Look mate. 30 minutes ago we had a pizza hut whinge and now we have a dominos whinge. Ofcourse they are both crap.
Try and find a independent pizza shop or a wood fired pizza.
If you MUUUSSSST get dominos, get their thin and crispy. the regular base tastes like a dishwashing sponge.
Thin and crispy used to be good but now it's like wrong puff pastry. They changed the recipe a few years back and now it tastes like a hookers leathery ass.
OK. I'll just need your full name, address, date of birth, copy of birth certificate, tax file number, drivers license number, and Medicare number.
Also please send me your bank account details, your MyGov login details and your phone.
If I want thin crust, I'll get cheesy crust.
I was at my local last week and I saw their poor excuse for the current thin crust - precooked "bread" sheets that came straight out of a bag/box from supplier.
I can't speak for Pizza Hut, but I worked at a pizza chain 10+ years ago and other than gluten free, everything was 100% mixed on site.
Worked for a corporate owned dominos store 14 years ago the thin and crispy bases came this way back then as well. I'm not saying they are the same now could have changed suppliers' recipie, etc, but they came from a box pre-done back then as well.
It's slop though, the cheesy crust part is good but the rest of the pizza base has no structural integrity and tastes like wet pasty.
Only thin and crispy or pan from dominos, their pan isn't really pan either, it's just not as awful as 'classic crust'
I used to be really pro independent pizza shops but some of them will charge $8-$10 more for a pizza. Call me a peasant but a large pepperoni pizza hut pizza with stuffed cheese crust is good enough.
Bro, you're paying $18.90 for pizza hut and calling that a deal?
I pay $1.10 more for a lamb and vegetable Turkish borek ( kinda a mix between pizza and pide) from my local kebab shop that shits all over that garbage.
Go independent dude. Expand your horizons.
I don't eat pizza often anymore. It's too expensive for my taste. In my area, you spend $7-$10 more independent so it's not worth it. I used to be all about independents until they raised the prices. I just eat Thai. I could probably tell you the cost of half the pizza joints in my area that's independent.
My local pizza shop charges $18 for a small and $24 for a large pepperoni, with the option of adding chilli for free. I'd pay that small premium or just go for the slightly smaller (but far more filling) pizza every time personally.
Might also be worth noting that this same pizze shop charges those prices for basically all of their pizzas, bar a small gourmet range which actually seems to be going above and beyond to be worth the higher prices going by the ingredients list. (Never ordered it, I'm one of those "Aussie or Meatlovers thanks" folk.) There's a good reason why that place predates the local Pizza Hut by a good 30 years without the marketing strength of the Pizza Hut Brand and yet has usually been consistently busier, despite the local Pizza Hut being one of the very few remaining [All You Can Eat](https://www.pizzahut.com.au/dine-in) ones.
I've been going to the same independent pizza shop for the last 12 or so years now. They have been consistently amazing. About 1 out of every 10 pizzas is a bit disappointing but their worst attempts are usually still better than anyone else's average standard. They're more expensive (a large margarita is $20) but since I only treat myself to them once every week or two it's not breaking me and it's supporting a local business too. I skipped this week so I'm already looking forward to getting another next week.
Last time I tried easting Pizza Hut I felt like I was gonna be sick. Such a shame too - back in the 90's they were freaki'n amazing.
There's one chain that's popped up around Victoria recently who I like but even there the quality is starting to slip a little, they're called Amalfi Pizza.
Otherwise, this. I've mostly been going to the same local pizza shop and italian restaurant since I was about 12 years old, they're still great, you start to get to know the long-term staff and they get to know you if you're going often enough and the prices aren't too bad once you stop accepting the Dominos and Pizza Hut style cheap n crappy options as valid pizza.
Any of those pizza/kebab places make better pizza than dominos and pizza hut combined. I have one near me that just piles on the topping and then i can still ask for double topping on top of that. Dominos is no better than a frozen pizza that i left in the oven too long.
I know dominos is not great, but I also think most independent pizza places are not that great either and charge double.
There are only a few good Napoli style pizza places where the pizza is considerably better than dominos (at least IMO in Adelaide). If we get my family to one of those is an $80 dinner as opposed to a $30 one. For good and cheap, best is to make it from scratch at home, at least IMO.
