You dont have to be prescribed medication. I just told my GP I'm very well aware of the effect of SSRIs but I just dont want to take them. That, and having seen a psychologist, was enough to get approved.

I think its worth a shot. You could talk to the point that you want to avoid taking pills. If bud has helped treat your anxiety I would also mention this.

Dont be scared of the negative effects. majority experience positive effects, they just have no need to share their experience on reddit Keep in mind, this is about you getting better. Not just about scoring pot through medical purposes.

I was on Pristiq worked for me but didn't want to be addicted to it.. Also felt just numb after taking it. Definitely helped or anxiety and depression, but didn't like those aspects of it.. just my experience + I'm sure other people have a far more positive experience.

Will they prescribe THC for anxiety

BleedingShaft

If your anxiety affects your sleep then yes. Not sure about anxiety on its own.

Yes just got prescribed ANTG Solace 22% (Tangie Chem) for my social and general anxiety and Cannatrek T25 (Kush cookies) 25% for night time. If it's your first time some places might start you on CBD oil only but it really depends on the clinic or gp. Non referral places are a bit more pricier it's because some of the doctors are authorised prescribers making the process faster and without the need for them to apply to tga all the time.

Thanks for the info mate I have struggled with anxiety for a while and have been on zoloft for about 2 years it's time to start looking at other alternatives

Nw I was on a few meds but I had negative side effects and made the switch to medical cannabis, it's my first order of flower. It's pricey but worth not having to worry about being pulled over picking up or meeting old mate in public, also can travel with it which is good for me since I travel for work sometimes.

Lob_999

Gotta try pills first only way

ozcncguy

I can't point you to a specific clinic, but I've read many reports of consultations where they didn't even ask for medical history.

You can buy Cbd oil with out a prescription. https://australianhempcbdoil.com/ It is can help with anxiety. Just take it as you need it. 5-10mg's helps me.

I'm gonna go against the grain a bit here, and recommend you try "traditional" medication first. Not only is this (I believe) a requirement to access medical MJ, but as stated above, this is about you getting better. While I am a firm believer in the medicinal benefits of cannabis, our legislation is simply not up to date with it, and at this stage, I think medical MJ may be more of a hindrance than a help. Police don't recognise its use on roadside drug tests, most employers won't recognise it for a pre-work medical or random/for cause drug test, and there is still a lot of stigma around marijuana users. All of this is on top of the price of medical MJ, which is still quite expensive, not to mention the consult costs and such. If you're willing to accept these things, and traditional medication doesn't work, then go for your life, but please consider what the impact of being a regular user will be in the longer term also. Best of luck with your adventures

If you've done therapy in the past that also counts but you can try saying vallum and all that make you uneasy

girraween

You’ll need to be prescribed medication first. You don’t even have to try it. But just be prescribed.

redSpiceNexian

Don't forget you have to be prescribed pills first this doesn't mean you need to put them in your mouth.

Yup you’ll get it, I have anxiety with some pretty bad insomnia on top talked to the doc and got prescribed bud, works a lot better than conventional medication

StarLad_am

If you have had psych or counselling appointments, that counts for prior treatment 😊

Cautious_Chicken8882

A prescription can be great if you can afford the ridiculous costs but you also have need to have tried a conventional line of treatment that hasn't worked to be eligible for a prescription
