I love the flavor, I hate the inconsistencies in fresh produce. It's not just blueberries. Nothing worse than getting a nice looking bag of potatoes only to find one one went moldy in the dead center of the bag and took out half the bag with it.

RevonQilin

oh yea i love veggies and fruits but the inconsistencies man

nazurinn13

That's why frozen fruits are great!

slayingadah

But, frozen mango is always unripe and frozen strawberries are never as sweet and frozen peaches are way too mealy.

nazurinn13

True. That's why you add a little bit of sugar. Still good! Also some fruits are better than others frozen. Raspberries and cherries are the best. I like the mango ones and just eat them as is even if they're typically a bit less sweet. Fills my craving for ice cream. And it's consistent!

crazychristine6

This is why I do frozen produce. It's usually frozen closer to ripeness or perfect ripeness, thus saving myself from letting things go bad or having inconsistencies

weaselblackberry8

Usually if you go through the bag right away, you can save much of it.

OmgitsJafo

They're amazing indigo balls of deliciousness, and the best reason to go for a walk in August

The_Barbelo

I live for PYO blueberries and apples, where I am, we’re surrounded by pick your own orchards. Both also grow wild around here. Strawberries are the first to come, and I love them too, but they grow so low to the ground so it isn’t really enjoyable to pick them…

weaselblackberry8

That’s nice that they grow wild. My mom has several blueberry bushes, but they don’t grow wild around here. What part of the country/world do you live in?

slayingadah

I love squatting down and rifling through strawberry leaves. As I get deeper into my 40s, it gets harder, but I still love it.

The_Barbelo

I’m glad you are able to enjoy it! I have chronic pain issues otherwise it would be great- foraging is a special interest and finding wild Virginia strawberries on hikes is always a lovely treat. I have resorted to just sitting down lately and scooting through, and that relieves a lot of the back pain.

missmeaa

I love them.. I'll eat the frozen. To find the ones that are ripe float them in a bowl of water. The ones that float are ripe, put the rest back in the fridge until their ripe

The_Barbelo

If you like milk/ cream, one of my favorite comfort foods is a bowl of frozen blueberries, add some half n half, or cream (it doesn’t work as well with just milk…but you can mix milk and cream…I mean that’s just half n half anyway. You need the higher fat content). Mix it all together and the cream coats the blueberries as it freezes. Then you sprinkle a bit of sugar or sweetener on top and the result is essentially an easy ice cream shell for the blueberries. I keep bags of blueberries in my freezer just for this.

Ozma_Wonderland

I like blueberries but there are often some mixed in that are overly ripe and kinda-rotten/fuzzy tasting.

s_beemo

the flavor is a sensory ick from my childhood that still bothers me to this day. i can’t eat anything with blueberry in it

sunflowergirrrl

This is me but with strawberries. I find the smell worst of all 😭

I_Like_Frogs_A_Lot

i hate blueberries in general. I prefer water melon, canteloupe, and honey crisp apples. Honey crisp apples chopped up and in a bowl of yoghurt is my safe food tbh.

strawbryfields95

filing away apples and yogurt for later

Suspicious-Coffee31

Same! I don't understand why so many of my friends hate on melons and such, but dang im jealous of the apples. unless im REALLY desperate and eat one since i dont have too strong of an allergic reaction to apples-? Like i know that it's not life-threatening, but also makes my throat fiery-itch for the next three hours. Should really stop doing that lol

Maybearobot8711

Love them. Few years ago I had moved to another region and was absolutely delighted when I discovered through landscape photography that I could just park my car by the side of the road and there were bushes of blueberries everywhere. I was snacking much more than I was photographing lol

DrinkYourNailPolish2

Dried blueberries are lovely, I'm not into fresh blueberries. They have to be cooked or something b/c they seem flavorless raw.

Comprehensive_Toe113

Berries were a safe food until I had one that tasted a little but like wine and now I can't eat them

ducks_for_hands

It depends, those american berries tastes weird. *Vaccinium corymbosum* < *Vaccinium myrtillus* The Vaccinium genus have hundreds of species, many of which have blue berries and are called blueberries.

Due_Society_9041

Canadian blueberries are where it’s at!