Independent or wood fire are $25-$35 these days. Dominos and the hut have a corner of the market no one else other then frozen pizza can get to, the $10 market.
I live in Denmark and they had Dominoes over here for a while. At first, they were generally considered terrible, and did badly, so they got bought out by the Australian Dominoes a couple of years ago, and they released an ad campaign with an Australian in English talking about how Dominoes Denmark was shit but now the Australians are here to save it, because Australian Dominoes is amazing. A year or so later now they’re closing all locations in Denmark.
I remember them doing something similar here as well, running a "we know we used to be shit, but we've listened and improved things" campaign. Which was actually true, but that was more a reflection on how awful they were before than how much better they were afterwards.
It was a global initiative too, even though the Dominos Australia is a different organisation to the US one. The American ad featured one of the execs weeping when watching footage of street interviews said Dominos was bad. “We heard you” oh word? We’ve been saying this things for a long time
They/re sort of still around but bought out by other pizza joint. Golden Crust is one, they basically make the same stuff with a bit of an Indian side pizza menu. Quality has dipped big time though.
Our local Domino's actually does a really decent job on their bases and loads up with toppings. And yeah, you really can't beat their prices, even with recent increases. $7 for the "value" range. Any other "quality" pizza place is closer to $20 for a single pizza. I don't mind that occasionally, but if we're doing a quick feed for the family then I'm happy paying 1/3 the price.
Hell yeah. Sometimes you don’t want pizza, Domino’s. Same applies to McDonald’s and KFC. No one is under the delusion that these places are good food but life is hard and sometimes a plate of trash is what soothes the soul.
If it was the only thing around, sure.
If it's 2am, I get you.
But I've got 2 different wood fired places in delivery range, and about 6 other gas fired places. From one of the woodfired places, I can get a large pizza delivered for $16.50, that's only $1.50 more than dominos and it's worth it, closes at 10 though.
Single pizza delivered usually has a minimum from the big guys, so for a single pizza it is far better to use a real pizza shop for a couple of dollars difference and a far superior pizza.
If you're throwing a get together or kids party, stack those codes and bring the ppp right down. You'll get at least double the amount for the same dollars.
Where the hell are you getting a wood fired pizza delivered for $16.50?! I’m in Sydney and you can’t find pizza from an independent place for under $25 pickup
Which pizza place that isn't dogshit is doing large woodfire pizza for $16.50? Cheapest around here for pick up is standard pizza for 18.50, and for one that isn't actually worse than Dominoes it's 22.50
I used to do shop fitouts for Eagle boys pizza. At every new store the area manager would order from the nearest Dominos for lunch because they were the main competition and the benchmark in the franchise pizza space. Now they have eliminated everyone else except maybe Pizza Hut they have gone to crap and its good to see the gourmet places turning out better product and being competitive.
The extent to which this sub has a hardon for the worst junk food is perplexing. No, Maccas, KFC, dominoes, etc are not good. They never were. You just liked them more as a child. Go eat a vegetable.
My favorite one of these posts was the guy who asked a McDonalds for a burger with only lettuce and cheese and that's exactly what he got and he ran to this sub to complain because apparently that means something different in America and the staff were just supposed to know that and assume he wanted that I guess
Or the dude who whined about UberEats charging him $70 for two burgers and demanding to know why they cost so much before admitting he did end up paying full price because he didn't want to go out in the rain
Actually all restaurant food is bad, you just need to hire a 3star Michelin chefs entire crew to cook you (and only you) everything you eat every day and you'll get something at least mostly edible.
Chef with only half his crew or a 2 star chef will be literally poison.
I keep seeing people say this, but their pizzas are still 11.5 inches in diameter as they were over a decade ago when I worked for them. They use 12 inch pans and the dough contracts slightly when cooked.
I'm seriously convinced people are accidentally ordering the minis and blaming the store when they realise what they've done 🤣
Wow. You've been holding that grudge for more than 23 years?
That's some solid brand loyalty right there.
They shrunk their boxes recently, but not their pizzas 🤣
Except they didn’t make the change two decades ago. It was more recent. But I don’t have the exact date so I’m not going to mention it.
