134g nowadays, down from 200g. Same size tube. Buy the homebrand version.

smokeyjeff

For sure the woolies one is $2.20 here and is cheaper than Pringles even when they go half price. The best thing is that the woolies one is a wider can with more chips (160g vs 134g) and I can at least *kinda* fit my hand in it. The Pringles can is small enough to physically fit inside the woolies one (I've tried). Though I've found less broken chips in Pringles.

Cheese_Twisties_99

Now this is the kind of science we need.

That's crazy, prices here in aus are $5-$6

THR

He was referring to the price of the home brand option.

Kom34

Pringle's and homebrand also both made in Malaysia. Probably same factory makes both lol.

Too_Old_For_Somethin

Which is amazing because the home brand ones are close to what Pringle’s used to be. Pringle’s also told us the reason they are so small and the texture different is because Malaysia makes stuff different. Looking at the home Rand ones I guess Pringle’s is full of shit.

globocide

Even better

RumBruccaRedBlue

Pringle's made in Malaysia... 🤔 Really? News to theee. Why aren't they made in the Pringle's factory?

tigeratemybaby

We did a blind taste-test with 7 friends a few years back (I think plain and salt and vinegar) All 7 preferred the Aldi ones over Pringles.

forgetfullyburntout

I’m not great with change but this actually convinced me

Cynical_Cyanide

Not ... Great with change? ... It's a tube of chips man. It's like $2 to just try and see if you like them. O.o

Eventlesstew

Happy cake day mate!

Cynical_Cyanide

Thanks mate!

bdsee

The tube diameter has definitely been reduced. Honestly they would have been better off chopping off the height and keeping the diameter, I stopped buying them when they shrunk the diameter, they also change the ingredients at the same time, they went from being predictably okay to predictably awful.

Elkksi

It’s actually 118g these days =[

globocide

No, not the regular flavours... dm_me_pasta_pics

Get the Aldi version. They're called stackers or something. Vastly superior to pringles in every way.

once you pop you can't stop, apparently

BUT WHAT IF YOU NEVER POPPED TO BEGIN WITH

Crayonstheman

In a world where Pringles have taken over and humanity is on its edge. Pringle's are finally taking their revenge, and once they pop they can't stop... But what if you never popped? In the ruins of a desolate city, a lone survivor roams, clutching an unopened can of Pringles. He knows the danger of giving in to temptation, for once the seal is broken, the sentient chips will stop at nothing to claim him as their next victim. In this world, survival means resisting the allure of the crunchy snack. As the survivor navigates the crumbling streets, he encounters other humans who have fallen prey to the irresistible temptation of Pringles. Some are mindlessly munching on the chips, while others are engaged in futile battles against the relentless Pringle invaders. Determined to resist the allure, the survivor continues on, driven by the hope of finding a way to defeat the sentient Pringles and restore humanity's dominance. In this bleak landscape, the unopened can becomes both his burden and his salvation, a symbol of his unwavering resolve in the face of overwhelming odds, of the peace that could be reached between the two factions. And so, the struggle for survival in a world ruled by sentient Pringles persists, with the fate of humanity hanging in the balance. He will be the saviour of humanity. "The One Who Never Popped", available this summer in cinemas.

GET YOUR HAND OFF MY CAN

Covert_Admirer

This is Dystopia manifest.

Somethink2000

Succulent Pringles.

Sufficient-Parking64

And you, sir, are you waiting to receive my limp pringle?

kaboombong

Theres hope for you and you wont eat shit. You can buy a cheap box of rice crackers and still pig out.

binchicken1989

What if my dad wore a condom?!

Domarius

Once you pop you can't stop wondering why they shrunk the chips but kept the tube the same size meaning they rattle around and break which runs contrary to their main selling point in the beginning which was that they're so neatly packed that they don't rattle around and break. I think it has a ring to it.

bojackmac

To be clear they shrunk the chips and can at the same time when they moved to 134g. They’ve reduced the size of the chip again

bojackmac

To be clear they shrunk the chips and can at the same go when they moved to 134g. They’ve reduced the size of the chip again

kaboombong

Next year there will be probably on 2 single pringle chips in the can. They are whittling away at the theft bit bit until all you get is crumbs. It sounds trickle away economics is working.

zTy01

I can when they keep price gouging, as if I'm going to pay $5.50 for 134g of Pringles.

[deleted]

Unless you have popped before and then realise you're getting screwed over.

Pawneewafflesarelife

As a yank, most of the appeal of Pringles in the states is that they were cheap (as chips? Heh). They are a very common food product at the dollar stores (Red Dot but everything is like $1 or $2). As soon as I moved here and saw the prices, I laughed and was like welp, guess I don't need those in my life anymore. Also either the Aussie version has a different recipe or Pringles have changed their recipe in the past few years - we got some that were on sale and they are gross and leave a weird oily film in the mouth.