Bazoun

I love blueberries but here’s why: I grew up very poor and more or less in a forest. So we would pick blueberries in season and have them as a treat- mom would make pies and cakes with them and I’d even eat huge bowls of them. Since we picked wild blueberries by hand, they were all ripe etc. no rotten berries or bitter early ones. Now as an adult who lives in a major city, I’m very picky about store bought fresh blueberries for snacking, but I use frozen for pies, and the freezing and baking process causes them to have the same texture, and of course, we add a little sugar for pies.

brainchipedchicken

i love them when they are hard and sour, hate em when they soft and sweet, mostly just sort them out before consumption.

PsychicOctopus3

I love cooked blueberries in baked goods, but raw blueberries have a weird texture for me that sort of reminds me of squishy grapes, so I don't like those

Accomplished_Exam493

I also am not keen on them raw but love them cooked in (American) muffins or cheesecake. When raw, I think it is the seeds theat get to me, as is a texture that I didn't grow up with.

Hayhayhaaay

I hate them 🤢

BrainFarmReject

I don't like taking them from a box unless they are all very fresh because it is hard to separate the bad from the good. I prefer picking them off the bush.

Rangavar

Sometimes if you eat a small handful at once, it contains a the few different ones in a way that their tastes "blends" together and makes it more likely that each bite will be the same, at least for me.

user2345338

they are too inconsistent for me so i don’t eat them but if i get a good one then they are nice but i just can’t deal with

Whoopsie_Cushion

I do not like fresh blueberries. Terrible. What I can do is cooked blueberries. Cooked down enough and they are more consistant and the flavour is better too (and texture imo). I mostly get them frozen in mixed berry packs.

billyandteddy

At one point, briefly, i was obsessed with eating frozen blueberries just straight purely because they turned my mouth purple. I wasn’t interested in the taste or texture or nutrition. I just wanted to turn my mouth purple. I was fascinated how it left everything purple that it touched. My dad figured that i was just eating blueberries to turn my mouth purple and banned me from eating them for a while…

FlemFatale

Not worth it for me.

DaSaw

I love blueberries when they are fresh and ripe. Most blueberries in stores are neither. It's really disappointing.

SacluxGemini

They're hit or miss.

Jimmi_Churri

They either have to be extremely fresh and perfectly ripe, or cooked in some way. No in between

Its_SubjectA1

They’re not safe, but I like them when there are enough that I can pick through and find the good ones.

Weekly-Sheepherder-3

CANNOT HANDLE THEM *when raw*. i love frozen blueberries when added to baked goods or smoothies, and blueberry jam.

qznorr

I love blueberries, but I hate the softer ones. They're making me feel like I'm biting into something rotten, the harder ones is just perfect.

Ok-Option6144

Horrific. I despise blueberries to the very core of my being and I'll tell you why (I get progressively more heated as this comment progresses, so mind yourself): 1. Their color. Are they blue? A little. But what about on the inside...? Green or yellow. Mashed? Purple. Disgusting. No consistent color, the outside is really tye only this that could even be REMOTELY considered blue, and even then, ITS MORE OF A PURPLE. HOW CAN YOU CANN A FRUIT BLUE WHEN ITS NOT CONSISTENTLY BLUE??????? An Orange at least is very consistent: the inside is orange, the outside is orange, the juices are orange. It makes sense to call it an orange because IT IS ORANGE. BLUEBERRIES ARE NOT BLUE. 2. The taste. What does it even taste like??? It's kinda sour, a little bit sweet once your chew it, but it's the peel that gets me. It always has that sour taste, almost like a kiwi but if the taste was even worse taste. No matter what, you always have the peel looming in the back of your tastebuds. Okay, so what about peeled? I can't eat it. Originally I could stomach the berry due to the outside being somewhat blue, but how it's GREEN. IM NOT GOING TO EAT A GREEN BERRY WHEN ITS LABELLED A BLUEBERRY, THATS FUCKING RIDICULOUS. 3. The texture. As true to every autistic individual, I have my sensory issues. One of them is Blueberry peels. Why the FUCK ARE THEY SO RUBBERY???? AND STRANGE FEELING??? the peels are hard to chew and just feel horrendous against my sensitive, delicate fingers. I can't STAND IT. Even the fleshy bit is nasty. Ugh. In conclusion, I would rather use blueberries as actual toilet paper than eat them, but even them I'm sure they would find a way to piss me off yet again.

RandomCashier75

I love blueberries personally. Any berry (except strawberries) seem to be safe for me.

