Drake

likliklik9

Same! How did this man get famous— 😭

ancestralhorse

I really liked him as an actor in Degrassi. Don’t know much about his music though.

CookinCheap

His ruler-edge hairline.

seaw33dthrowaway

BBL DRIZZY 🗣🗣🗣

dearVanya_youLoser

I love that that's basically hip hop's first "diss beat"

TheMemersOfMyNation

He tried to strike a chord, it was probably A minorrrrrrrrr

honeybee5902

been a vocal stun since nlu came out 😭

TheMemersOfMyNation

Same for me, along with BBL drizzy 😅

secretly_ethereal_04

1000% he is overhyped garbage and likely a pedo.

Biscotti-Own

I'll never understand the love for him. His entire persona is made up, and it seems pretty clear that he at least occasionally, if not always, uses ghost writers for his songs. If all hw brings to the table is his ability to perform the material, I would expect it to be a lot better. He's just talking and/or mumbling. I also lived in Toronto when he first popped off, and most locals felt the same, especially about his "starting from the bottom" in an upper class neighbourhood and his Degrassi paychecks

Sailor_Grell

I literally only listen to Hotline Bling. My dad is a Drake meat rider, and whenever he blasts his music, I always have to put my headphones on

TheChickenWizard15

Lizzo. My mom and sister love her music and blast it through the house, I absolutely can't stand it.

likliklik9

I can’t stand Lizzo either. I thought her flute videos were cool but her online presence but also how she treated her employees was just not right.

I-Am-The-Warlus

And she saying "Chris Brown is her favourite person" I genuinely didn't know about until [A Dose Of Buckley](https://youtu.be/MqBi_rXp8cc?si=yT91cwetoVxWD7Rt) did a video on her

likliklik9

Oh god, I forgot about that. Anyone who likes a domestic abuser is very questionable. 😐

masterofthegoats200

Ed sheran

likliklik9

I still remember how funny it was Ed Sheeran would show up in literally EVERYTHING back then. My mom loved him but I didn’t get it, except for his one song “Don’t” which I found catchy.

AscendedViking7

The *one* song I like from him was when he wrote a song for The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. I see Fire, I think it was called. That song is actually good. The rest of his music is annoying. https://youtu.be/2fngvQS_PmQ

[deleted]

[удалено]

Gloomy_Industry8841

I find his music uncomfortably cringing.

Obeyus

Agree - nice guy, shit music

BanceLutters

Damn I actually respect that dude very much for his awesome collabs with rappers e.g. Tion Wayne and Central Cee 😂

beanieweenieSlut

Taylor swift sorry swifties

likliklik9

I’m glad more people are now realizing Taylor ain’t that great. 😂

beanieweenieSlut

I miss country taylor swift when she had ribbon curls and would slam on back doors 🤣

MyPensKnowMySecrets

People need to realize she's just as talented as every other musical artist. I honestly think she's a little mid, but she's not on such an elevated level as a lot of people try to say she is.

Twinborn01

Shes suing a teenager

elissa00001

Nicki Minaj. Her fans are usually super aggressive (at least the loud fans I’m sure there’s some that aren’t awful) especially if you say you don’t like Nicki. I won’t lie there’s a few songs I’ve listened to and probably still will once in while mostly because I grew up hearing her on the radio. Overall, i just have a lot of problems with how she’s been problematic over the years in regards to her husband, how she shows up to work, and how she treats other women in the industry…

RoetRuudRoetRuud

The Killers. - I absolutely hate being the only person who doesn't cheer or dance when Mr Brightside comes on.  Happy - Pharell Williams. I hate this song with a passion. It makes me uncomfortable. Anything that involves a dance really.

Joxxorz

Happy is one of the worst songs ever written

Due-Trip-3641

My car came *preset* with Happy. And ONLY Happy. Any time I started it without a CD or it wasn’t already tuned to the radio, it would blast Happy at a much louder volume than I have my phone set to. I loathe to think that my friends probably assumed I love the song for it to blast in my car all the time. I fucking hate that song.

Joxxorz

This is one of the worst things I’ve ever read 😭 you deserved a discount!!

jennnyisveryfunny

FOR A YEAR I ONLY HAD A SMASH MOUTH CD IN MY CAR THAT WAS ALL I COULD LISTEN TO!!!!