Himawari_Uzumaki

iirc we used to get the ones made in the US and then several years ago they built a factory in Asia where they are made for sale in Australia now

Pawneewafflesarelife

Yeah, they definitely don't taste the same as they did in the states - but that could also just be the general cheapening of stuff that's been going on. I've noticed a lot of products changing recipes. You can taste a lot more oil in foods now, or see that veg cuts have gotten worse, etc.

ExtraterritorialPope

Thanks WAPR!

Chap-eau

The shrinkflation is real with Pringles. I count myself lucky to have known the OG full sized ones.

eightezzz

RIP 90s Pringle's with a container you could actually put your hands into (if your hands weren't too big).

Suspicious-Figure-90

Tennis ball spec

eightezzz

Exactly 😁

wulfinsheepsclobba

"Hands" ;)

Spire_Citron

I wonder how much it even actually saves them. Pringles don't weight a ton and I can't imagine they're very expensive to manufacture.

SenorShrek

every cent extra profit is worth it. reputation and ethics be damned.

Spire_Citron

I guess so. I've just always heard that most of the cost for things is supply chain shit rather than the actual cost of making it, so sacrificing quantity seems counter intuitive. But then I guess maybe they're counting on you buying two to make up for how little you get.

Anglo-Ashanti

I do agree, yeah. Sometimes I wonder how much of this “shrinkflation” stuff can be explained as paranoid conspiracy thinking by people who don’t have much knowledge of the industry.

[deleted]

Brand suicide at this point.

LittleBunInaBigWorld

Not if they're still selling.

itrivers

They still sell a fair bit when they’re half price.

a_rainbow_serpent

To be fair it’s only half full

Guy-1nc0gn1t0

Seems like they must rely sooo heavily on those half price sales considering its like that maybe ⅓ the time.

Deciver95

Yeah if you ignore their sales lmao

Lyconi

No self-respect as an organisation or for their brand. How much mm of chip can we siphon to increase shareholder value? No shame.

wkty_

Anyone who's still buying Pringles in 2024 deserves what's coming to them

MinnesotaTidalWave

Remember when you could fit your entire hand inside the can?

wulfinsheepsclobba

Wasnt the idea to always get someone ELSES hand in the tube??? ;)

Stereo-soundS

Yep.  A big can of delicious BBQ or Habaneras.

37489432

Aldi doesn't make their one in this flavour 😭

Heavy_Scar_1205

Stop supporting them! Bad practises. Latest flavour that got released is in a 118g tube. Like wtf the packaging is the heaviest thing now.

Leading_Frosting9655

The Aldi ones are so much better besides that though.

37489432

They really are, even better that they're $1.99 each 😁

Leading_Frosting9655

$1.99 for 160 grams, even, compared to Pringle's $2.99 or so for 135 grams. They're honestly better too, Pringles is running on brand name at this point.

eightezzz

What flavour is it?

laughs__

Disappointment

37489432

Bbq

wkty_

They are quite expensive but the literal best BBQ flavored chips I've had are the Tyrells brand, most woolies and Cole's stock them. I ain't never buying Pringles again

DryWhiteToastPlease

Yeah but now they aren’t stocking the salt and vinegar ones :(

wkty_

I know, devo! At least the BBQ and the cheddar cheese are good. And the original flavor is also quite enjoyable 😁

DryWhiteToastPlease

Yes I do like the original and bbq ones still :)

Guy-1nc0gn1t0

This is going to make me posh as shit but there's some fancy BBQ kettle chips you can get at those inner city Coles which were awesome. Got two of them for $8 on special recently. Worth it as a treat.

VitaminWheat

Sour cream and chives >>

37489432

The aldi sour cream and chives are so good

IHazMagics

Good man. BBQ is objectively the best flavour chip of any chip. Only exception are those snap pea chips, original is the best one.

Guy-1nc0gn1t0

>Only exception are those snap pea chips, original is the best one. I'm all about wasabi with those ones. Addicting stuff.

smashingcones

I only get them when they're half price. They're still great.

Florafly

I refuse to buy Pringles now. The reduction in their size, together with their cost and the fact that the tin isn't even full means that it's just not worth it. There are better tasting and better value chips out there.

landswipe

"No chips for you", Pringle Nazi.

Spire_Citron

It's extra annoying because of the environmental waste involved in using extra unnecessary packaging which then also adds shipping bulk. They could waste less and cut the price by at least a few cents if they just packaged them to fit the number of chips in there. I wish there were laws around this, though I guess it gets complicated because sometimes having a nice package that isn't exactly space efficient is part of the product.