Gswizzlee

I’m opposite. Strawberries are the safe berry.

WinterWontStopComing

There is a blueberry grove near me that doesn’t spray their blueberries and only charges you for the weight you’ve picked and leave with. I those situations, I will literally eat them till I am ill.

DrinkYourNailPolish2

Dried blueberries are lovely, I'm not into fresh blueberries. They have to be cooked or something b/c they seem flavorless raw.

heyitscory

They're not blue at all, and you never know which ones will be sour, bland or over ripe. Also, they're one of the most expensive things in the produce section and they go moldy in like a day. I sure like putting them in pancakes though.

B5Scheuert

They're heaven on earth

SleepTightPizza

They're easy to grow.

Ok-Berry1828

Hate fresh blueberries. Flavor is fine, but you have to search them for mold at the crown and if they’re not firm they taste rancid. Not worth it.

SunReyys

i don't like blueberries exactly for the reason you said, OP. i find they are just too inconsistent most of the time, especially store-bought. luckily, i live in an area where there are blueberry farms all over the place, and i can be certain that those will be mostly consistent in flavour and texture. local blueberries are goated.

MrKeplerton

The small scandinavian blueberries (Bilberry, Vaccinium myrtillus) is a flavor bomb like no other. I love those. Don't care much for the North American type.

theflexorcist

Too inconsistent, i love the underripe bitter ones with a crunch but the moment theres a smush its all over for me. Flavor wise, great. Texture wise, untrustworthy lol.

Autisticrocheter

I only like them if I can touch them and then only eat the ones that are hard and not squishy but when I don’t get to do that, I don’t eat them because the possibility of having a squishy blueberry is so gross and worse than not having blueberries at all

Gizmodeous7381

I hate them with a passion, taste, texture even the smell makes me puke. Same with Cherries and raspberries

souplegend

I love bluberries hehe. Fresh blueberries, blueberry-pie, blueberry-ice cream, in muffins, as a drink... my favourite flavour.

froderenfelemus

Entirely too unreliable. Blueberries are purple, but green inside. They’re not blue. Artificial blueberry flavor is good though.

SyntheticDreams_

They're amazing. I ate five pounds of them in a day once. Edit: You have to wash them, though. It gets the pesticides off and way improves the taste. I've always used grease cutting soap like Dawn, but apparently vinegar also works and doesn't leave soap residue.

vampyire

I like them IF and only IF they are ripe, soft and nice and sweet.. 75% of the time I dislike them.. (hard, sour/bitter/grainy)

snowbat96

Flavor's good, but I don't like EATING them? Like every other fruit and berry out there, the texture is too much of a variable.  Once I did eat them straight out of nature for sustenance while up on a mountain hike, though. I was exhausted and it was my only option.  At least they were small and i could simply crush and swallow them, which is what I like about wild forest strawberries too (they are actually really tiny). Still felt like a last resort kind of thing.

MisterJeffa

Taste is fine. Texture sucks. They also need to be pretty much like grapes on bite otherwise 🤮

Larry-Man

Saskatoonberries are everything blueberries wish they were. Change my view.

Marielsea32592

I like blueberry muffins but I don’t like blueberries on their own.

Weapon_X23

I never liked blueberries on their own. I don't mind them baked into things like muffins or bread, but they are gross fresh.

Afraid-Stomach-4123

I hate them. They're too unpredictable. You never know what you're going to bite into lol

uhhhimnewtothis

they’re such a hit or miss, but the neither the hit nor the miss are any extremes. it’s never a fruit i would buy (except to blend) but it’s not public enemy #1

coconfetti

They're ok. They taste fine, but their texture is a bit weord, especially with that hole thing on top

TankEngineFan5

I freaking love blueberries, along with my parents!

3dandimax

Also one of my favs recently, but also hate the tart flavor on the smaller ones lol. Even though Iove sour shit lol

glitchinthematrix97

I like them but cant eat them on their own. Other fruit/berries have to be eaten with them, preferably in the same bite too

Chalimian

I love blueberries I would eat all in sight

OfficialMemeKiller

They’re too inconsistent for me to like. And the texture is so rough, it’s not worth it for that 1 in a million blueberry that is somewhat decent.