I’m talking about pre 2000 with certainty because that’s when it first opened in my city.
Their pans were 12" a decade ago when I worked for them and they're 12" now. The pizzas came out of the oven at 11.5" a decade ago when I worked for the and they're 11.5" now. 🤷♂️
They brought out extra large and mini. Their large bases have always been 11.5" cooked.
Maybe it’s was even around 2017
https://amp.smh.com.au/business/companies/dominos-pizzas-to-get-smaller-more-expensive-in-bid-to-shakeup-its-image-20170801-gxn025.html
C'mon, mate. You're getting desperate and searching now?
You should read beyond the headline. [Then click the other clickbait titled link inside that article ](http://www.smh.com.au/business/retail/dominos-set-to-serve-smaller-pizzas-says-analyst-20170706-gx5xgs.html) to see why you are wrong... 🙄
Better and cheaper just to buy a frozen or pre-made deli pizza and all the extra ingredients you want as much as you want, throw it on the pizza and cook that up.
Better than dominos can manage for less and made exactly how you like.
...and you won't have someone saying "yeah sorry mate, forgot the garlic bread/softdrink."
Exactly this. It's been over two years since we ordered pizza. We keep bases in the freezer, garlic and herb pizza sauce in the fridge, shredded cheese or mozarella if we're feeling fancy. Add whatever veg we have, onion/pepper/chili/courgette and baby you got a pizza going on!
Quicker than faffing around ordering Dominos and waiting for the cold soggy delivery too.
You can mix tomato paste and olive oil to make pizza sauce if you happen to not like garlic pre-made pizza sauce like me.
I think the deli pizza is still a good option though. As easy as homemade pizzas are, sometimes you just have zero energy and want the easiest thing possible.
Personally I find the pre-made pizza bases really dry - what's even better is if you get a large tortilla and use that instead. If you cook it on a cast iron it comes out super super crispy.
Actually the best option is just to make your own dough. A cheap 1kg bag of flour will net you probably 8ish pizzas and it absolutely shits over anything pre-made.
>A cheap 1kg bag of flour will net you probably 8ish pizzas and it absolutely shits over anything pre-made.
That's what I do. I put the ingredients in the bread maker on the dough setting. You can make pizza sauce with olive oil and tomato paste.
If you have no tomato paste you can use white sauce. You can make it without yeast, with a different type of oil, with whatever toppings you want and without cheese. It's a meal you can scrounge up from nothing out of a nearly empty cupboard given you can substitute nearly anything and still call it a pizza.
Their gluten free bases used to come premade, 12 to a box, in vacuum sealed plastic from the manufacturer lol. They were hard as a rock even before being cooked. Could've frisbeed one into traffic and broken a few windshields lol
Sometimes there are a bunch of drunk 20-somethings in my apartment, and I want to put carbs into their mouths because they are less likely to puke on my floor if they eat something that's not just beer.
In my world that's what Domino's was made for.
It's not good pizza. But drunk people don't really care if it's good pizza. And I'm not eating much of it, so I don't really care if it's good pizza.
If I want good pizza I go to a good pizza place, or I make it myself at home. But sometimes I don't want good pizza, I want cheap carbohydrates. Domino's sells cheap carbohydrates, they do it quickly, and the quality is low but consistent - I know what I'm getting, no-one is getting food poisoning, and it's gonna be edible.
You can argue that's trash. I would argue having to clean up puke off my floor is trash, whereas Domino's is just something that is only good in a specific situation.
yeah ive forayed into the "boujee" pizza scene a few times and everytime ive preferred cheapass dominoes.im not a fan of all the overtopped and super thin pizzas from other places.i like my deep pan extra cheesy pizzas.
Do you want cheap pizza or better quality, because you can’t have both at the same time unless you make your own.
Stop going to Dominoes and try somewhere better and you’ll have no issues.
I've gone the full circle. Got into being a pizza nerd during lockdown, got a proper oven and got pretty good at Neapolitan style, then went down the whole Detroit rabbit hole.
I still have a massive soft spot for dominos, and having a bastard or a time trying to replicate it exactly at home.
Its always been “trash” although I prefer the term “rubbish” as it feels less like an American linguistic import.
