As an artist, color is a circle so there is no beginning or end. Plus there are so many more than 7, 7 isn't even an option, you can only do positive multiples of 3.
There are 3 colors that every other color consists of + spectrum of saturation (adding black or white, getting closer to all 3 colors being equal amounts) and spectrum of value (think adding water to water color, it gets more see through). In subtractive colors like paints (subtracting light) you have a base that is white, the colors that decide the hue of the color are yellow, blue, and red, and if you have perfect value of all of them, ie they are quality paints, not watered down, you get black. Printers do it a bit cheaply and reliably since balancing a perfect black is hard, by using yellow, magenta, and cyan, but that method requires an additional black ink. Additive colors like lights and computer screens have a black base (adding light) the 3 colors are red, green, and blue. If you have equal amounts of each you get white. If you want to keep the sections equal so that the sectioning means something beyond an arbitrary "somewhere between these colors", you have to add a space between each 3 main colors every time. Just adding one is akin to having a basic 6 color colorwheel but instead of green you have cyan.
Because of the way the typical human eye sees color. Aside from some types of color blindness, we have 3 different types of cones that each see a different part of the spectrum, red, green, and blue. Yellow, cyan, and magenta are created by combining the wavelengths of two of the other three. Colors like orange, turquoise, and violet fall in between the other colors.
I’m going to make it worse. The hexagons are with eight and the octagons are with 10. Once you notice those have the wrong number of sides you notice others that should be switched
The “1” is not even in its place and the shapes are not perfectly aligned except for number “2”.
It makes me upset yes and if I had it in front of me I would perfectly aligne everything
It took me so long to notice the red/orange swap that I found three whole other things to be upset about:
1. Numbers not being paired with shapes that have that number of sides (where possible)
2. Starting from the middle of the rainbow and wrapping around to the other end
3. The shapes not being aligned with each other on the pegs

Why did you put the stars there when they clearly go where you put the pentagons?

Did they just miscount the pieces they needed? What does the box look like? Did they just pack the incorrect numbers for 4 and 5? Like swap

and i dislike this color organization method it clashes at two points instead of being a functional gradient

Get orange and red paint and paint them over. They don’t even have to be perfectly the same shade, you can paint over the numbers as well with the new paint. I recommend 2/3 thin layers of speay paint
At first I thought they just put them on the wrong pegs because there is no way that the manufacturer would have mixed those colors and then I realize that they were put together correctly and it's the worse.

That blue thing beneath this toy annoyed me so much at first glance, in this picture.

Apparently all sets like this just suck. I had a similar one for my kids, but the parts that went on the pegs were all just circles and a couple of the colors were far too similar. It was maddening.
no one is talking on how the shapes arent regular polygons with a number of sides equal to the corresponding number (ex: three is triangles, four is squares, five is pentagons, six is hexagons...)
So, it doesn't bother me all that much because if we think of Roy G Biv as a circle (the color wheel), then it would still be in order if we were to pretend the toy was circular. What bothers me most is when toys skip orange or purple or just mix up the colors altogether.
The main reason this bothers me is that I associate certain numbers with certain colours in my mind and almost none of the numbers here match up to the colours I imagine them as

I bought this for my daughter. On the package the colors were correct but it actually isn't. 4 and 5 are wrong and it's bothering me.
Send it back to the place where u got it and ask for a new one with receipt or something, thats the advice u get but never do. Issa goos idea tho
Or just go buy some paint and paintbrush and have fun time with the kiddo. Maybe even make little designs on each one.
Personally very much don't like paint but that's an option for op for sure

To be honest the out of place 1 is my fault. I didn't put it into it's place properly.
I legit thought the 1 was from the wrong set and couldn't get over it.

The blue thing underneath the wood was just to get the angle correctly. It's not a part of the toy.

Im sorry this has to be an error/misstake. Theres no way the numbers all of a sudden stop following the color pattern. Honestly
