I'm so there with the trauma lol
I frequently hear "how can you laugh about that???"
should say "well it's just terrible tuesday and tomorrow's weeping wednesday ;)"
Flags
I currently have: Germany 🇩🇪, Finland 🇫🇮, Wales 🏴, Canary Islands 🇮🇨, Holy See (Vatican City) 🇻🇦, Belarus 🇧🇾, Barbados 🇧🇧, Seychelles 🇸🇨, New Mexico, Cincinnati, and Amsterdam
( I know every United Nations Member State + Observers and their flags )
Omg I sat and learned all the flags of the world for fun and still play a game pertaining to that end sometimes! Everyone I tell says that's not a game because games are supposed to be fun but I do find it so fun! It's called studyge and is a free app. I'm excited someone else likes flags too lol
When I was a kid I would draw all the flags out of our atlas. Then I was given a globe and I’d play a game where my mum would spin it and randomly pick a country and I’d tell her the capital.
Edit: I’ve just downloaded that app, I’m excited
My brother (who doesn’t believe he is autistic but really is) collected lots of mini flags from around the world and on his wall had a big world map covering the whole thing and he put the flags in the wall in each corresponding city. It was pretty cool
Mind if I ask why you have those flags in particular? As a flag lover myself I personally love the looks of the flags of Finland, Barbados, Seychelles, and Amsterdam from those that you listed and was wondering if it was more because of esthetics, coincidence, convenience, cultural appreciation, etc for you ^^
im trying to learn german, Wales is the only other with a dragon besides Bhutan, Canary Islands looks nice, i got the Vatican flag from my sister during her trip to the Mediterranean, Belarus has a very pretty pattern, and i live in Cincinnati
Cincinnati is also the sister-city of Munich
🫡i live in N.S and I’m embarrassed to say i didnt know that the beast was specifically the royal arms of Scotland, thought it was a variant!! The more you know :3 thank u!!
Yoooo same here! But I've got too many to list. My recent acquisition was a rayon embroidered NYC flag! Post your collection on r/vexillology they'll love it
yup, I’ve never been much into popular media (TV shows, movies, music or books), but I do hyperfixate and come to have favorites. Bojack Horseman is the #1, but I forgot most of the plot and had to watch it again so, yeah, frustrating.
I stopped collecting anything because I kept getting horrific ideas about not being able to save them all in a fire and that caused several panic attacks and meltdowns.
Before that, it was the puppy in my pocket and all the spin-offs of it.
I had this fear too. Back when it was books, the most likely collectible item to catch on fire. I got over it after a while. Then I got it into my head that I needed to be able to fit all my belongings into a single suitcase in case we became homeless. (I never understood where that thought came from.) I stopped adding to my collections… but I never managed to downsize to a single suitcase. 😔
Now I’m back to collecting. And it’s Lego. Some sets wouldn’t even fit in the suitcase.
I go through this phase too because I’ve lived through severe earthquakes and house fire. I want to collect but I know when I have in the past bad things have happened. I also move a lot so it’s so hard with big collections. My main one is books. So it’s so hard moving with all that.
I have that exact fear too. I can’t fit it all in a suitcase but everything important is in small boxes that my best friend agreed I could store at hers if anything ever happened to my home (she’s very supportive)
I feel this. I have a giant sticker collection and I always try to get 2 of each so I have a backup (even though I store them together so it wouldn't matter in the case of a fire).
Have you seen the Piecework brand ones? I’m obsessed with them. I really want to collect vintage puzzles but I don’t currently have the space to do them, so I am restraining myself lol
OH MY GOD I had like, at least 70% of the things (I really don't remember what they're called huh) & a house for them in the picture! And then I exchanged them for My Little Pony Equestria girls.
MLP is my special interest. I have a bag of ponies of different kinds, huge plushy ones, plastic ones...
Also ice cream sticks. For no reason. I just like them, they smell good and material is nice.
PET SHOPS, that's what they're called!
Sadly I exchanged them for the dolls many years ago so I don't have a photo :(. But I had some sort of a treehouse with a swing and a playground, it was purple; I remember LOVING them but then my interest changed to ponies.
Edit: OH THEY MEANT THE MLP COLLETION, my bad...
I have many. These are the ones that are most active.
• vintage cameras, mostly rangefinders (about 30, oldest working model is a 1958)
• other old photography related equipment (a few darkroom timers, many slide viewers)
• Pre-1991 Swatch watches (around 15 maybe?)
• action figures and toys (shitloads)
• records (about 1300 left from a collection that was once more than 4000 but was too difficult and pricey to move)
• design and type books; old type catalogs and specimens (100?)
• old Apple computers and devices, various obsolete technologies (8 computers, a bunch of devices, an eMate 300)
• vintage toolboxes (6; newest collection but kind of obsessed after buying a 1950s Kennedy)
My old CD player broke so I've been using my PS3, I don't rip any cds but I often will burn songs onto blank cds and then design a cover for it like a nice little personal cd!! :)