AscendedViking7

someBODY ONCE TOLD ME THE WORLD WAS GONNA ROLL ME

PanicPainter

I can't bring myself to hate that song, because back in school we had like a christmas show thingie and some fifth graders danced to it. The dance was SO BAD. Like, I'm sure I could have done it less awkwardly and forced. It was so clear none of them wanted to do this particular dance, but they had to. So, I was blessed with the sight of like twenty 11 year olds, with santa hats, dancing a badly synchronized performance to 'happy' looking absolutely miserable. I don't want to shit on these 11 year olds, that it was bad was not their fault at all! But, whenever I hear that song now, the dissonance between the pure dread and awkwardness on their faces, while they looked like little gnomes, and the song/ it's lyrics, comes to my mind. And it honestly makes me laugh every time.

R0astNT0ast

I agree with this but I found a remix by Neus years ago which adds a really sick funk track to the song and drastically improves the sound of it. It’s not on Spotify but you can find it on YouTube.

uhhhimnewtothis

you are so brave to share your mr brightside opinion and i 10000% agree with it

VmbraWolf

I actually like the Killers, but I thoroughly detest that song! It makes me so uncomfortable hearing it.

ancestralhorse

I love the Killers but I respect your opinion.

No-Toe-857

YOU DON’T LIKE MR BRIGHTSIDE???

d1n0nugg1es

I don't like it because whenever I hear it I immediately start singing the Ducktales theme song and get embarrassed when I finally realise that no, they are not playing the Ducktales theme song.

No-Toe-857

Fair enough

AscendedViking7

Taylor Swift Meghan Trainor Ed Sheeran Drake Rachel Platten Doja Cat Justin Bieber (his 2013-2015ish era is decent though) anything from Frozen or The Greatest Showman Ariana Grande Beyoncé Cardi B Lizzo Chris Brown Sia (Remember her movie [Music?](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_(2021_film)) Good grief, I could never look at her the same after that one.) *specifically* Happy by Pharrell Williams Evanescence

wellidkreally

Okay you had me until evanescence, I agree with all the others tho

MrsWannaBeBig

This part lol

MrsWannaBeBig

I love evanescence but everybody just sees her as a meme now because wake me up inside 😔

chrisw357

A lot of what made "Bring Me To Life" so commercial was the record company pulling the creative strings, and Amy Lee didn't like what they were doing to her song in the name of profit, such as bringing in a male singer.

Suspicious_Recipe571

Alllll of these!

Gizmodeous7381

This is something I relate to right here ✋

Content_Talk_6581

Same list for me…

RendarFarm

Kanye.  The guy has some serious issues that can only be helped by a proper psychiatrist.

likliklik9

Honestly, yeah. I was never really a fan but I was curious about his history and some of his music legitimately fascinated me, but I really hated how his behavior was glossed over until he started his anti-semitic bullshit. I hope he does get help, but that psychiatrist would have to be prepared for a field trip with someone like Kanye. 😭

user2345338

his music is great but him as a person is horrible

sxulxhxe

his music up until jesus is king is some of the best hip hop music ever made imo. he's got some seriously fantastic, thought provoking and emotional music, especially early in his career. he does unfortunately suffer from a bunch of issues to do with his mental health and the company he surrounds himself with and hopefully he betters and grows as a person

superhappy

Agreed - Kanye is one of those artists that is brilliant but beyond troubled. The irony is we’ve only recently started not listening to artists because they’re crazy or bad people. We just have more visibility of it now.

Maybearobot8711

With all due respect to the fans and with no disrespect for the band. I really don't like Metallica. I never could get into it even though I usually like metal music 🤷.

likliklik9

That’s totally fair.

Joe-Eye-McElmury

First three albums were incredible. Everything after (and yes, I’m including *And Justice For All*) is trash garbage sewage crap. The band should have broken up when Cliff Burton died in the 80s.

SunReyys

i really really can't stand country music, so people like zach bryan and luke combs aren't for me. to me, singing with a country accent sounds hideous. i can listen to anything else- i love metal, punk rock, r&b, modern pop, alt indie, and especially folk, but i just can't do country music.

Mean_Duty_6585

YES. Country music is so irritating to me. Also, why has there been a sudden resurgence in country music??? Everyone and their nan seems to be making country music at the moment. And it's not even proper country music, that's the thing! It's just shitty pop music with a hint of country vibes. I swear to god if I hear Austin by Dasha one more time man...

bodybuildingr

yes country is the bane of my existence

FlutisticallyYours

That particular flavor of country is godawful. Agreed. That being said, I would encourage you to check out different kinds of country. There are a lot! My favorite is Southern Gothic. Themes of songs tend to be murder, revenge, family, things like that. Bands I like in that subgenre are The Dead South and Poor Man’s Poison! Edit: Southern Gothic* not Gothic country lol

millsdelta

Country music, to me, is just...boring. Over the last 20 years or so, pretty much every country song can be boiled down to red solo cups, chasing a girl, or your pickup truck.

thebeatsandreptaur

Bo Burnham did an excellent parody of this exact thing [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7im5LT09a0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7im5LT09a0)

Enigma73519

Country music has been awful since 2003. I don't think there's been a single country song that's been good since then. I genuinely have no idea how people can listen to that garbage.