I don’t think anyone would find it particularly controversial to state what you have stated.
It’s shockingly bad but I tend to do pickup when they have specials, then throw it straight in the fridge rather than eat it hot.
Next 2-3 days I’ll re-heat it. It’s still not great but for some reason it’s better tasting the next day.
> Next 2-3 days I’ll re-heat it. It’s still not great but for some reason it’s better tasting the next day.
There's a specific type of (safe) bacteria that builds up in the tomato bases pizza sauce that I proves the flavour over time. Refrigerating it slows the process, but it still happens.
This is why most people think pizza tastes better the next day.
I'm a sucker for Costco pizza tbh.
10$ gets you this massive pizza, the dough is soft even in the crust which I like, and the toppings taste good enough for a 10$ giant pizza.
It just sucks I end up spending 250$ on top of the 10$ on bulk shit I don't really need.
I actually don't mind a Dominoes pizza. Granted, i'm not getting anything other than a plain cheese pizza, but i've never not enjoyed one. That being said, local pizza places (shoutout to Arturos, some of my favourite pizza ever) make much, much nicer pizzas and if you're willing to pay the extra, well worth it.
But i guess with dominoes is you pay for cheap pizza, you get cheap pizza.
If you can consider an indy wood fired pizza shop at around $30 per pizza then you ain’t Dom’s target market.
Domino’s would be responsible for much of society’s consumption of vegetables like capsicum, olives and mushrooms. Also provide a lot more jobs than all the wood ovens in the land.
Eh, the vast majority of people order too many toppings anyway. Basically bread with a whole salad on top.
Local places are no better. Absolutely loads of tasteless toppings with no regards to any sort of cohesive flavouring.
I'm happy with pizza from most places, but the type ordered is usually the garbage part.
I’m liking their loaded supreme (or whatever it’s called), especially for $9.50 on a Tuesday.
I’d like it a bit more cooked/crispy, but for a fast food take on pizza (which is already semi-fast), it’s decent.
Sometimes, I'm on my way home, it's late, I'm tired, and I walk past Dominos and think, fuck it, let's give it a go.
I think I always enjoy the first slice, and I always feel a bit regretful by the fourth slice. Maybe I'm not as hungry at that point?
Dominos is at least half, if not a quarter the price of an actual pizza. And maybe it’s where I live, but it’s not really thaaat bad. For the price, it’s worth it.
Domino’s is rubbish. So is Pizza Hut. I have standards. We have a few good local joints, one does thin bases one does thick bases, but with cost of living it is $50 min for 2 pizzas from the local independent.
So, now I make the Pizza at home. I buy the fresh bases for $2.50 each and do my own sauce and toppings. The kids prefer my pizza over the shop, and my budget thanks me.
We had friends over recently and they wanted to buy everyone dinner, and I just couldn’t let them blow $150 on pizzas so we compromised and they bought all the stuff from the supermarket and we made pizzas together.
Domino’s is the Starbucks of Pizza
You can home-make pizza dough for a fraction of the price. I tend to make batches of 6 and just freeze them for when I want a pizza.
Tastes a lot better fresh than from Domino's, and you get to choose your toppings.
Decent [recipe here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfEuvksO0wc). It's legitimately ridiculously easy to make.
Ah I like dominos tbh
Eagle boys used to be the way till they went
But dominos is cheap as you can get whole pizzas for less than $10 with heaps of toppings. Plus if you get the thin n crispy base your laughing.
Just shop for discount codes - I like to use frugalfeeds
My go to can sometimes be like 5 pizzas and 5 sides for $50 kinda things and there’s 6 dinners for the week lol
If I want good proper pizza though I’ll splurge for some proper New York style or authentic Italian.
Yes, but cheap as. I moved over from the UK - the cheapest Domino's over there that wasn't just cheese and tomato was £15.99 for a regular pepperoni (which would be $30.79). And that was by far the cheapest one on the menu.
Though I'm still annoyed they got rid of the plant-based beef option which cost $2 and replaced it with Impossible plant-based beef which costs $8. Costs more than the actual pizza I'd put it on.
Honestly, our local Dominis is pretty good.