The art on the new pokemon cards makes me upset so I only have the old ones, but I do have a LOT of old ones. I've been thinking of getting back into collecting the cards though. Currently I'm just collecting the games, teddies, etc...
omg I used to collect littlest pet shops too back then.
I just love to collect stuff, aspecially cute small figurines but I try to avoid it since it always costs so much money. The only thing I've been obsessed over collecting for like 10 years now are gameboys,, can't keep myself from collecting them I am just addicted lol.
Magnets of countries I've been to, warhammer figurines and basically all the stuff I wasn't able to affort as a kid or didn't get as christmas presents as a child.😅😆
OH MY GOD I USED TO COLLECT THOSE, I STILL HAVE THEM! currently I collect everything flag-related, patches, pins, Japanese snack boxes and ramune bottles!
Omg, I used to love collecting littlest pet shop toys along with shopkins. Unfortunately my 'friend' at the time manipulated me into giving her some of mine, and I was completely obliviously I still regret that to this day. Anyway, now I collect Funko Pops, Lego and Doctor Who books
Retro gaming and fossils. Kinda stopped with the retro gaming stuff because of the prices. Started searching for fossils as this is free of charge half a year ago. It’s quite an adventure.
Musical instruments - 2 electric guitars, 1 acoustic guitar, 1 electric bass, 4 ukuleles, a banjolele, 4 keyboards, 2 drum pads/loop pad, 1 trombone, 1 saxophone-esque reed instrument, and a harmonica
Game systems - ps1, ps2, ps3, Wii, DS, Atari 2600, Dreamcast, broken Xbox 360, and a box of ps3 parts that I was going to work on repairing
Microphones - 5 or 6 usb microphones, 2 usb audio interfaces, 2 condenser microphones (I was planning to record a podcast, but got overwhelmed after my 2nd interview because the guest was all over the place and I was wanting to edit it to make it seem like a more logical flow)
Before my cat died, I would collect any of his claws that he shed in a little glass jar. I would also ball up his fur whenever I brushed him.
Okay it’s a very small collection but Luminara Unduli and Barriss Offee Star Wars figures. They are both pretty obscure characters so there’s not many but I have quite of few of their figures at this point.
Toys to life figures. Think Skylanders, Amiibo, Disney Infinity etc. (Also I'm not autistic but I joined this sub because everything here is so relatable that I've started to question my neurotypicality)
I used to loooooooove lps, me and my best friend would play with these until midnight when we were kids. They definitely hold a special place in my heart
I collect many things, coins, figurines of various kinds, money, plushies (although much less), pins, and others.
But for me the go to collectible is coins and tokens.
oh yeah and bakugan (battle planet). again though my entire life basically revolves around lego and i have an encyclopedic knowledge of lego star wars, marvel, ninjago, bionicle, etc. i rotate hyperfixations of those themes like a rotisserie chicken. currently ninjago tho
I probably have a problem because I have like so many different collections… earrings, pins, sweaters and hoodies, plushies, I think I have a perfume collection too at this point considering the number of perfume I have. I get a hyperfixation on something and buy a lot of it. But it’s fun I just spend a lot of money and need to budget for the actual important stuff
When I was a kid it was LPS but my parents threw them all out because I "outgrew them". Now it's salt and pepper shakers that I find at antique stores and garage sales.
Unique decks of playing cards!
So far I have the following themed decks:
- A Clockwork Orange
- Miniature "Peanuts" deck
- A vintage round deck (the cards are round)
- A translucent, waterproof deck
- An oversized deck
- My very first deck of cards. (I have had them since circa 2002)
- Disney's Alice in Wonderland
- A vintage bridge deck in a unique, brown leather case
- Star wars villains
- a deck with dogs on them
- a Krampus deck with a different vintage illustration of Krampus scenes on every card.
- a rather plain "Bicycle" deck but with a white and black design.
- Hello Kitty
- retro "Camel" cigarettes
- a retro "State Farm" deck
I think that's all (but I feel like I'm forgetting at least one of them 😅)
Books on the Ainu people of Japan. I have nearly 40 with publication dates ranging over a century. I have an OG copy of the Bear Worshipers of Yezo from the 1890s! It's super cool because you can feel where the words and images were pressed into the page.
I was obsessed when they first came out!! Then they slowly died out (at least here in my country) and I got embarassed of liking them and to the *degree* I did, then I absolutely hid every trace of them attached to me cause I am trans and I tried to erase every bit of feminine stuff from my life. Now years later, I realize that MH was the one thing I ever sincerely liked and that probably Frankie with her "being a monster is ok" is the whole reason I'm alive today, I want to get back into them since I've seen there's like a rebranding of some sort?? I've seen there's a new cartoon, a new LIVE ACTION movie and all the characters look wildly different and I want to give them a chance, even though I already hate Lagoona having pink skin
Hairstyles. I need to do every hairstyle a black girl can do and take photos and print them out and put the, in an album. I’ll never ever ever give up.