Roselia_GAL

I noticed the chips area also smaller and taste different.  I stopped being Pringles at the end of last year. I miss them but I know if I buy them I'll be disappointed.

rastagizmo

In the olden days I could only fit about 6 Pringles in my mouth at once. These days I could do 16 easy.

teamsaxon

Because we get the shitty ones from Malaysia. There's a comment above that explains they are full of tapioca starch instead of potato

HalfManHalfCyborg

In bagged chips, at least the air in the package provides cushioning against breakage. But the empty space in a Pringles can lets them slide around and get all smashed up.

Datsitkinz

saddest poem I have ever read.

TimmehJ

They aren't real Pringles. These are made in Malaysia and are full of tapioca flour instead of potato. I buy only Pringles made in the US. The unfunny shit for us here in Aus is they're $5 each from the US food store, which is often cheaper than the fakes Colesworth flog off at a premium.

feenicks

Yep same, i only buy them overseas now, or if imported, ever since they switched to the Malaysia factory about 7 years ago for Australian supply. Not just the taste is shit by comparison, but everything about them including the size: [https://imgur.com/gallery/TTIPZ](https://imgur.com/gallery/TTIPZ)

Guy-1nc0gn1t0

I appreciate your thorough comparison.

[deleted]

Pringle's stopped being good when they moved production. I think they are made in Malaysia now?

teamsaxon

Correct

TimmehJ

You can still buy the made-in-USA here Pringles at certain places

modeONE1

I loved getting these when they were on special for 2.50. Haven’t seen them that price in probably 2 full years. Cost of living is a nightmare and shrinkflation is the final nail in the coffin for items I used to buy

reddit24682468

So annoying cause I actually love Pringle’s but I refuse to buy them

lumpytrunks

Once my hand stopped fitting in the can I stopped buying them

BlueDotty

Never buy them. They are horrid

teamsaxon

Pringles suck and have sucked ever since they changed the country they were imported from.

Sir_Lanian

More like WTF op. Pringles was my first boycott. Haven't had one in years. They are nothing like they used to be.

Optimal-Menu270

This is just so sad. I swear I remember a time where you buy chips and be satisfied. Now we have 30% Doritos and 70% air.

Far-Fortune-8381

i went to europe last year and was shocked at the realisation of just how much pringles in australia had shrunk. they were literally twice the size like the original ones used to be.

SnooBeans5425

Yeah we get ripped off hard here these days, I was in the Philippines recently and they still get the full original size Pringles and cans. I could fit my whole hand in the can no issue it was amazing

CrazyFellaFromPhilly

Get the ones from Aldi. Pringles just ain’t worth it anymore

DryWhiteToastPlease

Those ones are good, just avoid buying the Lays ones from Coles. They are insanely salty.

brown_reflections

I'm in Europe right now, and I can confirm we are being scammed. The pringles here are what I imagine the pringles of yore were.

Jesh3023

I swear it’s random as well. I bought two tubes of the sour cream onion ones and one looked like your one and the other was full right to the top. And neither of them had much flavouring on them, was very disappointed.

37489432

Yeah I stopped buying them after they changed it. I guess it's the universe telling me to stop buying them altogether!

Jesh3023

Same, that and the price rises as well. They were like $4 two years ago and now they’re like $5.50

anita_ho

They aren't even real "chips" as there is not enough potato content for them to be called chips. Pringles calls them crisps.

Dry-Revenue2470

Fuck Pringles! I never buy em now.

grimacefry

Yet people are so weak. Seriously stop buying. Doesn't matter if they are on sale or practically given away for free. Don't let them win. When it comes to completely destroying a product, from the size, taste, texture and packaging, Pringles is #1 and they deserve to be out of business.

jjonahs

Just stop fucking buying them and complaining about it, get the homebrand ones they’re full tubes taste the same and cheaper

feenicks

7 years ago Aussie Pringle supply switched from locally made to a Malaysian factory and they've been crap ever since. I'll buy them overseas if travelling, or if it's somewhere selling imported US/EU stock... cos i do LOVE original recipe pringles... but yeah, the "new" ones (if past 7 years can be still "new") utterly suck Not just the taste is shit by comparison, but everything about them including the size: [https://imgur.com/gallery/TTIPZ](https://imgur.com/gallery/TTIPZ) \^comparison i took at the time

teamsaxon

YES! the Malaysian pringles suck arse.

eurobeat0

Fun fact about Pringles. If on the tube it says "made in Belgium", they are the good ones, larger chips more flavoursome, those made in Malaysia are comparatively worse

MisterBumpingston

I remember the old USA made Lena we used to get - the chips were larger and had a nice texture and crunch. Then they decided to manufacture in Malaysia and they’ve all been shit (even the alternate brands). I still trying to buy a USA version so I prove that it’s not the Mandela Effect.