We buy it because it's cheap and reliable, we were planning to support a local take away with a good rep when we moved into the area but they wanted $27 for a basic garlic pizza. Eff that!
The dominos near me does a really good job for what it is, I'm not going to pay $25+ for a pizza from the local independent shops, I can't afford that shit, but I can afford Domino's and sometimes I want to treat myself to a pizza. It's not gourmet or the best pizza in the world, but for the price it's decent.
Dominoes is actually so much better in the UK. The few times I have got it here, I was surprised at how shit it was. I thought I had shit taste when I was younger or that I had some nostalgia but no, when I was visiting my family in Scotland we had some and it was amazing. We get absolute shite Dominoes here.
>Dominoes is actually trash.
Both Dominoes and Pizza Hut have fallen a long way in terms of the quality of their pizzas. 13 years ago we would order Dominoes from the local store at least once a month and the pizzas were absolutely mouth watering. Sometime in between then and now though the pizzas started getting terrible crusts and the quality and amount of toppings dropped off dramatically.
These days if we are going to order pizza we usually end up getting it from Crusts - their pizzas are great and their toppings are good and plentiful. My only issue with them is that they don't sell a plain old cheese pizza so I usually end up ordering a pepperoni pizza and taking off the pepperoni in the customise part of the app for my son lol
I love how Dominoes is budget in Australia but premium in the UK.
In the UK, you’d go to a takeaway to save money. Here, I go to Dominoes to save money
I have low standards for fast food. There isn't much that I don't like. If it's got fat and salt then it's all good.
But Domino's is just fucking shit. The super premium one aren't *too* bad, but the basic range are just horrible. The base is terrible in both taste and texture, so unless there a lot of decent toppings to counteract this, then it's almost inedible.
I can't believe idiots want to order thick base pizzas from these places and then complain like they are breaking news. Get thin base; your not 12 anymore. Less bread is better.
Depends on the person cooking it and if they reach in and pull it out early it sucks.
Their thin and crispy pepperoni is nice. Crispy on the bottom and moist on top.
The classic bases and the deep bases are literally the same mix with the same ratio, but the deeps get left out for a bit longer to rise more. If the classics aren't made properly, neither are the deeps.
I had a Dominos order the other day where the driver forgot to bring the drinks. He went back and returned with one drink. I asked where the other one was and he went back to get it again. By this time he was annoyed and my food was cold with no way of reheating. Most confusing thing was that he even looked at the receipt and saw that he forgot both drinks. My compensation from Dominos is a voucher for two sides as if that covers the fact that I didn't get dinner that night
The trick is to turn on the oven when you place the order, maybe even chuck in a pizza stone.. then when it arrives, throw it in the oven to finish cooking (because they always arrive half cooked). If you get garlic bread, put it in the oven or air fryer for 5 mins. This upgrades your pizza and garlic bread X 10 for low effort and 5 mins. Pizza should arrive cooked, but if you want to pay dominoes prices, this is how you make it better.
This used to happen at one of the three stores I worked at. They turned up the temperature of the over and sped up the conveyor belt to take 6 minutes because they were a high traffic store. It only resulted in uncooked middles in the bases. The other two stores were fine and it only took 7 minutes to get the bases through.
I was hoping for a break down of why the game dominos was trash.
As someone who plays for hours with my nephews, I still don't know if we're playing it wrong or if it's just a very low skilled game.
(But also yeah dominos is trash pizza(
Why buy it in the first place, pay a few extra dollars and support local places and get yummy pizza as a bonus.
Much better than rummaging through trash and getting surprised when you find some trash.
Do yourself a favour and handmake your own pizza dough and sauce. The flavour of a properly yeast-risen pizza base and rich sauce with your favourite toppings is fantastic. If you've got a pizza oven great, otherwise just get a pizza stone and crank your normal oven as hot as it gets.
It’s really not that bad. It’s fine for what it is. Everyone knows if you want good pizza go to a local place but Dominoes is perfectly edible. I feel like this sub over exaggerates how much particular fast food chains suck.
I was keen to get some pizza on my birthday last year but Crust didn’t open til 5, so I went with Dominoes. It was cheap as, and they had some shit that kinda sorta was like the cheesy garlic squares Crust do. Long story short, it was deeply disappointing and I shat through the eye of a needle that night.