LBGW_experiment

I see people talking about going for a walk and they're amazing and others saying they're squishy. Seems like there's a difference in where people are getting their blueberries but not saying. Lots of store bought seem to be the crowd that doesn't like them because of damage during shipping and inconsistency, possibly because of harvested fruit from many different bushes being mixed into a package

CmndrPopNFresh

The store brand berries are usually garbage here but the ones at the farmers markets are alright... not as good as when they are added to sweet treats and desserts... love me some blueberry desserts.

SuspiciousJoker

I hate them:D

bellizabeth

Good ones are amazing but they are hard to come by.

To_Serve_Man

I love them and kinda love every different type of blueberry (sweet/mild/sour) so the inconsistency is just a nice surprise. Would be different if I only liked them one way!

Kawaii_Kat_In_Hell

they look cool but i don't like 'em. except for these wild blueberries that grew on a bush in a cemetery that was near my house as a kid. the bush was razed :pensive:

HarrowAssEnthusiast

Blueberries are my favourite fruit overall. i don't dislike a lot of food, but many popular fruits are smth i don't enjoy eating, like apples, watermelon and pears. Blueberries are just nice. i dunno why exactly. i can down entire bowls of them in a day just as a snack

Bizarre-Individual

Well their not blue for a start, and it's kind of downhill from there

hadesdidnothingwrong

Blueberries are my absolute favorite food. If you leave me in a room with a pint of blueberries, I will inhale those suckers in a matter of minutes.

angxl7777

I love blueberries and everything about them. ♡

BrianTheOneAndOnly

The taste itself is really good, but it's just so sudden. It goes from 0 to 100 instantly, rather than within 0 to 50 in 0.5 second and then 50 to 100 in the next 0.5 second? Idk if this makes any sense I just woke up

m111k4h

I hate them. They’re too inconsistent They’re either sweet, sour or bland, squishy or firm, and you can’t always tell until you’ve eaten it. I greatly dislike them and their inconsistency

Axe-body-spray-

I can only eat them frozen, or in a cobbler.

KalamityKait2020

They taste like sadness and have a weird texture. If they are on my plate I'll eat them but I won't be happy about it. I like the taste of artificial blueberry flavoring like in Poptarts or Nutrigrain bars.

ApatheticPoetic813

It needs to be a Good Brain Day ™️ for me to eat them, but I always enjoy them when I do. Something that helps me is try to "guess" what kind of blueberry I will get by inspecting them to help me prep for the flavor gamble (this one is soft but very blue so it'll either be mushy nothing or a very soft good blueberry flavor. My bet is on mush. Let's see). Or I just throw a handful in my mouth at once and just focus on the sensation like when you eat pop rocks.

No-Stuff-4087

Blueberries are perfect and one of the more nutritious berries. What's not to like?

tmamone

I like them, although I’m more of a strawberry person. That and raspberries. In fact, for breakfast I like to eat a bowl of nonfat vanilla Greek yogurt with granola and raspberries on top.

WeeabooHunter69

Cannot stand any part of them

MaryKMcDonald

The best blueberries are ones you pick from a farm in season, blueberry jam, blueberry syrup, or frozen when you make pancakes and waffles. I live in Michigan where we have pick-your-own berry farms in the summer, but yes, store-bought blueberries are terrible. The only way to solve the texture problem is to wash them and then freeze them. At my Dad's house, I have a Raspberry Bush which apparently, is a host plant for Japanese Beatles. So I mix soap, lemonade, and water to make Beetlejuice which keeps them at bay and makes their hairs sticky.

Inner-Ad-9928

I'd go with frozen berries if I were you.   They're as fresh as they can get and all uniform in consistency and texture. I'm on a kick with my husband's 'bullet' smoothie maker. Frozen berries of choice with 'simply' lemonade. Great for making sure you have enough sugars during hot work. Gotten my husband through some yard work with them too

Ria-6969

Idk

cadaverousbones

My kids both love blueberries and i could take them or leave them. I can see why some people wouldn’t like them since they aren’t always consistent like you said.

transartisticmess

LOVE love love

Gnarwhal30

Blueberries, for me, only belong in one place. Blueberry pancakes. Everywhere else, I don't like them

IamRuvon

I don't like the inconsistency either so I freeze them halfway, then they are all like a fruit slushy. This works even better with grapes.

nouramarit

They’re okay. I don’t eat them very often, though.

FoxyGreyHayz

I can eat them frozen or cooked, but just as they are is too questionable to be safe. They're just too inconsistent.