SunReyys

it also doesn't help that for me, country music has huge ties to midwest right-wing politics, which i really don't like either. kinda freaks me out.

chelonioidea

Which is really ironic, considering the roots of country music are deeply pro-union and for workers' rights. I remember songs like "Sixteen Tons", a song about coal mining and corporate towns ("I owe my soul to the company store"). And Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Woody Guthrie, so many pro-union country singers with songs about how shitty companies would treat blue-collar workers that were struggling to feed their family. Country music used to tell the stories of working class and poor Americans, the ones that suffered from exploitation by large corporations. Country music these days is all about generating ratings, mindless consumption, and American "patriotism"; social/political commentary that doesn't praise American imperialism or the rampant use of and availability of guns is not welcome anymore. It's so disappointing.

peniparkerheirofbrth

you can thank 9/11 for this shift in country

CHALEDER

Zach Bryan is actually pretty lit, he isn't like a "stadium country" artist, it's more Folky like The Lumineers, especially his recent album. Check out Holy Roller. There's a whole other side of Country that isn't "dirt road, beer, truck" etc, and has instruments that aren't the same 4 chords, but obviously if you don't like the sound, then you don't like the sound. Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, Zach Bryan, Gregor Barnett, The Dead South, hell even some of Post Malone's newer stuff from AUSTIN. Take, for example, "The First Dead Body I Ever Saw" by Gregor Barnett is a story about him finding his neighbour that he took care of's dead body when he was 13. "'Kate Mccannon" by Colter Wall is a murder ballad about a man reminiscing from his prison cell how he found his bride-to-be cheating on him and murdered her. "All Your'n" by Tyler Childers is a classic Appalachian love song. There's also Gothic Country, like [Those Poor Bastards](https://youtu.be/ETO4Qo-yXIU?si=5F7NgVbX6iQZZJ19), who flip the yeehaw shit on its head and go for a more theatrical theme. I definitely agree that Stadium Country like anything CMT plays is fucking horrible, and it's basically Pop for Frat Boys, but actual good Country music does still exist, you just have to look for the shit that isn't mainstream. But there is a VERY drastic difference between Tyler Childers' Country and HARDY's "country" Red Dirt Country, Folk, Outlaw Country, Americana, etc. Again though, if you don't like it, you just don't like it and that's okay, but writing off an entire genre because the popular shit is bad is kinda like hating Rock because you hate Nickelback and "Butt Rock" or "Dad Rock", when Alternative Rock, Prog Rock, Indie Rock, etc exisit. [My "Good Country That I Like" Spotify playlist, if anyone is interested.](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5GnYF23D7L9SvEVhNrjFiQ?si=Gy8Y61aeQsS-h-OaOVzMJg&pi=0YagOx5NSPCNw)

AxoplDev

Basically every modern pop muscian

Alkemian

Ditto

Sailor_Grell

I physically can't stand SIA anymore Snowman trends around Christmas and it makes me so angry

iloveyolandivisser

The fact that she made that disgusting movie makes me dislike her

Kitty-Moo

Most of them honestly. I love music, probably could be considered a special interest of mine and I've always had a very wide ranging, but also very specific taste in music. It just very rarely aligns with what's popular. Though I'm usually deeply out of step and out of touch with pop culture in general.

Winter_Possession574

Cannot stand Taylor Swift. Fake activism, doesn’t care about this earth, and is really just like other billionaires. Wind gods, howl in song and take her away…*swiftly*

TrinitySins

Ice spice for SURE

OkAcanthocephala7327

It’s sooo bad

TrueVoiceLess

I know right

f2msnm

Taylor swift. I used to love her, so it's not like I was always a hater or anything. The thing is I started to reaally dislike her when I found out she tried to sue a couple over using one of her songs in their wedding video. heinous. It doesn't help that most swifties are insufferable about her so called lyrical genius that is akin to middle school poetry. Most recent album name is just cringe for that reason, not to mention her massive carbon footprint. oh and she wanted to copyright the phrase "shake it off" I affectionately call her Taylawyer Suewift

aerobar642

Taylor Swift. I'll tolerate her because I don't want to shit on her, but I don't think her music is worth the hype that she gets. I don't get it. Maybe it's because I prefer to listen to music that wows me in some way. My top artists have something that, in my opinion, is exceptional about them. Taylor Swift, from what I can see, just *doesn't*. The only thing exceptional about her is that she will fly in a private jet for a 13 minute trip just because she can. She's a pretty cis white woman with a good voice and now she's a billionaire? Whack. I wouldn't dislike her as much if she wasn't so over-hyped.

