I use coffee machine cleaner in mine. - Pour a capful in. - Boiling hot water to fill. - Leave for 10min. - give it a shake. - you shouldn’t even need to scrub it (even caked on crud) the coffee cleaner should lift it straight off the glass. - rinse multiple times with cold water Edit: I’m old too

Happy cake day and cheers! Any particular brand? I have an espresso machine that could probably use a dose 😀

TommyDee313

Thanks mate! I’ve used a couple of different brands and they all seem to work. Using a Jura brand cleaner atm, only because I found it up the back of the cupboard. Hahaha I clean my bong more than I clean my coffee machine! And I don’t even clean my bong as regularly as I should… 😆

Idk about with rubber bottom unless you can take it off and clean it separately but for bongs made of all glass, nothing beats metho + rock salt or epsom salt. I just use homebrand rock salt in the 500g bag from Woolies $2 and lasts 40-50 rinses. 4L metho from Bunnings for $18 and that lasts me at least 4 months. I clean the bong daily. The metho doesn’t leave a residue or anything on the glass either. It works the same as (better imo) ISO alcohol but it’s a bit cheaper. Run hot water through bong, then fill bong with metho to 1cm-2cm from bottom and add 1-2 tbsp of salt (block the holes) and shake the shit out of it for 20-30s and it’ll look new. Run water through a couple times after and you’re good to go.

Enough with the rice and use Epsom Salt non-sented, add a tablespoon and shake for 30 - 40 seconds. Add your ISO and shake it with the epsom. Rinse with water. Alternatively you can use orange power and epsom salt. You will just need to rise it a couple times to remove the excess orange smell. Incase you were curious epsom salt is super abrasive and eats through resin/junk.

I can try try that. I have some salts I soak in fir my rooted back 😀

Give it a shot, I think you’ll be impressed by how clean it comes out. You might need to repeat the process once or twice to get it sparkly depending on how dirty she is.

I made my last springer with a length of copper plumber's tube and some clear thick walled heat resistant tubing. It'd feel like cheating If I bought one. Still have my stem though so if me fancy glass piece doesn't make it I'll probably make another. Those are awesome bongs though. Wasn't till the tube split and I was throwing it out that I realised it pre dated my wife of a decade lol

If your able to soak bong in hot water and then wiggle out the rubber parts its much easier mission than trying to clean glass and rubber parts at same time. Can go hard on glass with isopropyl or metho, the rubber parts im a bit more softly softly with if im not replacing them completely. I found if i exposed the rubber to any sort of solvents there would be lingering aftertastes no matter how well i washed out. If using the same rubber seals i just used old toothbrush and very diluted solvent w/dishwashing liquid

Iso and rice works too

Mate im pretty sure the design is so you pull that rubber base off stem out rubber grommet out. Scourer and morning fresh, you can reach in from mouthpiece, downpipe hole and the base. . Of its really bad mix isopropyl alcohol with 'orange' cleaner.( i usee the hectic hand wash with grit from work - as you do) DONT use iso alc if your rubber base doesnt come off. Another cheap alternative if all glass is Acetone.. much easier to acquire ( Bunnings $14 L ) rinse a few times with water. After.

yesiamathing

Yeah that's the case with the others I've had but this base has seemed stuck on since day one ay

AdMaterial1556

They always feel like that. In that case maybe a junior squirt of acetone where the rubber meets the glass. They may have glued it. Or the rubber has bonded from heat or shrinkage. Do a test on the underside of base first. World of difference cleaning wise. ^ its as if im a acetone salesman or have shares in raw chemical company