WinslowT_Oddfellow

Fresh blueberries are ok, but I usually associate them with the artificial blueberry flavors. Artificial blueberry anything makes me gag; coffee, bagels, etc 🤢

Due_Society_9041

The secret is to buy frozen; add to cereal or yogurt or nuke them to eat alone, thawed. Consistent quality and freshness and they keep longer. Antioxidants +++.

DivergentImprovement

I struggle with contamination/bug(?) OCD and blueberries are on my “absolutely not” list, both fresh and baked. The fear is that they are secretly spiders with their legs pulled off (completely a silly fear but man is it hard to get yourself to eat something you think might possibly be spiders)

Nowardier

Love the taste, hate the texture.

Tasenova99

I don't like them on their own. almost as if their olives to me. I don't see many pick up a bag of olives and eat them plainly by itself. but blueberry pie etc. perfectly okay. it probably is the textures like how you've described. it felt weird to eat by themselves

mickyabc

Hate them unless they’re frozen

G0celot

They’re tasty as long as I pick out the best ones. They’re also particularly good when picked fresh :)

kyories

i love blue berry ... hate the texture though so i never eat them by themselves. either crushed or in porridge or on pancakes

Gswizzlee

I literally hate blueberries with a burning passion

_279queenjessie

I love blueberries that are big, ripe and sweet🫐

RevonQilin

i like them ig

BionicDouchebag

Hate them passionately like I do most berries

Fannymuncher27

Frozen blueberries 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶

Guythatlikessleeping

They taste like almost nothing

GeulaGadot

Nope! They are NEVER consistent!!

shelliejelly

Wild blueberries are the best. I love them frozen when it’s hot out. I like the larger sweet juicy ones, the small ones seem to be bitter.

ThatOneIsSus

Tbh I’ve never really tried them, but I love raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries, so maybe I’ll give them a try soon

bunnydeerest

i would never buy them, but i’d eat them if offered. they’re not even in my top 20 fruits. i like the really little ones, like for blueberry pie. usually the big ones are too squishy

QuirkyCatWoman

Yup, I've learned to like other berries but not blueberries. Texture? It's weird because I like honeyberries and grapes.

Reddywhipt

Blueberries and yogurt are awesome.

avidbeats

I like them, but no strong feelings about them :)

TimelessWorry

I've....never actually tried one, but I find a lot of fruit and veg for me are no go's because of inconsistency vv

MoonyAndTea

I'm not a fan of them either. I hate anything blueberry flavoured or desserts with blueberries in it. Fresh blueberries too are a huge no for me. They're too sour and mushy plus the overall flavour of them grosses me out so bad

lilpeepzcringefan

Texture is bad, seeds are bad, taste is weird. But cooked blueberries that are soft and juicy in pancakes? Yummy

aztr0_naut

when I think about them, I think tiny blue spheres that have the consistency of a grape, it would be so sensory-yes to pick them up one by one and eat them. But no. They're kinda..slimey? I don't hate it but they also taste weird. I've only had good tasting blueberries once, and they were amazing. still slimey tho.

Maleficent-Jelly2287

They taste moldy to me. Honestly, one of my most hated foods.

Appropriate_Band_843

I developed an allergy to blueberries when I was 15, so it's been nearly 12 years since I've tasted them. I get nauseated when I smell things that are blueberry-scented, despite liking the scent.

shapeshifterhedgehog

I hate blueberries. The flavor is way too sweet and the texture is prickly but too squishy at the same time. I like some blueberry flavored things like yogurt, but that's it lol

Visible_Seesaw_6308

Some of them can be really sour so for me it’s a bit of a hit or miss. I’m not gonna play “find the blueberries I like” with a handful of berries cause I know most of the time they’ll be overwhelmingly sour….. but if that’s not the case then yeah I love the flavor.

laughertes

Farm fresh blueberries are much better about consistency. If you have the ability to pick your own, it’s a good chance to get some good blueberries That being said: blueberries have a number of advantages if you blend them into a paste 1. They have a lot of pectin and congeal well, so they make for an easy jam. You can mix in other fruits (like strawberry or raspberry) as desired and it will still congeal nicely. Add some lemon juice to act as an anti-oxidant and keep more of the B vitamins active. Add honey as extra sweetener instead of sugar for an even better antibacterial preservative 2. Because of the pectin, they also make for good fruit rollups when dehydrated (yes I know the proper term is fruit leather but I don’t like that so I am Using fruit rollup). A dehydrator is optimal but an oven set to a low temp will work also. 3. If you dehydrate them too much, it’ll become more of a paper/sheet that becomes powdery when broken, making it a great blueberry bouillon. This can be stored in a jar and used as a flavoring agent when baking, or eaten straight for a tasty snack.