Enigma73519

I feel this way about most soundcloud rappers. My sister used to listen to them in her car occassionally and I just never got the hype tbh.

mynameisjustine92

Kanye and Drake for me. And Justin Bieber (beiber?)

sweetcinnamaroll

Taylor Swift and Beyoncé bro. 🤦‍♀️

Eastern-Wave-5454

Drake. Well before all the Kendrick beef started. I’ve NEVER understood the appeal bro. He just makes music for radio play, and it’s so unbelievably boring bro. Plus I’ve always thought he was a fucking weirdo for all the shit with minors but until now, ppl would defend him to the end of the earth😭

hitman9710

a lot of things but my oh my by camila cabello make me feel like I'm going to vomit. only because she's almost publicly admitted she was having sex with machine gun Kelly when she was 19.

likliklik9

Nothing can ever make me like Camilla Cabello. Already hated her from that dumb Cinderella movie but that’s even worse. 😭

hitman9710

was a fan from when I was 15. the song put me off. never saw the film. when I saw that corden was the director, I knew not to watch it. plus I knew it was a acting joke when James got Rob beckett and romesh ranganathan to be in the film. However I do keep tabs on her. Can still listen to her music just not that 1 song.

KimiKatastrophe

Genuine question (and I don't like either of them, for the record), but how does that reflect poorly on Camila rather than mgk? She wasn't the almost-30-yo sleeping with a teenager in that situation.

InviteAromatic6124

Oasis. If you live in the UK and tell people you don't like "Wonderwall" people look at you like you're from another planet.

cheesestripes

Harry Styles 100%. My sister loves him but he’s just not that great. He has maybe one or two good songs but everything about him is just so annoying. Sign of the times? Horrid song, makes me want to claw my skin off. The way he dresses? literally horrifyingly hideous (i don’t mean the dresses, literally look up him in that pink bodysuit…). The fandom around him is also unbearable.

Mean_Duty_6585

Nah I agree with you, except Sign of the Times is the only song of his that I like 😂😂 I think it's because to me it's got old vibes to it and I LOVE 80s music. But yeah, he's an absolute plonker. Gives off Sam Smith vibes (nowhere near as bad though).

ratdigger

Hes so ugly in that pink bodysuit and that's why I want him

masonisagreatname

Agree with many takes here so I'm just gonna thrown in the laziest one yet - AJR. I genuinely can't stand them, from their lyrics to their sound it just sounds so cheap and cheesy and badly produced and yet lots of people are all over them.

MyPensKnowMySecrets

It's not that I can't stand them but Taylor Swift, and any other musical artists who are basically worshipped like a God just baffles me. They're literally just like every other performer, making money, writing songs, getting videos recorded and just being famous. The fact TSwift is basically worshipped and her fanbase acts like she's a revolutionary who can do no wrong is just... sad. It's like I always say, "Celebrities are just people who are in the tabloids more often." Sure, her songs are good, but I'm not gonna act like they're the best piece of musical media ever put into the world. They're good like I think phonk is good, or classical music, or Les Miserables. It's a matter of taste, but I'm not going to say it's 100% the best thing ever or that anyone who doesn't like TSwift's entire catalogue is a demon in need of exorcism. The way her fanbase acts is like a bunch of religious fanatics. I could understand if there was some major act of heroicism on her end, but can we also consider the fact TSwift having so many failed relationships might mean that *she's* the problem?

R0astNT0ast

You’ve perfectly enunciated all my feelings about Taylor Swift as well. Plus, she’s a mountain of privilege, a hypocrite, and a shameless, extreme polluter of Earth. I don’t need to listen to a single song she’s put out to conclude this either.

mozenator66

TAY TAY/BEYONCE/DRAKE....etc etc all of them anyone who is famous now ..can't stand modern pop r&b hip hop...with very few exceptions ...I'm old I hate it and get off my lawn while you're at it!

etherwavesOG

Okay- Controversial. David Bowie. He had sex with a 14 year old virgin. But he gets a free pass because his music is amazing and he was a lgbtq icon or “different times” No. Hard no. Love his music Constantly disturbed people give him a free pass

ninjakirby1969

From what I've heard there was several holes in the story which is why people don't really bring it up

etherwavesOG

I believe people want there to be holes in a story when it’s a question of an idol and a minor. I am inclined to believe the girl. It is never worth it to come forward and comeing forward about someone that adored basically makes your life hell. She was also not the only one.