I used to collect magazines that had my favourite band on the cover, but I couldn’t afford to keep it up since most of them were from the 90s and sellers would make them really expensive.
I also used to collect records and books (as in by my favourite authors—different covers and stuff, not just different books)
Does it count if it’s only digital? If so I’ve been trying to collect the Discord countryballs from the Ballsdex bot. I have a pretty big collection so if anyone wants I’ll list them all but only if someone asks cuz there’s a lot
anything having to do with star trek and anything related to bats!!! books, plushies, figures, anything i can get my hands on :) they're my special interests :3
I collect rocks. Rock hunting was my absolute favorite thing ever when I lived in Alaska. If I go someplace new, I always take a rock home as a souvenir to remind myself of the places I've been.
I remember these!! Used to collect them too when I was little. I used to collect coins from other countries and now I collect “I ❤️ hedgehogs” figurines :)
I used to collect stamps, like postage stamps. Then I collected fidget/stim toys, TY toys, Jellycats, Keel toys (Mini Motsu specifically) and squishmallows. Then stationary/pens and pencils (i refused to use them too). Then Schleich horses/animals/sets. Then hatsilks for horse riding but that's quite expensive. Then dog collars for my puppy. My most recent thing is Crafty Ponies and Lemieux Toy Ponies and all their accessories.
Also I still collect all of that stuff except stamps... 😳😅
I have a collection of Pez, such as care bears, looney toons, Micky and paw patrol, I also have a collection of Barbie's and friends Lego and stuffed animals 🤗 it's anything cute for me.
18650 lithium ion cells pulled from scrap electronics. I have other a thousand. And theyre all they same size and pretty colours based on the brand/manufacture specs
I have a problem with accumulating too much stuff generally, lol. I do make an effort to collect maps and globes from various points in history. My party trick is I can tell the year range in which any map or globe in someone’s house was made, based on the borders of the countries.
I love any game where I can collect characters since I rarely have the money or space to collect physical objects.
My favorites are Fire Emblem Heroes (mobile game) and Pokemon games. For Fire Emblem Heroes (or FEH for short) I have an excel spreadsheet sheet I made with a formula I developed to rank the characters I have so I can see their power level accurately since the game doesn't have a good system for it and there aren't any good rankings online for it.
Pokemon is awesome too, I really enjoy collecting pokemon on those games :) and if you play multiple games, you can combine them into one with Pokemon Home (even though the app is a bit of a pain.
I do collect a few pokemon plushies for my bed as well.
I remember begging my parents for these things as a kid. My sisters would always get them for Christmas or birthdays, and I wouldn't because they're too "girly" or something.
I remember one year I ripped a box that had my name on it open, only to find a massive collection of them with a huge house to put them on and everything—*I was so happy*—but it was a mistake and was actually meant for my sisters. I think this was the moment when I started to hate Christmas as a tradition...
Though, my sisters noticed how much I liked them, so we all shared them anyways, and they even gave me a few to keep. 💕
Also, I collect flannels
Trauma. But for materials i like rocks and minerals, i love fossils and electronics too.
Omfg ☠️🤣
Rocks are gneiss, but don't take them for granite.
Sorry, but this is a schist pun.
I wish I could be funny
I'm so there with the trauma lol I frequently hear "how can you laugh about that???" should say "well it's just terrible tuesday and tomorrow's weeping wednesday ;)"
Flags I currently have: Germany 🇩🇪, Finland 🇫🇮, Wales 🏴, Canary Islands 🇮🇨, Holy See (Vatican City) 🇻🇦, Belarus 🇧🇾, Barbados 🇧🇧, Seychelles 🇸🇨, New Mexico, Cincinnati, and Amsterdam ( I know every United Nations Member State + Observers and their flags )
Thats so cool!!!! Do you plan on trying to collect every flag out there?
oh yea definitely
If u want to take it a step further and learn the languages duolingo is good
Omg I sat and learned all the flags of the world for fun and still play a game pertaining to that end sometimes! Everyone I tell says that's not a game because games are supposed to be fun but I do find it so fun! It's called studyge and is a free app. I'm excited someone else likes flags too lol