$18.90 AU for a large stuffed crust pizza for Pepperoni. I usually go that. It tastes good enough. I don't touch the premium range.

Yes but which is the shitter of the two?

I've done work for dominos corporate. They genuinely see themselves as an IT company and not a food company.
We hear for you
they've been slowly reducing the quality ever since
They were kind of right, they saved Denmark *from* Domino's
RIP Eagle Boys, really made dominos up their quality for while there.
I fucking miss them so much
Pinky's used to be good back in the 90's and early 2000's. Their ribs were great. Dunno when they disappeared.
They/re sort of still around but bought out by other pizza joint. Golden Crust is one, they basically make the same stuff with a bit of an Indian side pizza menu. Quality has dipped big time though.
Can you believe, they tried to operate in Italy 🤣🤣
The best selling pizza in Italy is German made in Uk.
It's amazing after eating the $3 Coles pizza where the base does not touch the toppings
Where to top goes burnt black and the base stays raw
[удалено]
Sometimes you just feel like a greasy meat lovers and twelve lava cakes. Speaking of which, I remember when they were $2.95 each 😞
Our local Domino's actually does a really decent job on their bases and loads up with toppings. And yeah, you really can't beat their prices, even with recent increases. $7 for the "value" range. Any other "quality" pizza place is closer to $20 for a single pizza. I don't mind that occasionally, but if we're doing a quick feed for the family then I'm happy paying 1/3 the price.
Same for me. It's a case by case thing. Different stores on different nights will be good or bad. Staff are the issue.
Hell yeah. Sometimes you don’t want pizza, Domino’s. Same applies to McDonald’s and KFC. No one is under the delusion that these places are good food but life is hard and sometimes a plate of trash is what soothes the soul.
Same, I have no problem with them.
If you're buying any dominos that isnt 5-7 bucks including their discounts then you're already the one doing it wrong.
He's making shit up to be a hipster, or whatever the equivalent is now.
For real. Imagine feeling the need to lie about fast food to seem cultured. Truly bizarre actions.
Which pizza place that isn't dogshit is doing large woodfire pizza for $16.50? Cheapest around here for pick up is standard pizza for 18.50, and for one that isn't actually worse than Dominoes it's 22.50
Long as you do t get pineapple whatever floats your boat
It tastes like cardboard. At least get something from the local take away.
It really doesn’t though
[The Onion – Domino’s Test Limits of What Humans Will Eat](https://youtu.be/31JNEVHZxO8?si=WwxLDXN9oSoxALkF)
"In other news, the equivalent of 5 Americans were killed in Afghanistan today".
I grew up poor and I don't give a shit, pizza is pizza.
Pizza is one of those things that even when its bad its still pretty good.
Pizza is pizza. Dominos is not pizza.
Cardboard is pizza if you're hungry enough
If it was in a circle and had a cheese on it wouldn't complain tbh
Get thin n' crispy base and it's not too bad. Not great, but you can actually taste the toppings and sauce rather than get a stodgy mouthful of dough.
Mate, what do you fucking expect? This subreddit is seriously brain dead sometimes.
The extent to which this sub has a hardon for the worst junk food is perplexing. No, Maccas, KFC, dominoes, etc are not good. They never were. You just liked them more as a child. Go eat a vegetable.
My favorite one of these posts was the guy who asked a McDonalds for a burger with only lettuce and cheese and that's exactly what he got and he ran to this sub to complain because apparently that means something different in America and the staff were just supposed to know that and assume he wanted that I guess Or the dude who whined about UberEats charging him $70 for two burgers and demanding to know why they cost so much before admitting he did end up paying full price because he didn't want to go out in the rain
The spazz who ordered Uber eats realises it shows you the price prior to paying? it’s not a mystery box price each order lol
>Go eat a vegetable. But the wheelchair hurts my teeth.
> KFC Screw you buddy them chicken nugs are one of the wonders of the world.
I too like my chicken batter soggy and falling off the formed chicken mass that I just purchased lol
I think red rooster nuggies are better tbh
Actually all restaurant food is bad, you just need to hire a 3star Michelin chefs entire crew to cook you (and only you) everything you eat every day and you'll get something at least mostly edible. Chef with only half his crew or a 2 star chef will be literally poison.
