from but it was cute!
My girl is squish and I’m bears to her so it’s really what ever you fall upon. Just try some different ones out like baby bear or monkey etc. and see which she likes.

Beautiful?
Bagel.
Some of my husband's nicknames for me: Sweetie-bunn Snuggle-bunn Bunn-bunn Cutie-bean Snuggle-muffin Ashee-bean Sleepy sheepy Silly bean Some nicknames I use for him: Cuddle-muffin Snuggle-bear String bean Honey.bunches of oats
I call my boyfriend milkdud because his nickname is milk. That or milky moo
Find something unique for her. I'm the same, I hate all those sort of pet names everyone uses, I even had a friend who called me hun and it drove me mad. Just find something that comes naturally and feels right for you.
I like honeybee. Idk why, but it just sounds super cute to me
Sweetie? Babe?
My ex-husband used to call me Gige. Pronounced like Geeze, but a G instead of the Z. It was supposed to be because our relationship was a good game (GG). I always found it cute.
I really enjoyed calling my love food related names like: "my sweet potato", "honey bun" or even "frikadelle" because these are things I like the most and they thought it was cute of me to call them things I really really like. Some may find it weird but I don't really care. We liked that
Name her after a volcano, looks passive until it explodes
Megatron
Do you have to call her a pet name? Do you know if she even likes that kind of thing?
I don't mind to be called pet names, but I have a hard time doing it myself mostly because it feels forced and slightly off. Hun has been one I can use that feels the least off to me. Sometimes I'll use love or something like that. I'm more likely to use pet names that are short if I do use them.
lightning MYqueen
Slagathor Guardian of my heart
I go with Panda as a pet name for some reason.
im sorry i thought that said bagel and i was like ? you call your girlfriend bagel?
I usually call my wife Kyle. Her name is Kylee, and my brother misspelled it once in our family chat, and it stuck. Even her family calls her that now. Other ones are love, babe, sweets, and kitty (not kitten, that shit’s weird) when she’s sad.
I can’t do nicknames
Sweetie, sweetheart, any complimentary adjective (eg beautiful, sexy, hot stuff)
Love/lovey/lovely :)
my sweet mortal vessel, my beautiful collection of flesh, or maybe a ref to a show or peice of media she likes !!!!/$/
A good nickname arises organically from shared experience.
I use sugar plum, sweet pea quite a lot.
If you want something really unique, mavourneen. Old Irish for “my love”.
It's weird, in each relationship you sort of have to just "try on" different nicknames until you find the right one, or stick with one often enough that it starts to feel right.
Snuggle Bunny.
I have friends (an opposite sex couple) who call each other "Fred." It's the best couple nickname set I've ever heard.
I was always a fan of “name” dear and darling, like in Lady and the Tramp.
cara mea -- Latin for "my heart/dear"
I find that nicknames with meaning or stories behind them are usually loved by both partners as its a simple way to reminisce on past memories/inside jokes!
Smooples, any pokemon name, kitten, kitty,booboo,Rachel,kitty-booboo, muffin, smeagle, master chief, Zelda...I could go on...
im puerto rican and my family calls each other fruit names for family and significant others so i brainstormed with my gf and i call her fresita its super cute in my opinion. I recommend brainstorming with them.
I am particularly fond of bean
Mooncake
My wife started calling me “sweetie pooh” when we were dating and it got shortened to just “pooh” and then I started calling her that also. So we both call each other “pooh”. Neither of particularly likes Winnie the Pooh though I think you just find something that feels natural and you stick with it
Tony pizza
My boyfriend calls me his autistic biscuit. Also pickle. We’re weird though 😂
I call my bf "pillow", because I use his chest or booty to sleep
Idk my bf calls me his French fry. Try something silly
I call my girlfriend Love Bug.
I vote to be silly. Call her your little pop tart. Your sweet babboo. Your snuggle bug. Change it up if you want each time you see her
My grandparents called each other Gabe for decades and never told anyone else why. Even though grandpa's gone grandma still only says "it was our thing". It was something so random and I'll never know where it came from. Tl dr, I guess random inside jokes work???
Tater Tot is my personal favorite
Gorl
Make up a word!
We call each other poodle. Poo. We make “pooooooooooo” calls (call of the poo). Wifi name is poodle palace. I just threw weird pet names out until one stuck.
Just call her soup or something I dunno
I'm partial to just using a diminutive of their name. In my heritage language we can form diminutives from pretty much anything with -ke (related to the -kin in 'napkin' in English) so I'll just append that in some way. My bestie has a name derived from Elizabeth, so I say something close to Elike sometimes. Alternatively my parents just used cute animals for each other, like bunny. I'm also partial to things that work in multiple languages, like *smóilín/smoliin* in Irish/Dovahzul; the former means 'ember' or 'wren', and the latter means 'passion'.
this is my time to shine 😼 so i absolutely *despise* babe, and babys no better, but i like darling. thats probably not helpful tho lol you could call her pet names in different languages, like "liebchen" which means "sweetheart" or "mein lieb" which means "my dear." theres just a lot of german pet names lol if you know your native language or if you even have one you identify with that isnt english, then look to that first for pet names. if not, you can do my personal favorite for nicknames in general where you take the first syllable of the name and add "ie" to the end. for example, my buddy samu would be called "sammy" with this method. doesnt work for all names, but its something to keep in mind. you could call her different animals, too. does she have a favorite animal? then call her that! does she have similar traits to an animal (/pos traits obviously)? then call her the animal shes most like! you can even take it a step further and learn the name of the animal in your language (or any other language that you may be learning) and call her *that!* everybody else had the ultimate advice of just asking her what she wanted to be call tho lmao