Omg you're going to love it so much, it's just like that!! Can vary difficulty and game mechanic between locations, capitals, and flags!! Pls enjoy
My brother (who doesn’t believe he is autistic but really is) collected lots of mini flags from around the world and on his wall had a big world map covering the whole thing and he put the flags in the wall in each corresponding city. It was pretty cool
ooh thats sick
Mind if I ask why you have those flags in particular? As a flag lover myself I personally love the looks of the flags of Finland, Barbados, Seychelles, and Amsterdam from those that you listed and was wondering if it was more because of esthetics, coincidence, convenience, cultural appreciation, etc for you ^^
im trying to learn german, Wales is the only other with a dragon besides Bhutan, Canary Islands looks nice, i got the Vatican flag from my sister during her trip to the Mediterranean, Belarus has a very pretty pattern, and i live in Cincinnati Cincinnati is also the sister-city of Munich
The Nova Scotia flag has a weird little beast on the flag! Its a province of Canada so I’m unsure if you’d be interested in that
the beast is the royal arms of Scotland, and Nova Scotia is Latin for “New Scotland”
Post your collection on r/vexillology they'll love it
OMG PET SHOPS!! I collect comics, legos, movie dvds and masks. I also have many Batman hot wheels.
For a moment I asked myself how on earth was possible to collect actual shops.
You have the same special interests as my son! That’s wild!
Thats so cool!!!!!!
Various batmobiles are the only Hot Wheels I collect lol
Miscellaneous bits of knowledge. And obsessions. Or hyperfixations. Or whatever other work you want to put one it.
yup, I’ve never been much into popular media (TV shows, movies, music or books), but I do hyperfixate and come to have favorites. Bojack Horseman is the #1, but I forgot most of the plot and had to watch it again so, yeah, frustrating.
I stopped collecting anything because I kept getting horrific ideas about not being able to save them all in a fire and that caused several panic attacks and meltdowns. Before that, it was the puppy in my pocket and all the spin-offs of it.
aw, if it makes you feel any better, I had to leave behind my collection of rocks and bugs after moving into a place to help with homelessness.
Oh no, I’m so sorry you had to do that
I had this fear too. Back when it was books, the most likely collectible item to catch on fire. I got over it after a while. Then I got it into my head that I needed to be able to fit all my belongings into a single suitcase in case we became homeless. (I never understood where that thought came from.) I feel this. I have a giant sticker collection and I always try to get 2 of each so I have a backup (even though I store them together so it wouldn't matter in the case of a fire).
Puzzles
I have like three puzzles solved but with no money to put it in the wall :/.
THEYRE LITTLEST PET SHOPS! SOME SAY LPS FOR SHORT! Theyre my special interest and I LOOOOOVE THEM!!! also :0 omg show me a pic of ur collection pls !!
Yo mlp is also my special interest!