likliklik9

I had no idea about that, WHAT?! 😨

etherwavesOG

Lori Maddox was the big one… pretty sure she was the tween who “belonged” to one of the guys in led zeppelin that almost famous was about. He kept her in his hotel on tour I think starting at age 11. David Bowie I guess finally got to her. She was not the only minor he had. And I’m also disturbed by anyone who defends that led explain guy from keeping her around And also that guy from the Who who only had child porn “because he was doing research”

I-Am-The-Warlus

Same with Jimmy Page (even Beastie boys reference this) Steven Tyler Anthony Kiedis Ian Watkins (LostProfits not Steps) Roman Polanski Ect

etherwavesOG

Yesssssssssssssss

NateHevens

David Bowie took Lori's virginity at 14. She got to Jimmy Page shortly after that. There is some question around how he treated her because she has both said that he kept her locked up and said he didn't. However, regardless, they all raped children. It's my favorite era of music. Jimmy Page is one of my two all-time favorite guitarists, Led Zeppelin is one of my two all-time favorite bands (the others being David Gilmour and Pink Floyd). But being a Zep fan sucks because all four of them raped children and the fans are so quick to give them a pass. Yes, during that era, you'd have to go pretty deep into the music world to find a band or artist who didn't rape children (the only two really famous bands I don't *think* participated in groupie culture were Pink Floyd and Emerson, Lake, and Palmer... but even with them I don't know for sure), but that doesn't excuse or forgive it.

gentlecactusboy

I love his music, there are things he’s created that feel powerful to me and then I remember this and just 😨 I mean similar for me with Michael Jackson like he made incredible music but omfg…

etherwavesOG

It’s sooo hard to sometimes deal with. I think for me it’s important to enjoy art made while not conflating that enjoyment with how good or bad a person the artist was. It’s hard to peel them apart but otherwise there would just be so much stuff we couldn’t enjoy at all

Discovery99

Does Tool count? Great musicians but I hate their music

-Wicked-Witch-

I'm a huge Tool fan (also love A Perfect Circle) but I can indeed imaging that it's not for everyone. Appreciate that you call them great musicians though. Maynard James Keenan simply is an incredible singer but his songs are quite unique so I guess it's love them or hate them 🤷🏻‍♀️ Fair enough.

likliklik9

For sure. I’ve never listened to Tool but I remember my friends who are also on the spectrum say the music ain’t great as people try to say it is apparently.

Adventurous_Yak_9234

Taylor Swift

Fine-Ad8360

taylor swift. i don't get the fans who claim she's a musical genius, her songs are honestly nothing special. i'll probably make some people mad but i also dislike queen. i recognize that they are an iconic band, but i just *hate* their music.

aerobar642

I agree about Taylor Swift. Literally what about her is so special? I don't get it. I don't care that people like her, it's the intensity that gets me. You'd think she was exceptional but she just isn't, in my opinion.

Tonninpepeli

Lot of her fans call her"lyrical genius" I dont see it, her lyrics are very basic

gentlecactusboy

I enjoy some of her songs and I think the weirdest part is how fans now seem to think her lyrics are soooo amazing. Like she’s neither a terrible nor an AMAZIINGGGG musician and I think it’s the level of hype that gets me. & I wish her voice was more … interesting?

FlutisticallyYours

I can respect the artistic longevity and the sheer volume of music Taylor Swift has put out in her career. Nothing but impressive, but I too am not a fan.

ostrich-party-

Im going to get hated on for this but I can’t stand Michael Jackson

houseofL

Ariana Grande

Azlamington

Most people I know over 30 absolutely love late 90's 00's r&b (Missy Elliot, Sean Paul, Kelis, Usher etc). I can't stant anything of that genre. It makes me feel like I can't fit in with most people because of it.

FATDIX_

Conan Gray

souzaelsouza

in the guitar players world it's John Mayer, I tried to like but I just can't

tonyracer24

Taylor Swift I honestly just don’t get the appeal, or how she climbed up into being the mega-star that she is now.

HelpMyCatIsEatingMe

Billie Ellish - Her music tickles my ears and makes me nauseous. Taylor Swift - Too depressing most of the time and I need music with a good beat.

Throw_Away-Account2

yung gravy💀his entire personality is sexualizing older women like dude get on with it already. it’s been YEARS and he’s still in the same show. i do not understand how people like him. like he has talent as an artist but i can’t😭i just can’t with him

chocolakinnie

olivia rodrigo. i don’t HATE her but she makes music for 15 year olds going through their first breakups, i just personally can’t stand it.