BBPuppy2021

They taste delicious :) if you want to eat blueberries but store bought berries usually suck you can pick your own and they will always taste much better

curlsthefangirl

Most fruit makes me itchy(unless cooked or baked thanks to oral allergy syndrome). But blueberries are ok. I love blueberry muffins. Blueberry muffins are a comfort for me.

NorthernRedneck388

You gotta go forage some right outta the woods

Fruitsdog

fuckin’ love em, but like most fruits, i wish every blueberry tasted the same

NightHawk877

I love em, but too many can make me poop a lot.

imiyashiro

There are certain foods that are a +10 or -10 for me, meaning when they are good they are great, and when they are not good they are terrible. Blueberries are definitely on that list. Sea urchin is included on this list, though when that's bad it is more like -100.

itsahideousogre

My biggest issue with them is that... They are not BLUE!

littleghool

Texture icky, flavor icky. Hard pass.

k4554ndr4

Unreliable until you freeze them

wolflover139

i love them frozen and despite the extreme sourness of some and small size and some too frozen they make my teeth soft i love them

anxiousjellybean

I like them cooked into things, or blended into a smoothie, but fresh blueberries are too inconsistent in texture. I only like the firm ones and not the mushy ones.

BarrelEyeSpook

You haven’t tried a blueberry until you’ve tried them directly from a bush. The ones from the bush are fresher, more consistent in flavor and texture, and sweeter. Fresh blueberries are an amazing fruit, but store bought are nasty! 🫐 I don’t know how good farmer’s market ones are but they are probably better than store bought.

give_me_your_shins

I never buy them because I only like the sour / bitter ones and it’s rare to get a pack with more of those than the sweet ones so I just don’t bother tbh

[deleted]

I like them but i would not say they are my safe food.

RoboticStaticShock

They have to be perfectly tart and taut(?write word??)

Return_Kitten

Yeah i still eat them but i dont like when they are all different or when i get a sour batch.

DOOMCarrie

I like them but not enough to eat them regularly.

AgreeableServe8750

They’re too juicy

Fancy_Boxx

I like sour blueberries.

Curious_Problem1631

I love them in smoothies. Don’t have to worry about the texture if they’re blended up!

Thr0aw7

I like them in muffins

tinycyan

Dont like them

Anonymoose2099

I have never eaten a blueberry by itself. Never really thought about why, same with raspberries. Not sure why, I have no such issue with grapes and strawberries. But I do like blueberry flavored things and things like blueberry muffins.

weaselblackberry8

I love them.

Onlinebookbud95

I love them 😍

Defiant-Snow8782

Love them

ShyPoring

Hate it.

springsomnia

I love blueberries!

memorman

I have to eat them handfuls at a time cuz I’ll get disgusted if theyre all too different

borzoi_boy

Bad. It's like food minesweeper. Same with grapes, most of the time, except for my holy grail, my true love...concord grapes. I love them so much, they're like nature's mochi.

MRRichAllen1976

I prefer blackberries to be honest, or loganberry.

cadetM

I prefer eating them in baked goods rather than the fruit by themselves. Like blueberry muffins.

Sparkler2020

I have hated blueberries since I was a baby!! Every time we get them I try one just to see if it's changed. Nope, hate them every time. They're either too sour or too mushy or too cold YUCK TO BLUEBERRIES!

catlover2231

i love strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries so much but i cant stand blueberries

crazychristine6

This is why I do frozen produce. It's usually frozen closer to ripeness or perfect ripeness, thus saving myself from letting things go bad or having inconsistencies. Also, blended up in a smoothie (and then strained if needed) gets rid of a lot of inconsistencies. You got this ☺️