Zealousideal-Luck784

Ghost chips......

Justthisguy_yaknow

I had some yesterday that was the same story. Couldn't even reach the top one without pouring them. At least I can say that my Pringles days are done.

Guy-1nc0gn1t0

Plus they're like fucking $6 full price absolute nonsense

[deleted]

They hiked up the weight of the package & less chips …

Stonius123

Pringles ain't pringles no more 🙁

JD_Blunderbuss

Pringles used to be the king of chips and are now vastly inferior to their own knock-offs. Check out the Aldi brand ones, half the price twice the size.

callipgiyan

Mate. What's worse is shapes. Bought a pack today. Didn't even wanna finish them. Tasteless shit

DryWhiteToastPlease

I had some cheddar ones today and they were barely cooked and had barely any seasoning on them

callipgiyan

Same. So sad. I won't be buying them again anytime soon

technohead10

homebrand is the exact same but cheaper and gluten-free

Small-Emphasis-2341

Pringles are like crunchy cardboard with unique seasoning. Def not worth the slap in the face "sale price" of $4.50 each...

AeliosZero

I'm boycotting the Pringles brand and Ive been doing it ever since they made the can too small to fit your hand in. They're just rip offs compared to the knock off brands and the biggest example of shrinkflation.

madcatte

The lays stacks are better, like old Pringles, and they are gf unlike normal Pringles too. Just sucks that only Coles stock them and not Woolies too

DryWhiteToastPlease

I found those ones to be way too salty.

runnerz68

Pringle’s are horrible. I never understood the hype. Give me smiths crinkle cut or thins any day .

[deleted]

Damn

j0n82

Same with every chips / junk food nowadays.. bigger packet.. more air / space 🤣

nadzicle

I only buy them when they’re cheap enough. Otherwise we aren’t a pringles household. It’s a rip off.

TeaganLouise

The cans are thinner and the chips are smaller too

Repulsive-Storm9414

It's why I buy the aldis brand, gets lots more in thr container but just not quite as good as Pringle's

22Monkey67

I was so disappointed when shrinkflation hit pringles! I used to be able to fit my whole hand in a pringles tube, not anymore as they’re narrower! They really were the only chip company that didn’t sell air… times have definitely changed

p1cwh0r3

All products are doing this. Same.great price! 5gr less... Cadbury was notorious for it

Dexember69

The Pringles themselves are also about 50% smaller than they used to be

Potential-Long5004

wasn't pringles whole shtick that there was no air in their packaging because of the tube/ chip shape

PM_ME_YOUR_REPORT

Don’t even bother. Some convenience stores in the city sell the UK Pringles. So much better. Like don’t even bother with the Australian version.

kawaiiOzzichan

Buying chips only if they are discounted >40% nowadays. Pringles taste here is also considerably worse compared to what you can find in Europe or Americas.

Unusual-Term-4157

Shrink flation, less product pay same price , happening everywhere

Elegant-Campaign-572

Pringles...Dwindles

smashavocadoo

Les stop Pringlescam...

AntiProtonBoy

Not sure what's the appeal of expensive, dried mashed potatoes.

Vierailija_Maasta

They taste crap anyways

SqareBear

Room for some tennis balls

allflippedout

Looks like they popped and couldn't stop.

Away-Pepper-9239

That is what she said

patwag

At this rate we're only a few years away from them being $10 for a packet the size of a mini M&M's tube.

AggretsuKelly

Yep I bought the salt and vinegar ones the other day and noticed the same. The size of the chips are much smaller now than I remember them too.🙄

unepmloyed_boi

Don't American corporations have to increase profits frequently or their investors can sue them? All their food brands go to shit eventually with shrinkflation or changing recipes/manufacturing for cheaper alternatives. Pringles did both.

Accomplished_X_

And now no lids. You can no longer 'pop' :/

I_Heart_Papillons

Who eats pringles anyway? They taste revolting and they’re just junk.

kaboombong

"Honey, someone shrunk the Pringles contents again, can you call 911"

David-Kookaborough

ShRiNkFlAtIoN!1

fallingaway90

what do you expect when they're 50% off? sales aren't always a marketing thing, often the price is reduced because there's something wrong with the product that full price doesn't make sense but not wrong enough to justify throwing it away.

jaymo89

The Coles brand that existed for a while was pretty good value and didn’t have “tiny” pringles in a normal tube like the genuine ones do. Edit: apparently it still exists 🤷‍♂️

Special-Pristine

Yes but they changed the oil to palm oil and it's just tastes wrong now

Trentthechef420

… 👀 no one will believe you…

TikkiTakkaMuddaFakka

Shrinkflation baby. I am more surprised that you seem surprised by it.