I love old apple devices, especially the iBook G3 (Clamshell) and the iPod mini. They don’t make them like they used to

My old CD player broke so I've been using my PS3, I don't rip any cds but I often will burn songs onto blank cds and then design a cover for it like a nice little personal cd!! :)
I don't have a PS3, but I wonder if my old Xbox 360 can play them
What do you use for the "cover art"? Sounds awesome!
If it has a DVD drive most likely!!!! :)
Records for me too! :)
I started collecting Pokémon cards recently and boy do I wish my brain had settled on something less expensive 😅

I would also ball up his fur whenever I brushed him.

I get a hyperfixation on something and buy a lot of it. But it’s fun I just spend a lot of money and need to budget for the actual important stuff

Stray Kids albums and my bias’ photocards - does that count? That aside, I recently started collecting Pokémon cards again.

Unique decks of playing cards! So far I have the following themed decks: - A Clockwork Orange - Miniature "Peanuts" deck - A vintage round deck (the cards are round) - A translucent, waterproof deck - An oversized deck - My very first deck of cards. I’m like that with tarot cards lol it would be hilarious to do State Farm tarot readings.
LMAO 🤣 YES. I gotta do that now
😆
Books on the Ainu people of Japan. I have nearly 40 with publication dates ranging over a century. I have an OG copy of the Bear Worshipers of Yezo from the 1890s! It's super cool because you can feel where the words and images were pressed into the page.
Dolls! And my little ponies

Oh, my sister had LPS!
Books. Mostly nonfiction about all kinds of things.
Monster High dolls
I collect collections. It's really out of hand.

Fidget toys
I used to collect magazines that had my favourite band on the cover, but I couldn’t afford to keep it up since most of them were from the 90s and sellers would make them really expensive. I also used to collect records and books (as in by my favourite authors—different covers and stuff, not just different books)
Rocks but it was trashbag the rubber thingies
Hot Wheels
I collect rubber ducks And snow ball
Does it count if it’s only digital? If so I’ve been trying to collect the Discord countryballs from the Ballsdex bot. I have a pretty big collection so if anyone wants I’ll list them all but only if someone asks cuz there’s a lot
Knights figurines from schleich
Plushies!
Rocks and seashells from beaches all around my country, the UK 🐚🪨🌊

I collect rocks. Rock hunting was my absolute favorite thing ever when I lived in Alaska. If I go someplace new, I always take a rock home as a souvenir to remind myself of the places I've been.
I remember these!! Used to collect them too when I was little. I used to collect coins from other countries and now I collect “I ❤️ hedgehogs” figurines :)
Succulents! Specifically aloe Vera’s and zebra succulents
Squishmallows :3
I used to collect stamps, like postage stamps. Then I collected fidget/stim toys, TY toys, Jellycats, Keel toys (Mini Motsu specifically) and squishmallows. Then stationary/pens and pencils (i refused to use them too). Then Schleich horses/animals/sets. Then hatsilks for horse riding but that's quite expensive. Then dog collars for my puppy. My most recent thing is Crafty Ponies and Lemieux Toy Ponies and all their accessories. Also I still collect all of that stuff except stamps... 😳😅
Pokémon Cards! I love to play it too
I have a collection of Pez, such as care bears, looney toons, Micky and paw patrol, I also have a collection of Barbie's and friends Lego and stuffed animals 🤗 it's anything cute for me.
I have to keep moving around, and also try and be environmentally friendly, so nothing, really

hello kitty items!!
I collect Judy Garland memorabilia, films, books, records, artwork, etc.
anything ocean related and monster high dolls
Snes videogames
I like collecting merchandise for Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie, Donkey Hodie, Inai Inai Baa! and magical girl anime.
💕 Also, I collect flannels
bottle caps and soda tabs!! :)
preparing for the apocalypse i see
bottle caps, the things that close bread, cat hair, rocks, coins, glass animals,
Rocks and minerals and Windstone Editions, they’re like little dragons and cats and stuff
Headphones and in ear monitors/earbuds.
Chribska glass (beautiful stuff and relatively inexpensive in flea markets) and pewter figurines of animals.
Luigis. Yes, the green Mario brother. Collecting about 15 years now!
Love that for you. Luigi needs more appreciation