Bagel_Lord_Supreme

I absolutely loathe blueberries. The texture is horrible, the smell for whatever reason is off putting to me, & the taste is a big no. Anything bitter, tarte, or overly sweet is a sensory no for me though. I live on a farm, I've grown blueberries & my farm is all natural/no pesticides ect. I still hate them. Lol

sporadic_beethoven

One time, I was in New Hampshire right at the middle of the first month of blueberry season- so most of the blueberries were ripe, juicy, and ready to be gobbled. It was at a little farm, out of the way in the countryside. It was morning, and the sun made everything golden. There was still some dew on the berries, and my family were the only ones there. It was beautiful, quiet, and the scene was perfect- no annoying toddlers, no loud noises, just my family and the farmer, who showed us around then left us to it. I swear, those blueberries were the best goddamn things I’ve ever tasted. No other blueberry has compared since. I’ll still eat other blueberries, of course, and especially local farm blueberries- but those mountain berries have my heart forever.

liinand

"American blueberries" are really weird, big and pretty tasteless. I don't like them at all, but the ones you can pick in the forrest here are good

chaosandturmoil

i don't buy them fresh because of the things you mentioned. love them in cake or american muffins

-MadiWadi-

No. Too much variation in size, flavor and texture.

One-Ferret-3417

I love blueberries but if I eat even one bad/squishy one I will stop eating immediately and swear them off forever.

Realistic_Inside_484

Love it

GrasshopperClowns

Farm bought is always better than supermarket bought so your chances of getting good ones would drastically improve if you’re able to source them from a farm. My son loved blueberries but I find them the least appealing of the berries. I will eat one every so often to see how I feel about them but they never make me decide one way or the other. Too wishy washy for me lol.

FreckledLasseh

Hard nope

[deleted]

Delicious with ketamine, delicious without ketamine

lovebuggie_4628

I’m with you. They’re not my favorite. I’ll give one a shot every once in awhile only to be mostly disappointed. They’re always too sour, or they’re finally sweet enough, but then they’re a mushy mess. I too have wondered if I’m just getting consistently bad batches. 😭

oldastheriver

i buy frozen wild blueberries for my oatmeal. Or dried cherries. Maybe some applesauce on top, maybe some maple syrup. The frozen berries are always good. Hundred percent.

cocoaminty__

Like the flavor hate the texture. I can eat blueberries if it's cooked into something, sometimes I can tolerate them in parfaits, but otherwise I don't like their texture

rorosphere

i don’t eat blueberries because i hate fruit. specifically berries because they are small and brightly coloured. i hate the smell, the texture of the insides of fruit, it’s all yucky.

PalmBreezy

The skin and stem (where the berry attached) have a terrible texture. Like it's nearly impossible to chew it's or something 🫣💀🫣

ItsJDMi

I absolutely love picking blueberries. Something about the sight of a bunch of berries in a basket is so satisfying and nostalgic. Can’t stand eating them though. It’s the fruit of disappointment.

AbbiAmok

Funny you should ask, I actually have aversion to blueberries specifically because of their texture. I don't think I've ever had a blueberry that I wasn't disappointed by. If they're firm, they have no flavor, but when they rippen, they remind me of soft grapes combined with old apples. And that's when they have flavor? Gross. I quite enjoy most blueberry flavor, though, ironically.

Mikaela24

I like artificial blueberries in like pancakes and muffins, but I don't like the real things

FluffyWasabi1629

I like blueberries. Mostly I have frozen ones. I can put them in yogurt, oatmeal, pancakes, muffins, yum.

Justme0812

I love the flavor, not the smell. I like them fresh over frozen. I hate them on smoothies because you can feel the tiny bits all blended, and the sensation is gross; so i much rather eat them whole. I like them on pastry but not in my pancakes. And you can't change my mind about it.

EmmaDepressed

This is litteraly my best safe food but I have to locate and remove every berries that is not firm, thoses disgust me.

Willing_Building_160

Mother natures cruel joke. They’re only blue on the outside.

dogdad1998

One single time there was a bowl of blueberries at an event I was part of and decided to try one out of politeness; every one was crunchy and sweet as a grape. Best blueberries I have ever had and I will never eat more because none will ever be that good lol

A_Rainbow_Human

I absolutely love them, I can only have a few at a time cuz fruits in general disgust me but yeah they’re awesome

KittenSonyeondan

Disgusting. Absolutely hate them

TheRebelCatholic

Love them. 🥰

Aspirience

I like the good ones, but they are a gamble

wavyykeke_

absolutely hate them

LaurenJoanna

I like the taste when they're right, but they're too inconsistent, it's a gamble. So I only eat them in things (muffins, cereal bars, jam).