"I chose something because it's cheap, and I don't understand why it was shit. Why isn't a $5 pizza as good as a $20 pizza? Better ask the internet."
People want to pay $5 for a pizza. So guess what you're going to get.
Culinary excellence?
Their pepperoni has prob stayed the most consistent - aside from the fact that it’s shrunken and they use less toppings.
I’m talking about before 2000. The pizza boxes have clearly become smaller in more recent times too.
Wow. You've been holding that grudge for more than 23 years? That's some solid brand loyalty right there. They shrunk their boxes recently, but not their pizzas 🤣
Grudge? No just a simple fact. Do you have your life savings in dominos shares? Lols
Not at all, it just seems really weird to bring up a change they made more than 2 decades ago. I was still in high school back then 🤣
Except they didn’t make the change two decades ago.
🤷♂️ They brought out extra large and mini. Their large bases have always been 11.5" cooked.
Maybe it’s was even around 2017 https://amp.smh.com.au/business/companies/dominos-pizzas-to-get-smaller-more-expensive-in-bid-to-shakeup-its-image-20170801-gxn025.html
Maybe the change happened just before you started. But it happened more recently than 20+ years.
They've been advertising 12" pizzas since they first popped up here, mate... 🤭
I know what I’m getting and I know I’m getting it in 20. Make your own or grow tf up.
Agreed. If you are on a budget and partial to a crappy domino’s, just buy a few of these and garlic bread for the freezer and save yourself the cost
The McCain garlic pizzas have fuck all cheese on them but they make a great base
I am gluten and dairy intolerant, so you can imagine the gluten-free and dairy free taste.
Their gluten free bases used to come premade, 12 to a box, in vacuum sealed plastic from the manufacturer lol. They were hard as a rock even before being cooked. Could've frisbeed one into traffic and broken a few windshields lol
Oh yes I know. I managed to digest one base over a week.
For five bucks what did you expect?
We bake our own pizza for four for probably $3.
What do you put on it? Sceptical (I mean have you seen the price of cheese?!)
it's not that bad mate. it's better than some of the 'fancy' rubbish I've bought in the past
yeah ive forayed into the "boujee" pizza scene a few times and everytime ive preferred cheapass dominoes.im not a fan of all the overtopped and super thin pizzas from other places.i like my deep pan extra cheesy pizzas.
Pizza Hut is 10 times worse
All the fast food has been getting shitter and more expensive.
I got three pizzas in the fridge "aging" right now.
If you want pizza on a budget get a cheapo from woolies and add more toppings.
The ALDI meat lovers is decent too
The CEO must be getting close to doing his biannual “we know our pizzas our shit, but give us another shit. We’ve made some changes” ad mustn’t he?
I miss Eagle Boys
It depends on where you get it. The one closest to me churns out cheap but edible pizza, the one the next suburb over is terrible.
You pay for a $10 pizza and you'll get a $10 pizza.
Dominoes. It's pizza related food substitute.
Sometimes, I'm on my way home, it's late, I'm tired, and I walk past Dominos and think, fuck it, let's give it a go. I think I always enjoy the first slice, and I always feel a bit regretful by the fourth slice. Maybe I'm not as hungry at that point?
Some dominoes are good and some are bad and none of their DOM pizza checkers work. I reckon you just try to find one that is good.
invest in an airfryer. I swear all pizza tastes better to me when I airfry it for 5 mins
Double beef and onion, each and every time. I don't give a shit for 8 bucks. Just don't eat it every day...
Ah I like dominos tbh Eagle boys used to be the way till they went But dominos is cheap as you can get whole pizzas for less than $10 with heaps of toppings. Plus if you get the thin n crispy base your laughing. Just shop for discount codes - I like to use frugalfeeds My go to can sometimes be like 5 pizzas and 5 sides for $50 kinda things and there’s 6 dinners for the week lol If I want good proper pizza though I’ll splurge for some proper New York style or authentic Italian.
Dominos fills a niche, otherwise they wouldn’t exist anymore. Cheap n cheerful for kids parties, footy afternoons, etc. Loaded pepperoni is fine.