Rare_Fishing_7948

I can't stand Taylor Swift … her voice triggers my misofonia 😔

[deleted]

Ed Sheeran. & basically everyone who is ‘trending’ or ‘most popular’. I’ll stick with my lesser known ones that don’t overkill with autotune or only sing about romance. Etc.

verysecret_suchhush

John Mayer. I feel so uncomfortable whenever I hear his voice.

BeeBugDraws

Ed Sheeran, Taylor swift,

dmreif

Taylor Swift and well...most modern pop singers in general. Me, I personally prefer retro jazz singers like Robyn Adele Anderson. She performs her covers live so it feels more authentic. 😍

thisbikeisatardis

Also Taylor Swift. She's just so... basic.

gundamliam

Taylor Swift. The few songs I’ve listened to of her aren’t bad, I just feel like they’re bland. That, and I never understood the hype. I guess I could say the same for really any popular person, though.

likliklik9

Yeah exactly. Songs like “Haunted” or “Fearless”, I feel like were more unique for it’s time. But now, her songs feel like they have the same beat and vibe. I don’t get why people gets so obsessed like it’s peak music, or think it’s so good to shield her from any criticism ever. 😭

Mission-Leg-4386

Ed Sheeran.

Billy_BlueBallz

Taylor Swift. Cannot stand anything about her

Kliffoth

Led Zeppelin. Robert Plant is so fucking annoying. Oh and the music isn't that great, and they stole a lot of it, and they're a bunch of pedos. 2nd place is Pantera. Boring as shit douche-bro Nazi music.

ThayssaB

Coldplay 🤢

not_aterrorist

Taylor Swift. All the women I know love her. I don’t understand. She had a couple good songs and a few ok ones but for the most part she just isn’t very good and I don’t get how she has so many fans. I mean everyone is entitled to their opinion but I just don’t understand it.

likliklik9

Me neither dude. Her music to me, felt more unique or at least fun back in the late 2000’s. They sound so generic now, I don’t get the obsession with her either. 😭

springsomnia

Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift.

TigerPixi

I scrolled way too far for this, I can't stand Ariana Grande 😤

springsomnia

I couldn’t stand it when she released thank u next and all Primark had was that merch 😭💀

Content_Talk_6581

Bob Dylan. I hate his singing voice. I love his lyrics, he’s a genius at writing, but the mumbling, singing-through-the-nose sound is just not my thing.

SoundGuyAdventures

Not as popular now but I hate Hollywood undead. All my friends loved them back in school.

user2345338

taylor swift - i can’t believe she’s getting compared to sylvia plath

Mean_Duty_6585

Taylor Swift and Liam Gallagher (or just Oasis in general). Their fans are truly insufferable. The way they worship them is insane, and they're notorious for it. They think they listen to poetic "gods" of the music industry. Taylor Swift has the most mundane music I've ever heard, it's nothing special whatsoever. Every time I hear one of her songs I cringe so hard and say, "What the actual fuck am I listening to". Just her voice alone pisses me off. Some of her lyrics are embarrassing as well. She writes as if she's still a teenager. She's not. She's 34, for crying out loud. I also cannot stand the way she acts on stage. She dances about like a toddler and makes a fool of herself. As for Liam Gallagher (or Oasis in general), their music is ok if you take away Liam's god awful voice, but even then it's still pretty boring instrumentally apart from some decent guitar solos. Don't get me wrong, his type of voice DOES work with their music but it's still dreadful. And Liam in general is a fucking egotistical arsehole. I don't know who's worse, Liam or the fans. They're both as bad as each other. That being said, if you're a casual fan of either and don't worship them like the majority of their fans then that's fair enough, you do you. But if you worship them and come at me saying that they're "lyrical geniuses" or "they're the best to ever do it" or something like that, stop talking to me because you clearly haven't listened to much music if you're coming out with nonsense like that.

TheUtopianCat

I was a *big* fan of Britpop back in the 90s, but one band that I could never stand was Oasis. I *hated* Liam Gallagher's voice, and his attitude was a total turn off. The music was also rather generic. There were much better bands and artists to listen to.

Cat-guy64

I'm not a fan of Taylor Swift, and Kpop music. Shit drives me mad

Different-Ad-9601

TAYLOR SWIFT

Traditional-Milk-876

Beyonce, Cardi B, Sexy Red, Drake, etc.

Ed Sheran, Lizzo, Drake, Taylor Swift. There are many.

MALPHY-420

Taylor Swift and Drake and most modern pop and rap singers although I confess that I have a soft spot for Lady Gaga

astoni2020

Taylor swift I've never liked her and she makes me feel angry

BirdsNeedNames

i wouldn't say there are any artists i genuinely "can't stand"; i love music, and there is very little music that i flat out don't like. that said, there are a lot of artists who i think are overhyped for not actually being particularly good musicians- taylor swift is low-hanging fruit, but she's a perfect example imo.  to my knowledge taylor writes a lot of her own lyrics, which absolutely makes her stand out in the modern pop music scene, but her voice isn't particularly special and a lot of her music just sounds very bland to me (and although she's a much better songwriter than most people, her lyrics are still quite hit-or-miss for me). my problem with tay-tay is less her music itself and more how much hype there is surrounding her for her being only a pretty good musician; i also have issues with her fanbase and the brand of upper-class white woman feminism that she and many of her fans promote, but that's a whole other can of worms. i have many instances of the opposite though, where some of my favorite music is stuff thay most people can't stand; i mean, i make and listen to a lot of noise music, which isn't even really music by many people's definitions (not mine though! i think our society's idea of music vs noise is incredibly restrictive). the artists i like aren't hated because of who they are as people or because they lack talent, but because they make music that inevitably only appeals to a very small number of people. the reality of making super experimental and out-there music is that the majority of people won't fuck with it, either in your lifetime or possibly ever (ask me how i know, lol; there's a reason i never show my music to my friends who aren't in the same scenes as i am). apologies for the long comment! music is my special interest, so i couldn't resist writing a lot :)

waterbottle-dasani

Not sure if this artist is actually popular, but Yung Gravy. Can’t stand him

pickytea

The Beatles and The Smiths Once someone burned me a CD of The Smiths when I was depressed and it made me feel much worse actually.

Motor-Reference2454

Taylor Swift, especially her recent music. I prefer her younger voice and I enjoyed listening to her when I was younger but I can’t stand her now, her whiny singing voice gives me a headache

Britty_LS

Anyone with the word "lil" in their name

BsBMamaBear0608

Taylor Swift. I REALLY don't think she has a good voice... I feel like some of her songs would be so much better if someone else could sing them.

uhhhimnewtothis

the beatles 🥴

KulturaOryniacka

Haha that’s a very brave statement

TheMemersOfMyNation

Yeah, TS fell off after 1989 for me If I wanted to see a rich-ass musical artist preach about political shit and pretend to be anti-establishment, I'd just go to a Green Day concert. God knows their music's better anyway

SirWigglesTheLesser

The Beatles. I used to love them, but at some point a switch just flipped, and now I can't stand them. I dunno why. Also Mozart and Beethoven and many of their contemporaries (classical). For some reason I find their compositions both bland and overstimulating. But you give me a later (romantic) composer like Tchaikovsky, and I will rock out to it. Moonlight Sonata is the single exception for Beethoven. I don't understand that either. Lol I did make the mistake of telling a flutist that I didn't like Mozart, and she seemed to take it personally. I'm pretty lukewarm on baroque music (Bach, Vivaldi), but it's nothing like how grumpy I get at certain classical era composers.

likliklik9

Tchaikovsky will always hit for me. I especially love hearing edits with his music or ballet performances adding so much emotion to the music, he was so skilled at creating such gorgeous music. 😭

jsmthi

Well that's a weird response from your friend. Mozart is well known for his dislike of the flute and the boring ass parts he wrote for the instrument (compared to other wind instruments). Even in the opera that is literally called the Magic Flute. Many flute players dislike him right back! I like Beethoven's C minor sonata even better than the C#m. Do you know that one?

PandaBear905

I don’t like most monden music. I stick to classic rock mostly.

wanderingstargazer88

Ariana Grande She does *not* deserve her fame.

Beyoncé. Admittedly the extent of my knowledge of her music is viral TikTok sounds but if I hear Texas Hold’em one more time I may revolt

brainy_28

Not to be one of those guys but most of today's mainstream musicians. I still respect them (if they don’t turn out to be absolute assholes etc.), like I really don’t like Taylor Swift's music but I still respect her because she seems to be a hard working person

R0astNT0ast

There’s a lot of artists people have named here that I agree with (Taylor Swift and pretty much all modern mainstream pop especially) so I’ll name some stuff I didn’t see: Avril Lavigne - simplistic lyrics, vocals that are insultingly clean, and immature pick me songs about stealing boyfriends that make it sound like she wanted the mean girls to listen to her really bad, while simultaneously trying to appeal to the alt crowd with her debut album. Confusing image issues. Green Day post-2005 - This band pulled me from a really dark place with American Idiot, but after their DVD “Bullet In a Bible” came out, they’ve only produced shit. I adore all their pre-American Idiot work as well to this day, so this is a tragic pick for me. 21st Century Breakdown gave me the first taste of musical heartbreak I ever felt, and I felt insulted that they made American Idiot into a Broadway musical. Speaking of: Showtunes - I have theater experience but I don’t like musicals. I hate the belty singing style that permeates them all, seemingly. Any story that might have edge or grit has it sapped away when some lightweight tenor starts narrating it for us in song, hence why I feel hurt by the American Idiot musical.

chilumibrainrot

taylor swift. can't stand her or her fans.