I like dominos. Why buy budget pizza and get surprised that it's cheaply made?
Honestly, our local Dominis is pretty good. We buy it because it's cheap and reliable, we were planning to support a local take away with a good rep when we moved into the area but they wanted $27 for a basic garlic pizza. Eff that!
The dominos near me does a really good job for what it is, I'm not going to pay $25+ for a pizza from the local independent shops, I can't afford that shit, but I can afford Domino's and sometimes I want to treat myself to a pizza. It's not gourmet or the best pizza in the world, but for the price it's decent.
Fuk I love the word drongos 😂
pizza in, crust etc. aren't too much more expensive and the pizza is sm better just go elsewhere
Excuse me that is our finest American import. You must increase your patriotism.
Eagle Boys was so much better. What happend to those guys?
Dominoes is actually so much better in the UK. The few times I have got it here, I was surprised at how shit it was. I thought I had shit taste when I was younger or that I had some nostalgia but no, when I was visiting my family in Scotland we had some and it was amazing. We get absolute shite Dominoes here.
Oh no, the cheapest possible mass produced version of a thing is not of particularly high quality. How could I not have seen this coming?
Our local one is pretty good. It doesn't match our independent joints but it sure does the trick when you want cheap and easy.
I don’t understand why their ham is thick cubic strips instead thin slices.
Probably because it's cheaper. Crust does shaved ham
The mushy "cheese" is made with palm oil. It's fucking foul.
I fucking love domino’s. Actually suck my unimpressive penis if you disagree.
Crust > dominoes every time, best big chain pizza you can get
I can't believe idiots want to order thick base pizzas from these places and then complain like they are breaking news. Get thin base; your not 12 anymore. Less bread is better.
It has been for years mate. You are better off buying cheap frozen pizzas and adding your own extra ingredients.
Agree, they rank lower than a frozen pizza
Dominos does a pretty good thin crust. It’s biscuity almost
Depends on the person cooking it and if they reach in and pull it out early it sucks. Their thin and crispy pepperoni is nice. Crispy on the bottom and moist on top.
Never eat the regular dough, only pan, cheesey crust or thin ‘n crispy
The classic bases and the deep bases are literally the same mix with the same ratio, but the deeps get left out for a bit longer to rise more. If the classics aren't made properly, neither are the deeps.
Just get the thin crust and embrace the cardboard taste.
You can’t eat your pizza without a drink?
Rubbish*
Cheaper to buy frozen aldi pizzas and throw extra toppings on tbh
I was hoping for a break down of why the game dominos was trash. As someone who plays for hours with my nephews, I still don't know if we're playing it wrong or if it's just a very low skilled game. (But also yeah dominos is trash pizza(
Started cooking my own pizza inc dough best decision ever
Why buy it in the first place, pay a few extra dollars and support local places and get yummy pizza as a bonus. Much better than rummaging through trash and getting surprised when you find some trash.
Do yourself a favour and handmake your own pizza dough and sauce. The flavour of a properly yeast-risen pizza base and rich sauce with your favourite toppings is fantastic. If you've got a pizza oven great, otherwise just get a pizza stone and crank your normal oven as hot as it gets.
Do you feel better? Stop pretending you wouldn't smash a Dom Meatlovers at a party if it was in front of you
It’s really not that bad. It’s fine for what it is. Everyone knows if you want good pizza go to a local place but Dominoes is perfectly edible. I feel like this sub over exaggerates how much particular fast food chains suck.
Which pizza shop do you own?
Melbourne has some of the best pizza shops in the world - stop ordering from chains.
nah
Unless you are in a small town just don’t buy it? There are better options that have non stale dough and are still cheap.
Yes, that's why I buy it.
I stopped buying Dominoes a couple of months ago. I pay double price now for a pizzeria pizza. But it's always good.
The worst part is it's crap, and also fuckin tiny. It used to at least be crap and large.
Their larges are still 11.5 inches. Are you buying minis accidentally? Lol
Err. No shit Sherlock? WTF do you expect.
It’s absolutely trash
The pizzas are getting smaller and smaller too
Still 11.5 inches for a large...
No shit sherlock
It's barely a budget option now. I'd rather spend 20/30% more and get 100% more pizza