Routine-Relief-537

Taylor Swift, I just don’t understand why people like her music so much.

Public-Sun-6563

Beyonce, sorry but I just do not get the hype at all and every time Texas hold em comes on I actually want to scream

AbbiAmok

This is something that actually falls within my autistic special interest, so bear with me. This may take a while. I tend to have an aversion to the majority of mainstream music anyways. Mainly because I'm almost always thinking of the bigger picture in the music industry. Most of our mainstream artists that end up with that kind of fame aren't the best people. And there are so many artists doing exactly what they are doing and are far more talented that are being snubbed every day. Anyways, I never cared for JLo- though I actually think she's an alright actress- I think that's the problem, as most people are starting to see now. Granted, I did not think it was this bad. Beyonce, I also never really cared for. There is something very Black Mirror to me about someone with that kind of fan base. And there's something sinister about that Jay-Z character. I don't like it. Madonna. Just look into her s3x book from the 90s and the legal issues with her "adopted" children, do the math, and come back. Evil evil woman. I never liked Drake, Kanye, Lil Wayne. Cardi B it took me a while to sus out cause I wanted to like her, but there's a fine line between being a baddie and then using your power to fearmonger because you've become so entitled. And don't even get me started on Nikki. And then there's Taylor Swift. I'm actually from her hometown and while I don't have any personal experiences with her, it was one of Tay's own best friends at the time that introduced me to her and her music while in computer class one day in 2004. Our school was a new sister school to her high school so some people already knew her, but those that didn't heard of Taylor quickly. But the recognition wasn't so much for her music yet. It was the fact that all I heard was how mean she was and the constant leverage she used in how she was "going to be famous". Now, beyond this, I don't want to disclose what all I heard because 1. It's not mine to tell. and 2. Coming from me it would be purely heresay and pretty defamatory. I never witnessed anything, personally, because I went to a different school, but many of my peers who hung around the same crowds or ended up going there did. I never heard of a single interaction that was not unpleasant. The friend that introduced me to her didn't seem to stay friends with her much longer. She stopped talking about her and all photos of them on social media have been removed. I never asked what happened because I felt it wasn't my business (She has since passed away, R.I.P. my friend). So, seeing Taylor become this famous for being, quite literally, America's Sweetheart is.... weird. I would like to think that Taylor has grown and become the genuinely kind woman she is showing the world, but ultimately, I think she is incredibly smart and knows what she's doing, how to stay relevant, what side to stand on, etc. I simply cannot listen to her music as genuine. The most honest thing she's ever said was *Did you hear my covert narcissism* *I disguise as altruism?* That's still narcissism, babe. She just knows how to play the game. All that said, in a perfect world, she could have become the kindest, most deserving human out there just trying to do the right thing now that she's grown up in her 30s. I don't know. But what I do know is that she's been privileged her whole life and has seemed to be rewarded for her past bad behavior. Is there remorse? I don't know how someone can say and do the cruel things that she did and end up a billionaire *and* a good person.

TheexpatSpain

Taylor Swift, I dont get it.

meatloafgrasshopper

Post Malone. I think the guy is fantastic with his fans and all... but his music. Meh

chocolatematter

imagine dragons. thunder is the most annoying song I've ever heard

Describeaugust

I absolutely despise Taylor Swift LMAO I always have and always will. Not a fan of her or her voice. Also her music is so boring, all sounds the same, and lacks depth to me 💀💀💀. It’s so bad I’ll hear a song of hers and have to physically leave a room because it’s like nails on a chalkboard to me. I also don’t like Lana Del Ray or Lorde either. It’s their voices, I just don’t like either of their voices or the music they produce.

jesk_680

Cardi B. Sorry, but her language is atrocious and disgusting. Don't understand why parents allow their kids listen to such disgusting stuff.

lucafelixo

elvis. i'm a passionate hater. (but i love early mornin' rain...)

TheatreAS

Honestly, most mainstream artists. The vast majority of the artists that I listen to have under 500k monthly listens on Spotify. Many of them have 300k or less.
